According to Sony, all future games are required to be fully compatible with the PS4. Unless developers want to make extra work for themselves, it would be smart to design games with the PS4 in mind then add graphical improvements for the Pro afterwards. At this point it's highly unlikely the pro will ever catch up to the install base of the original model, so unless developers are economically stupid, the original PS4 should be their first concern anyway.
The PSX had far more third party than first party stuff, and though Sony has come a long way since, most of their first party games for the PSX really pale in comparison to the third party stuff. All the deals Sony would have to make with third parties to get enough interesting content sadly makes a mini of this system unlikely.
It's because everyone is spending their money on hardware instead of games. Of course they're buying some games, but a lot of people would be buying a lot more games if a huge chunk of their income wasn't going towards hardware this quarter.
I really liked this game, but would have rather seen a sequel coming. The tablet screen was a huge part of this game, wonder how they'll compensate for that?
This new upgrade model brings to consoles almost every reason I left computer gaming. It's also one of the main things many console gamers attack the PC on, but when consoles start doing it, they hypocritically turn around embrace it with open arms. Might as well just return to PC gaming next gen.
I agree, it is a waste of resources, at this point in the gen, devs should be giving us better games as they've learned to work with the hardware. Instead they are now concentrating on how to push out a higher res. This truly has been a generation that focuses on hardware over games. A lot of gamers haven't been exactly happy with the large quantity of "blah" games. Well this is exactly why we're getting loads of crappy games with a few good ones rarely.
I agree, not to mention every gamer buys a game they don't like from time to time and regret it. It's part of being a gamer. These losers need to get a life and move on. They're really starting to come off as idiots. Nobody likes wasting $60, but come on, it's not worth letting it control your life.
It's way overpriced for what people are charging on eBay. Though $60 isn't bad. I would love to have one in my collection, but there is no way I am paying a $100+ for it. Especially since I have a real NES in my game room with around a 100 carts for it, so I don't really need the mini. But as a collector of retro games, if I get the chance to get one at it's proper price, I won't pass it up. (A tip to people who want to play retro NES games, you can get a real NES and...
For years this has been one of the things about PC gaming that console gamers have been hating on. But I'm sure the Sony faithful will turn around and praise Sony for it now. It really brings out the hypocrisy that a lot of console gamers display in attacking PC gamers. Very funny actually.
It's annoying that they delayed the game for this. Wished they had released it as planned and did this in a patch, Pro improvements I mean.
Ubisoft is as arrogant as they get. They deny anything is ever their own fault and blame the gamers. So they're not going to see the problems from the first game as something to learn from.
Unless you're upgrading for improved VR (I'm not a fan of VR in it's current state,) you really are wasting your money if you already have a PS4 and not a 4K tv and not planning to get one. Personally I don't plan on getting a 4K tv until my current tv needs replacing, so I'm not planning on getting a pro or S. I'd rather concentrate on games, not hardware.
While I enjoy this game and will probably play it on and off for a while, most games tend to die after a few months. People need to get a life and move on. To keep harping on it is just pure click bait.
I agree, it's a false statement that third party support has dried up. Even though I use a PS4, I still keep my PS3 in my entertainment system and check it's store weekly. I've yet to see a week without new content. As long as people are still buying games for it, publishers will continue to support it. It's not really a bad thing that Sony is only releasing old games to PS+ because it means a lot of older AAA titles get released for free. It's a nice way to try some ...
Yeah, what's the point in making a switch, just keep your PS4 and get the Xbox too. I don't currently have an Xbox one, but I'm planning to get the Scorpio when it is released. I figured why waste money on a PS4 Pro when I can continue to enjoy PS4 exclusives on my current PS4 and add to my library Xbox exclusives while enjoying all future enhanced multi platform games on the Scorpo.
I don't think it was a mistake. There are a lot of people, myself included that enjoy it. It was a mistake for them to fuel the hype train. A lot of people jumped on that train and were really upset it didn't meet their expectation so when the first bit of real negativity showed up about the game, they went crazy and mobbed the developer over the Internet. That in the end is what hurt us all as gamers because it discourages innovation and companies stick the same old boring tried ...
I don't have a new PC, yet I have no trouble playing it on my old machine at medium settings, maybe you need to play around with the settings.
@vegamyster,
PC gamers must not be setting it up properly for their systems if that's the case. I have an aging gaming PC with a Q6700 but meets all the other requirements and the game runs at medium settings beautifully. I was surprised it runs so well because of my core2 processor, but glad I gave it a go, figured I had nothing to lose since I got it free on steam.
Thanks for the link. I only have been using cosmetic based mods and nothing that alters gameplay, so wasn't too happy about being locked out of achievements either. Would rather have a cool looking character than the achievements, but it still hurt to loose them. I'll check that mod out.
So anyone who has anything negative to say about PSVR or Sony in general is a troll? I love the PlayStation brand and have been a fan of it since the original PS, but I do think it's humorous how much money Sony has gotten people to pay to play tech demos. My biggest gripe about the PSVR, which is also the same for the Pro, is that it's pulling developers, mid gen, away from releasing improved games to having to master new technology.
