The only 'war' going on here is a delusion from people that spend too much time talking about video games. These are just electronic entertainment appliances. Choose the one you like, and play with it. All the arguing about it is just kids talk. No different than kids arguing about other toys they have.
It's hard to tell the difference in graphics quality on smaller screens. 47" is small these days. I have heard many people say that you need to get larger than 50" to even see the diff between 720 & 1080 resolution. With bigger screens, you start noticing lower resolution graphics.
If people are truely intelligent, they will most likely be doing more productive & creative things with their minds, and not playing video games. Perhaps making the games other people play. ;-)
I say this with all due respect as one dumb video game player to all the others out there.
There goes the neigborhood. Here's to hoping the riffraff stays on their side of the tracks instead of ruining other game communitites.
Game software will keep marching forward, even if Japan studios drop out of the business.
It would be a shame though, because I like variety. And the good Japanese games have an art style & game playing sensibilty that would be sorely missed if they stopped making them.
I'm a big fan of the Half Life games, but I really don't care if Valve never makes PS3 games. Games made for the PS3 are usually very good quality. Some games made for PC/360 platforms and ported over to PS3, are a half assed joke. I'd rather pass than have a buggy, glicthy game.
I'm recently sufferring through Fallout 3 GOTY, and all the extra content is totally FUBAR. Freezes all the time, and frame rate drops to less than one frame per second. I have to reboot the box due t...
Do style of avatars change how you would play the game, or is it really the case people create their avatars to represent how they intend to play all along? In games that let you be good or evil, I would think most players already know what side they want to be on before even starting the game.
I bought this game when it came out, played it for about four hours, got totally bored, and haven't touched it since. Supposedly there is a story about finding an Alien vault, but I couldn't get past doing those boring errands that they start you out with, and fighting the same re-spawning critters over & over before thinking, "meh, maybe some other time I'll play this again"
Funny to me that they were saying this was less boring than Fallout 3. Because I also bou...
No one in the console business is trying to keep pace with the PC arms race. The goal of a game console is to have a platform that remains the same for several years for software developers. PC hardware continually improves every year, so it is buyer beware if you buy software made today for a PC made three years ago. With a console, you can buy game saoftware today, knowing it is created for you console with the same spec as one that came out three years ago.
2012..I question the validity of that target date. PS3 is now just getting rolling as they head into 2010, and the company mantra all along as been to have a ten year lifecycle on the hardware.
Advice to the people making Farcry 3...
If you spend a lot of time & money making a beautiful expansive open world environment to play in, you might want to make it fun to explore instead if one of the most annoying game experiences a person could have.
Farcry 2 suffered a fatal flaw: No goodies to hunt for but lame diamond cases, and every single NPC attacks you, and respawns within minutes of backtracking over an area you cleared.
I wonder if some of these dudes know any actual real women, or know how to relate to them. Rape is violence. And it goes beyond the physical to the emotional terror. It goes beyond the violent act, but deep into the phsyche of the victim. It is closer to terrorism than it is to just beating someone up. It is something that can leave a lifelong emotional wound. It is one of the lowest, most dispicable crimes, short of murder.
Two words for this guy...

When the Wii was new, and we did not yet know what the game library was going to consist of, it kind of made sense to lump it in the same category as 360 & PS3.
But Wii is a totally different market. 360 & PS3 would like the big numbers, but aren't competing with the kids market that Wii caters to. Kids generate a lot of sales. That is why Disney & Pixar do so well.
PC has always been ahead of consoles. The whole point of the consoles is an alternative to the costly PC arms race that follow Moore's Law. Consoles allow consumers to buy games without having to think about hardware requirements. The cell was chosen for the PS3, because from an engineering perspective, it will still have more horsepower to be found under the hood a handful of years after the first games are developed for it.
lol, by the time the PS4 comes out, our oldest PS3 game will be ten years old. No point in even speculating what the future will bring at this time.
No it does not. IBM does not dictate the way console designs go. They are not the only company Sony can collaberate with.
The end result is specialists. All industries have them. Multiplatform is hit & miss on the PS3, but the specialists that make PS3 games seem to do a great job with it. The "struggling" part is in the rear view mirror for those companies the decided to take the leap. The smarter tech people in the world don;t run away from complexity...they embrace it as an interesting challenge, when they can see it will allow them to do real cool things.
Just goes to show there are a lot of creepy wierdos out there in the world. You are right. I hope they stay inside in front of their computers instead fo living out there twisted criminal fantasies. Yikes.
I don't have the interest for more clutter with another console, having a bunch of games in different platforms...however, if you are really into it, obviously having both lets you experience the best of both. There are a few games I have for the PS3 that were never really designed for that platform, and thus don't work all that well. GTA4 has the nice DLC content for GTA4. So, some multiplats I'd rather play on a 360. But i just can't justify having both with my budget.
