Personally I do not want the Origin store client on my computer, this is disappointing, but not unexpected.
@Ravenshoe, GOG does not put DRM in the products they sell or require an intrusive client to be used to run or install the game. GOG is nothing like Origin or Steam for that matter.
I may decide to get the console version of this game, but I want to see if EA is going to tag some kind of online pass on the single player game first.
It's actually a pretty interesting looking system. The graphics might not quite be next gen, but they weren't anything to scuff at either. I sure wish it upscaled old Wii games instead of just playing them at their default res.
I will say that the controller does not look very comfortable for long gaming seasons. I'd really need to get some hands on with it before I make a final decision on purchasing the unit.
I've been wondering the same thing my self lately. While I enjoy a serious deep thought provoking story as much as the next person, I also enjoy a lighthearted comedic romp as well. It seems like the latter is becoming more and more scarce, at least on the console front anyway.
Usually what passes as maturity in games these days isn't mature at all. Sex and profanity and excessive blood & guts in games is usually craved by teenagers who think they need that stuff to feel mature.
A 'real' mature game is one with a story that simulates the adult mind in ways that children do not yet have enough life experience to comprehend.
I agree with the article. I play RPGs for a little escapism from reality. For a game to do that, I need to feel like I am someone else in a completely different world. The boring corridor fighter that is FFXIII fails at this on every side (for me anyway.)
I have played every Final Fantasy except for 3 (my personal favorites being 6, 9 & 12) and FFXIII is the only one that has failed to make me feel like I've visited a new world.
I really don't ...
Anther PS4 and Xbox 720 article, they sure do keep popping up. With the ps3 really starting to pick up it's stride and the XBox still selling like hot cakes, it hardly seems like it would be in either companies' best interests to make the transition to a new console any time soon. With the economy being the way it is, I bet both companies will sit back and let Nintendo test the water and see how a new console is perceived before making any announcements.
You really have to take Game Informer's reviews with a grain of salt. The have a tendency to get people wasting money on bad games by over rating them. But then again, Game Informer's main job is to sell games for Game Stop.
And if you don't like rpgs that are over linear or rpgs that use a way over the top difficulty to force you to multiplay, the list for last year are even smaller.
Personally I'm disappointed in Bethesda. Their bully tactics in the whole indecent has left a rather bad after taste. In the end, Interplay has been robbed of their intellectual property because they didn't have deep enough pockets to keep fighting in court. That's how this whole thing reads off to me.
Since I hate MMOs, I could care less about FOOL, but I do consider Fallout 1&2 to be vastly superior to 3 & New Vegas and really wish the Interplay were...
While I am not a fan of social gaming, and while most of the games mentioned, aren't my cup of tea, I do enjoy the pokemon games because at their core the pokemon games have always provided a pretty decent RPG.
I agree with Darth's comment that the difference between a core gamer and a casual one is not what games they play, but how much they put into gaming. A core gamer is one who has made a hobby out of gaming (a core gamer also doesn't let other tell them wha...
I certainly hope so, I'm not ready to go all digital yet and the collector side of me will probably never be. While I enjoy to occasional convenience of a digital game, there's something nice about having a physical copy.
I've been looking forward to this game even more than Skyrim. Glad to know my gaming rig is above the specs, but what I really want to know is what kind of DRM EA is going to slap on it. I really want the PC version, but would go with a console version if the DRM is too draconian.
It's a shame game companies keep getting more and more controversial with their games. While I know there are a lot of kids out there that seem to think they need this kind of thing, it's really not necessary for a good game. The bottom line is that this kind of behavior by game developers is giving games a bad name which in turn brings gaming to the attention of legislatures and others who want to limit and censor game development. While I am a full believer of freedom of speech, ...
I don't have a lot of hope in this game, but I will certainly check the demo out. It would be a pleasant surprise if I was proved wrong.
I disagree with this article. I think that Japanese companies need to stop trying to implement western ideas into their games and go back to doing their own thing. After all, their main audience is in Japan and there will always a niche market over here to profit from as long as as they don't go overboard in localizing it.
I've never been a huge fan of the gritty realistic look that a lot of people seem to want. I can live with it, but would rather haven cartoony fantasy graphics any day. I loved the look of games like 'The Windwaker' and the Sly trilogy.
What a useless article (It basically says nothing in so many words.). Personally, I'm not ready for the next gen of consoles. Just as developers are getting the hang of the current consoles, we end up going into a new generation and we're back at square one, with developers releasing games with great graphics but little else. I'm more interested in great games rather than the next new "big thing."
Personally I wish it was inspired by what ever made earlier FF games so great. First we hear about how FFXIII was inspired by FPS, and we hear this about FFXIII-2. If red flags weren't already going off in my mind about this game, they sure are now.
"Sqaure-Enix, please return to what you know and leave the western games to western companies."
Going by population is kind of pointless. To make such a compassion, you have to go by how many consoles for a particular game were sold in each territory to get some idea of user-base on each system. While I am not sure of how many of each of the Nintendo systems sold in NA vs Japan, I do know that this doesn't always parallel population. For instance, the Turbografix 16 (PC Engine) sold much better in Japan than NA. So in order to understand for instance what these numbers mean for ...
I love both PC gaming and console gaming and see no reason why a gamer can't enjoy both. Sometimes I feel like gaming with a keyboard and mouse other times I feel like sitting in an easy chair and gaming with a controller.
Both formats have their advantages and disadvantages.
