I have played LOTS of games over the years. I disagree with you, because the scale of problems I experienced with FO3 were on the extreme end of the bad quality scale. I can live with a clipping glitch or occasional graphical/audio wierdness. I don't expect a 60 dollar game to lock up many many times, or even worse lock up as soon as I load a save file (forcing me to decide whether I go a lot further back to a previous save, or just give up). That is what I experienced with FO3.
Haha, another game off my list.
Heck, soon I am going to just buy the indie games online that don't pull this kind of scam of piecemealing the full game in DLC installments for extra money.
I agree with what he says.
But I also think that when he talks about "the line" of what is considered acceptable moving up & down, I think it is important that we don't keep moving that line up for young children. Let children have their time of innocence & learn social skills, and not expose them to a lot of distrubing things when they are too young.
Because they have to be on the defensive at all, tells the true story. Interesting that the response completely avoids the real issue people are complaining about, which is the bugs. They only defended the poor graphics on the old game engine.
It never makes sense to me when reviewers don;t seriously consider the actual performance of the software when reviewing games. A review not taking points off for bad software is just a bad review, and misleading to customers what kind of product they are buying.
funny that some really get into this kind of stuff.
If all the new tech is the "big guns", then the games are the ammunition.
Better question: Who has more ammunition for their big guns in this shootout?
I agree with the author that "finishing" a game like Assasin's Creed 2 can be interpreted differently by different players. I did all the main missions, all the puzzles, most side missions, but not the assasin missions. I felt like I was waaaay finsished by the time I stopped playing. I appreciate all the hard work they did in cramming that game so full of stuff to do though.
It comes down to discipline in putting your standards above your game addictions. If you can keep that focus when making a purchase, you sometimes open yourself up to buying alternative games that are pretty good, but may not have purchased otherwise. Sometimes it ends up an addition by subtraction.
I just signed up yesterday. Had a great smooth experience watching the sci fi movie "Surrogates" last night. Just one more reason to not get off the couch anymore, haha.
So what for some. No sale for me.
I don't care if it is a business program or game, software with a lot of glitches is not worth spending 60 dollars on.
LOL, give me a real guitar & I'll shred all of ya. No game attachment necessary.
Too much BS going in the game scene. It's about time some reviewers step out of the butt kissing shadows, and tell it like it is when game software is all jacked up.
no stealth here. I disagree that FO is awesome.
LOL, my PS3 hard froze on me countless times, especially with the additional content in FO3. I renamed Point Lookout to "Point Lockup".
Before anyone gives me the knee jerk reaction that it was just my console, I will let you all know it was only FO3 that I had this level of extreme problems with. The Bethesda message board was flooded with angry consumers complaining about the same thing whenever I checked it for an update if a patch was going to come out (it nev...
I am sticking to my guns vhero, and not buying this game either, even though I want to play it. There are plenty of games to play, so I just can't bring myself to pay for sh*t that I know in advance doesn't work very good.
As much as I loved the gameplay in FO3, I told myself I would not buy New Vegas if reviews or player feedback mentioned the same game freezes exist as with FO3.
I guess I will have to pass, becuase almost all reviews I read mention game freezes & other bugs.
Whatever they call it, eventually there will be a comprehensive release with all the DLC & bug fixes. It's great that they announce the DLC before the game comes out, so those in no particular hurry know they can wait a year or so for the complete game on disc.
As a long time PC geek, there is no question the never ending parade of new hardware makes consoles seem like stale technology. But there is significant cost involved in always having a cutting edge system. That expense, plus not always great standardization between PC products keeps the console game business going strong.
I am not advocating censorship, that's for sure!
I think that information is key - parents need all the info they can get so they know what their kids are playing. Those parents that don't give a damn...well I feel sorry for their kids, but it is not the rest of our jobs to step in and raise their kids for them.
