It a real shame that it is an MMO. Online RPGs seem to lack the stories and involvement that made games like past Dragon Quest games so good.
Personally I enjoy gaming on both PCs and Consoles and would hate to see either die. Though I hear a lot of people complaining and saying PCs are too expensive or too much of a hassle, the truth of the matter is that anyone who can comfortably afford both a HDTV and a HD console, can easily afford a gaming pc. Also with regular firmware updates and game patches now being common on consoles, they have their own forms of hassle.
I really enjoy the Suikoden games, though I really wish they would have made this for one of the big consoles. Oh well, if this comes to the US, at least I'll have a reason to dust off my PSP.
I enjoy playing a good person in my games, but I do admit that it is more fun to be good when you don't have to be. I don't think playing a good character in a game like Infamous would be half as fun as it was if you were forced to be good.
Personally I'm just not that fond of gaming on a small screen. I really try to like handheld gaming, but I never seem to be able to finish any of the games I get for them unless I don't have access to my PC and big consoles for some reason.
Usually I'll just use my iPhone if I want a quick time killer on the go then enjoy the games I really like on my TV and PC when I get home. I hardly ever pick up my PSP or DS anymore.
The Studio Gibli fan in me really wants to play this bad...
Though I love Japanese RPGs, even it it were released here, chances are I wouldn't play it because handhelds are just not my preferred way of playing lengthy games such as rpgs. I like to relax in a comfortable chair in front of a big tv when playing games like that. Too bad they won't make some of the numerous rpgs on the PSP, PS3 playable and sell them on the PSN store here.
I've haven't gotten Move because I've yet to see a game that makes me feel like I need it enough to pluck down a 100 for it. I really think Move has potential, but Sony really needs to get out some games that show this, then I'd be more than happy to grab one.
By this I don't mean games that have Move tacked onto them, but games that offer an experience that could not be had without move.
I'm definitely looking forward to the Ico Collection. Not being much of a shooter fan, there's not much else for me to look forward to this month (at least in this list,) but there's lots of great stuff to look forward to into the coming months.
While waiting for Ico to come out, I'll probably pick up one of the games on my back list that I've yet to get, maybe LittleBigPlanet 2 or Infamous 2. haven't really decided yet.
Though I am a Nintendo fan and do have a Wii, I think Nintendo needs to stop ignoring their core audience as they're the ones that will still be around once the causal crowd moves onto the next "big thing."
While I agree with the above comment that monopoly isn't good, I can't see myself getting too excited about a Windows App store because I extremely dislike GFWL. In fact I recently uninstalled every game that used it so that I could get it off of my PC. LOL
I like both the TES series and the Zelda games, but I have no desire to mix them. I feel that Zelda does well on it's own path and have no desire to see it try to copy anything from a western rpg. Almost every Japanese game that has tried to copy what works well in the west, has resulted in a crappy game. When I buy a Japanese game, I want a Japanese game, not a poor intimation of a western game, when I'm in the mood for a western game, I buy a real one.
Though not the greatest JRPG around, Resonance of Fate was definitely better than FFXIII. Being as of late, disappointed with most of the stuff I've gotten that was released by Square-Enix, I never bothered to look at Nier. I'll have to keep an eye out for it in the bargain bins. The rest of the stuff on the list has never really interested me.
Square-Enix is going to have to turn out some pretty good looking games to get me back to buying their stuff. The crap-load of games I've bought so far this gen have been disappointing to say the least.
FF13 was boring and overly liner, Last Remnant was horrible, with a battle system that made no sense, FF Crystal Bearers was interesting, but ruined by a crummy battle system and Chaos Rings was boring with unlikable characters.
I really wish Square-Enix ...
Though I enjoy hoping online once and a while to enjoy a game with friends, for the most part, I prefer the single player experience. I've heard many another gamer say the same thing, so while there are a lot of online gamers out there, I still think there are still quite a few single player gamers out there (not to mention gamers who enjoy both) and developers would do well to take the media's view that single player gaming is dying with a grain of salt. New IPs would do well if co...
I have to agree with this article, that this is an annoying trend. It's been around as far back as I can remember playing online, though like the writer says, it's definitely gotten worse this gen. Still it used to be that when joining a new game, there would be lots of vets willing to go out of their way to help you get started. Those were the guys and gals that always got my respect, not the jerks going around shouting "N00b" at new players and certainly not the immature...
It's hard for me to get excited about Onlive. I live in a small country village that is over 40m from the nearest real city and while my internet connection is of an okay speed (2m), it is very unreliable.
Also having lost the ability to play one of my games while PSN was down, even with a good internet connection, I'd be hesitant to go with a service that would mean lost of all my games if they had down time.
I'm disappointed that there are relationships at all in Skyrim. It really feels like it cheapens the game world when all the NPCs are just there to develop relationships with. I was looking forward to an Elder Scrolls experience, not another Fable.
I tend to really enjoy rpgs that don't take themselves too seriously. While I don't think all rpgs should be funny, I do think a little comedy relief now and then is important to a good gaming experience.
@Maniac. I agree, considering that the PC digital download stores are fairly flooded with them, it's a wonder some haven't migrated over to the consoles. A lot of them would feel more authentic on a console and would be nicer to control with a controller, ...
Personally I'm more of a single player myself and I agree with much of this article. Playing online once and a while is fun, but after a hard day, it's nice to just enjoy a game by myself with no need to worry about stepping on others toes or them stepping on mine. Also it's nice to play the game how I want with no hassling from online bullies or hackers. Though I prefer single player games, I have nothing against online games or those that enjoy them, but it's wrong of the...
