It's an anticipated title nonetheless. SO, I guess I'll just pick up the regular edition. It's still going to be a great game. Actually, I've made it my crusade to dissuade people from buying those collector's edition versions of games. It's not worth it, and you're just showing them they can gouge the prices of games even further.
That's usually due to Vsync. If you have an nVidia chip, go to nVidia Control Panel (right click desktop in windows). Go to Manage 3d Settings and then look for Vertical Sync (last option usually). I forgot where to go in ATI Catalyst Control (shouldn't be too hard to find).
Also, increase refresh rate of your monitor. Older CRTs usually need to be AT LEAST 85hz, LCDs can get by with 60-75. Change your monitor resolution and see which one looks best to you. Most of the time the high...
You know, it's enough to just say this game IN TRUTH won't be released on x360. To claim that x360 isn't capable of such graphics is just fanboy opinion. But I'm glad Guerrilla is doing such a good job with PS3 that it would indeed be questionable. So KillZone2 earns my stamp of approval. Oh, but it's the $60 that they want:)
Oh alright...
(surprised I haven't been mashed with disagrees)
Anyway, the same can be said of Halo3. Sub HD. Great game, but not the finest example of x360's hardware.
A rumor...something that PS3 gamers wouldn't even ALLOW being the closest form of reality when asked if FFXIII had a chance of being released on x360. And then that guy up there (Shadowmaster) talking about how Square Enix isn't needed to help PS3 survive. What do you do to satisfy those jrpg purists in Japan, then? Square Enix are Gods over there. The day an FF fails to stimulate a console's sales will be the day FF really becomes Final.
It's true that White Knight Story has a g...
MGS4 = sub HD. Great game, but hardly the finest example of PS3's hardware. Shame too, since it took 3 years to finally play it.
Yes, Mass Effect is THE King. I don't even know how PS3 gamers can call themselves gamers unless they've at least tried it out once. That's like saying that you'll never play MGS4 just because you don't have a PS3.
Mass Effect triumphs over many rpgs out there, and for a few simple reasons really. It's got a great system of dialogue and character emotions. The story is genuinely intriguing, and it's STILL a top notch shooter. Also, the hero isn't some mopey dim spirited character...
I think we're going to see 42223542 more articles as people start reporting EVERY FRIGGIN STORE THAT PUTS A NEW TAG ON THEIR SKUS!!!! It's stupid, and only the big chains matter. So, to me this article is a waste.
nVidia and ATI's development has always been inline with Direct X revisions. There "r&d" is primarily concerned with getting compliance with whatever Microsoft requires for its next Direct X. nVidia has, however, shown that it can move in its own direction with CUDA. But Intel is a whole different company, and Larrabee will something different than what either nVidia or ATI currently offer.
I hope for the best. Larrabee seems to be promising.
I used to have almost those exact specs in a previous build, circa 2004.
Asus a7n8x-vm "nForce 2 Ultra 400" DDR 400/AGP 8x mini ATX
AMD Athlon xp 2000+ 1.6ghz
ATI Radeon x1600 512MB AGP (purchased in 2006 as final upgrade)
1GB (2x Corsair 512 DDR 400 PC-3200)
Brings back memories of a different time...
Yeah, my pc came preinstalled with Vongo, and then Verizon offered me Starz play. They're great! Lots of movies, and they get new stuff weekly.
...this is so funny! I have Starz service provided by Verizon and it costs me $5/month. I can already stream movies to my x360 using Media Center. I have such a nice setup as it is, this will be more beneficial to those who ONLY have a console (and a big HDD), or don't network.
Media Center RULEZ!
I...want to play Mass Effect again. Actually, I already have my new profile loaded up. This will be my 2nd play through (I friggin saturated the first one:)
GTAIV. No questions about its claim to fame now. The original SR was great, don't get me wrong. I just don't like where they've headed with the story thus far.
It's going to be an nVidia GPU, no doubt. I see CUDA/extra GPU tossed in for working with physics (ala the PhysX API)
Sony can't afford to be more than a year behind the x3. If they stretch 2 years, they'll be giving more time for Microsoft's new machine to gain install base. This will be an interesting gen, as Microsoft's strategy is to force Sony to shorten the life of its consoles. PS2 was a juggernaut WAY into x360's life, but not even Sony can gamble on the PS3's future, so it's safe to say that 10 years might still be a goal, but they will have an answer to x3. And it won't take them longer than a year...
That's what makes x3 the REAL wild card. They can either stay with AMD/ATI, or they can take on Intel's new Larrabee. And since ATI will be smelling the money to be lost, they will be working hard to keep Microsoft's faith for another generation. There will competition, and this alone will drive the specs HIGHER for the x3, as neither Intel nor ATI wants to miss out on a sure fire way to move out millions of chips.
Also, I believe it will be the other way around. Multiple GPUs, a...
Yeah, I see them sticking with nVidia for another go around. They've built a solid relationship with them, and I can see them working together past just the hardware. Working with a team of people whose job is to research graphics technologies and come up with new features in a future series of GPUs is a big plus.
I bought the following as CE:
Lost Planet (...a CD as an extra???? WTF??? nice box though)
NFS: Carbon (making of features, definitely NOT worth it)
Gears of War (nice black tin box and red symbol, nice art booklet, but not worth it)
Prey (ticked me off the MOST! it's dirt cheap now for BOTH versions!)
Halo3 (probably the best of the bunch, but still not worth it...I do like the black box and blue symbol though:)
Th...
