2015 is soon? It might already be too late by then, we could be seeing a 10m+ lead for ps4.

When you're microsoft and you are deficient when it comes to your own first party studios and your platform begins to lag behind in both hardware and software unit sales, the money hats you attempt to entice studios with will need to be bigger and bigger. The larger the gap, the more ps4 users ms wish to be deprived of a particular game, the more financial recompense the studio will require. ms effectively have to pay not only for each xbox one game unit. If the ps4 has a 2:1 lead, they&#...

@wb27 calm down, dear.

You don't seem to have understood what I said, maybe I wasn't clear - sorry. I was just pointing out that there's more to making a game than the coding and design of levels, etc. Other parts of the process take place way before these, they need people working on them day-in, day-out. These guys put everything in place for the rest of the guys to have something to work towards later. You might not consider this to be a part of a game's pr...

@wb27 There are always staffers working on future stuff away from the current projects we know about. You don't just all decide to start making a game one day and that's it, throwing every person in the building at it. The concept, story, design, all kinds of stuff needs to be worked out before a single line of code is written - this is people working on a game, it all depends on what you consider the "development" of a game. Every stage is important, every stage requires pe...

Hyperbole. What does it mean?

If you want to play the checking-in-stores game, lets look at those actual, real, tangible, visible stacks of green boxes... yes, those ones.

@76erz24 It's the given nickname now, it's not meant to be a put down. Calling it "boner" would be more akin to what you're saying and would rightfully harm and opinion given alongside it. But if it really hurts inside when you see "bone" and you simply have a hard time taking anyone seriously who uses it, unfortunately you're going to have to learn to #dealwithit

@mewhy32 kinect does not account for half the cost of an xbox one.

They might not be in the position they are in currently where they are falling further behind Sony by the day, but they'd be in an equally bad one where they'd need every xbox one owner to purchase around 8 or 10 full price games just to break even (given the share they take on a $60 sale).

@PsylentKiller, Infected Then I guess this isn't the xbox one system seller people want it to be, just stick with the 360 or PC version instead of spending $600+... and stick with a machine that has a controller that doesn't need any firmware fiddling to make it playable because it's all about dat gameplay.

@Neoninja Of course it matters. Sony bumped up ps4 stock via air freight, leaving us expecting January to be slower than the usually slow January (it wasn't until the end of the month before any serious amount of stock came through the regular channels).

Microsoft didn't take advantage of this with their freely available stock. In fact, their channel stuffing in order to "win" December only exacerbated a very slow January's sales.

And no...

No, just no. You can have an opinion and disagree, but you don't have to be rude and condescending with it.

NPD isn't public information, what you're asking for (demanding?) is not a right, it's something we enjoy if we see or something to speculate and calculate if not.

But I agree with the sentiment completely.

@ abzdine "that's why Nintendo will always remain the boss. when you buy their game it's plug and play no need for day one patch and garbage like this before you can play it."

You forgot the Wii U launch? That was a sarlacc pit of day one patch hell. Sure that's not a game... it's only the platform you intend to offer hundreds of games for over the next 5 years!

@Eonjay "Sony can order more supply from the manufacture without worrying about the cost because each unit created is essentially sold before if gets off the assembly line."

I don't recall a console launch where, if you missed out on the pre-order, there were pre-orders for later and later batches of release from multiple retailers. Maybe it's just wording and they're technically back-ordered, but managing large lists of potential customers, every bit as...
