PlayStation and Nintendo being at the top is when the industry feels like its at its best. Both companies know how to turn success into more and better experiences.
Why? There’s no CoD points yet, and the game gives out supply drops like candy. I’ve already unlocked several Epic and Heroic weapons. I doubt any of these will require payments, plus it’s all cosmetic at the end of the day anyways. The weapons just look cool.
Getting a slight bump in sales in 2 countries isn’t a turning of tables. Notice how we’ve only heard about UK and US sales, and for US we haven’t gotten solid numbers. This thing is not selling nearly as well as Xbox fans are hoping, and even MS’s attempts at creating artificial demand have failed miserably. NPD for Nov/ Dec is going to be hilarious for Xbox, because the Xbox fanboy damage control is going to be priceless
Basically. I’ll gladly wait 2-3 more years for actual next gen hardware in the PS5, and play a real 4K system that has exclusives that are actually good.
Whenever I see sad Xbox fan comments like this, I always ask: if having the best matters that much to you, what have you been playing for the last 4 years? Best part is, I never get a an actual answer; just more pathetic insecurities and deflection.
I keep saying it, but I’ll gladly say it again: Sony might not have the more powerful mid-gen upgrade hardware, but they have the more powerful talent. I played through Frozen Wilds, and my god, that game is beautiful. Why am I supposed to care about a few extra textures and sharper image quality, that I’ll only ever notice if I play both consoles on two side-by-side TV’s and zoom in 200+ %? When I can just play those same games, take the hit on the textures side, and still enjoy games amazin...
Well, PS4 has the added advantage of being the most popular console for third party titles. Let’s be honest here, even if Switch manages to get better third party support as time goes on, it’s mainly going to be the truly devoted Nintendo users, who refuse to play games on anything else, that will buy them. Switch is never going to compete against PS4 on that front, and that’s a surprisingly important trait for sales longevity.
As for Nintendo’s exclusive lineup, we know t...
Yeah, but if it’s a whole new generation, it’ll likely not come out until 2019
I’m well aware that this is aligned launch sales comparison. I’m saying that Switch’s second year on the market will not have the same growth over it’s first year, that PS4’s did.
Yeah, even when we get the Super Mario Odyssey sales bump, I still don’t expect Switch to catch up, and next year is looking more and more iffy for Switch, so PS4 is likely going to take an even bigger lead.
Nintendo released too many big titles this year, I don’t see Metroid 4 or Pokemon hitting next year, so that basically only leaves Smash as their potential killer app for 2018. Obviously there’s gonna be more, but most wont be serious hardware sellers.
This is an aligned sales chart, meaning it’s comparing the respective launch sales of each console. As it stands, Switch had a stronger start, but has since fallen behind.
I can’t see how Horizon wouldn’t get best story telling; not only was the story so well done, the pacing and emotion behind it were perfect.
Darn, and I thought Crackdown 3 would have the Most Wanted award in the bag lol
Jokes aside, it’s incredible to see just how well Horizon did. Guerila is still a fairly new studio, in terms of serious AAA development, so it’s awesome to see their first ever open world game stand out so much. If they keep it up, they’re gonna become one of the industry greats soon.
Doubtful. That would be the end of console gaming.
Hopefully Naughty Dog’s presence means TLoU2 gameplay, or at least another trailer. That’s what I mainly care about.
With Santa Monica, Insomniac, and Bend there as well, we should definitely see release dates for those games. That’ll basically make the show great for me.
I just don’t see the point in deterring people from playing a potentially good game, if all the loot box system is doing is incentivizing you to play it a lot, if you have no interest in paying extra. It’s also more difficult to complain due to EA announcing all expansions will be free, so long as they stick to their word there. Oh well, to each their own.
I don’t know what there is to remedy? The loot box system is no different than what it is in games like Overwatch, Uncharted 4, Gears 4, CoD WW2, etc.. The majority of what you get out of them is purely cosmetic, and you can unlock it all through just playing the game and not spending an extra penny. Yeah, it takes a long time to unlock everything, but at least you will always feel like you’re working towards something. I can somewhat understand the heroes thing, but I refuse to believe the 4...
People are getting too caught up in this loot box controversy if they’re seriously going to start daydreaming and claiming “well, what if this dev made it, it could’ve been better..”, like no. Regardless of how you feel, DICE was, and likely still is, the perfect developer to take on such a game. Hopefully over time, people will stop crying about the loot box nonsense so we can actually see if this franchise can grow and expand and have the future that original series didn’t.
That’s not what I said. I’m calling out the hypocritical Xbox fans who praised indies on 360, claimed they irrelevant when PS4 had better support for them, and will now all of the sudden defend them again since MS is defending them.
Because despite this being only the console’s 4th year on the market, it’s been it’s worst for games. That’s kindof always been MS’s business model for the Xbox: release a decent amount of games the first few years, sucker in as many people as they can, and then fall back to releasing basically nothing but false hype, while moving most projects onto the next console so as to repeat the process. Luckily, it looks like MS will never have another success like 360 because most gamers have finally...
