Opening the pipelines costs a lot of money in hardware upgrades & new data circuits. Improvements on a large scale will continue to be incremental, a little at a time, as corporations budget for that.
It is less costly business model to manage data flows with caps (not that I like that). We will continue to see a combination of data rate control & bandwidth improvements over the upcoming decades.

I find a lot of Kotick's comments assinine...but I don't see any material to rip on him in an article that talks about how they try to keep costs down. So does the company I work for, as well as just about any other company in any industry.
Grammer rules!
I doubt very much Sony is feeling sorry for themselves on that decision. Their business model is to make money off the content, which includes Blu Ray movies, along with games. The amount of consoles in service now are almost equal worldwide, so they have sold enough hardware to now capitalize off of games software & movie sales.
DLC only is a long way away before it will be widely supported by consumers. There is a funny assumption going on right now that downloading mega large data files is convenient for everyone. It is a lot still faster for me to drive down to the store & buy a game compared to the time it takes to download severla gigabytes of data.
Additionally, having the data on portable media like a disc, allows that software to be owned & played independently of the hardware. I ca...
It is current technology. I guess MS is content to use pretty old technology while they wait around for the future?
Steal even 1p from me, and I'll knock your teeth in. It's a matter of principle you know?
You payed for a PS3 because of other OS?
Whatever floats your boat. I bought it to play games with. I played around with multiplie OS on PC hardware years ago. Loaded 3 or 4 OS on the hard drive even. A PC is much better for that kind of thing.
Funny that people think only the pirates are clever. The politicians may not be technical minded, but the people they hire are pretty clever at getting their targets.
mmpage...you are really creepy.
haha, cool Easter egg.
How come everytime I see an article about this game November seems like it gets further away? I am totally impatient to buy this game.
This is somewhat of a new idea that people deserve props for being honest in everything they say.
They used to just call that being stupid in the good old days.
I like grim.
And I thought the car physics was a huge improvement over previous titles. If you don't understand how to power slide through turns, then you probaly suck at both video game & real driving. I am a baddass driving mofo in GTA4.
Crank out those McVideo games as fast as you can Microsoft. Hint: Cloning stuff from previous games saves time.
It depends on how much money you have for toys, whether or not the cost is worth it to someone.
I myself have a good job, no dependents...and have no problem whatsoever spending 100 dollars on something I may hardly ever use. But when people come over once in a while and fun with it, it was worth the purchase to me to buy the Move.
Pretentious forum posters on N4G.
I have been playing video games since the Pong days. I have never, not once gone to the store looking for "video art" instead of a video GAME.
Activision's Kotick talks big talk...but I wouldn't invest money in company stock for a company that is riding on one game title for all their world domination business plans.
His lunacy is probably why he is so good on screen with these angry anti-hero characters. I would like to see more of that, or at least more movies directed by him. Funny that Hollywood is suddenly PC, and acting like they have morals or something. LOL, give me a break.
Good article. This guy makes sense.
