The thing is, if supposed AAA games do cost more, the 'lesser' ones that cost less will be given less importance(read lower financing & support) by publishers, and hence, less time and effort from developers. That is why it will be unacceptable for someone who enjoys games like Football Manager series over 'so-called' AAA games like CoD series(yeah, i do know they're different devs).

Your argument is indeed plausible, and I wouldn't mind getting better games. I also know that prices cannot stay the same forever. But who can decide which game gets the price-hike? Nobody can perfectly predict the sales(and critic-review) result for a game.

You, sir, are seriously flawed, and i mean mentally. The importance of each game depends on the individual consumer. Of course, there are obvious differences between something like MW2 and Braid(even that is only my personal opinion). But why should you have to pay more for one game over the other just because it is more 'popular'? Lemme give you a scenario -
Game A : Very good graphics, visuals & sound, advertised widely, popular franchise, weak story, uninspiring gameplay, ...
....although, they have made a huge step forward indeed. But this is EA we're talking about, so I'm gonna hold back my songs of praises for now.
