Actually BubloZX, HD is a standard, and the minimum standard is 720p (1,280×720 pixels) while Full HD is obviously 1080p (1,920×1,080 pixels).
480p and 540p are simply progressive scanning formats, and well below the 576 lines visible in PAL SD broadcasts...they look sharper as it's progressive rather than interlaced, but it's still not HD.
The Vita's screen is 960 × 544 and is vibrant and bright due to being OLED, but it is NOT HD resolutio...
@MacDonagh...what? You say hypocrisy, how do you know it's the same people doing the complaining?
I see this all the time, vague mentions of 'they' used to create an imaginary slight that you can then complain about, as if 'gamers' are all a single hive mind with the same opinion.
And that's excluding the point that mentioning Nintendos controller looks like a 360 pad isn't that big of a deal in the first place, and certainly NOT hypocritical even ...
I understand why the likes of Capcom do this...they are greedy, grasping scumbags who, rather than making the best game they can, instead chop out chunks of completed code and charge you twice for it.
What's worse? There are gamers who actively defend this practice...they are the worst.
DLC should add extra content to a game AFTER release, not be made up of content chopped out of the main game. Despicable practice.
Piracy is indeed inevitable, look at the Humble Bundles. You can literally pay a penny, yet the bundles are still pirated at an alarming rate.
If I pay for a game, I want to be able to play the damn thing. Even the best net connections freak out occasionally, you WILL get booted from your game if you play it enough, and that's not something I'd be prepared to accept for a single player title. That's when the punishing of honest players comes into it. By all means prote...
Everyone complaining about gaming at the moment is being tarred with the "whiny, entitled bitch" brush and it's really starting to get on my nerves.
Why are gamers so willing to accept being reamed by publishers and developers, to the point where they will actively defend their suspect practices and look down on fellow gamers?
There are people defending on-disc DLC and day one DLC, there were people defending the fact that official servers for Battlefield 3 disap...
He says it's an unfortunate reality as if there's no other choice in the matter. There is...stop fleecing gamers. Money is down? Try developing something new rather than releasing the same tired concepts every time and expecting people not to get sick of it or wait till it's cheaper to pick it up.
Want more money? Try rewarding early adopters rather than automatically rushing to penalise everyone by holding back content and charging twice for what's already on the ...
Yes, just what the Vita needs...more games that you can play on other consoles already. Where are the Vita exclusives that do something different, that are built to take advantage of it's abilities or play to it's strengths?
The Vita is possibly the most pointless handheld around, it's all about power and little to do with unique experiences that you can't already play cheaper elsewhere.
Yes, games of such graphical quality on a handheld is p...
You just highlighted part of the problem....Samsung and LG have caught up with Sony and now offer products just as good, only much cheaper.
In the TV sector they are struggling to keep pace with the likes of Samsung and LG while still charging a premium price in line with Panasonic screens which consistently out perform the Sony equivelant.
Samsung and LG offer screens which are at least as good and feature packed as the Sony for hundreds of pounds less....they need to either dramatically cut their prices to remain competitive, or drop out of the market completely and concentrate on other markets.
Pretty poor review in terms of completely ignoring the issues with the ports. Well, not completely, they mentioned there was less fog but stated it didn't really detract from the experience. What rubbish...no mention of the slow down issues or lip synching, or missing/poor quality textures that have received no attention. In short, not a good review at all other than telling us what we already know about the quality of the games.
@Aliengmr, no it didn't work, and I'm glad plenty of people saw it for the sham trick it was to boost their popularity...leech off a popular gaming charity to get publicity and tacit support for their silly cause.
And they absolutely should be ashamed...Soldierone has stated he will no longer donate to the charity, and that is indirectly linked to the actions of the RME group and their unauthorized use of the Child's Play name. That's harmful. It's also ...
@Vortis, I wasn't referring to EA using Childs Play, that's just as bad as the RME guys doing it, I was referring to the portion in the linked article where people were criticising the charity for accepting donations from publishers etc. that they have dealt with. I didn't make that clear.
EA were slimy for doing it without permission, as were the RME crew...both had ulterior motives and agendas beyond helping sick kids.
@Soldierone, the money ha...
The problem is that the tactic used by RME was a deliberate and sleazy attempt to curry favour amongst gamers by slapping the name of a charity to the cause...and also an attempt to strongarm the developers of the game by ensuring they couldn't speak out against the movement for fear of being branded child hating scumbags.
It also creates a tacit connection between the charity and the cause...that they somehow endorse the cause that's attaching their name, and that's a dan...
I loooooove old school Resident Evil...in fact, just finished playing through Chris' story on the PSN version, getting the "What a tough guy" case completely closed ending that I never got before.
Forget dreck like Operation Raccoon City, old scholl Resident Evil is the best.
It's not scary...at least not to me, but it IS meant to unsettle and disturb the player.
It is symbolic of the main character and his sexual frustrations...the reasons for which are a pretty damn big spoiler, so I won't say it here.
Silent Hill and it's imagery and monsters are all tailored to reflect the guilt of the protagonist, whatever that may be as the story is revealed. The scene isn't there to titilate, it's there to disturb and i...
@A Glorious Dawn.....it's hard to say without giving away spoilers if you haven't played the game. It is symbolic of the main character's sexual frustrations....the reasons for which are revealed at the climax of the game.
When you first encounter the scene, it is purely to disturb and unsettle the player. The meaning is derived later on. It IS an important scene and it definitely should NOT be censored. There's no penetration or anything especially graphi...
Yeesh, they give that disaster of a game Duke Nukem Forever a 5.5 but Ninja Gaiden a 3?? That's not right. Comparing games of different genres (no doubt by different reviewers) is grossly unfair, but from other reviews of NG3 I've read, there's no way the game is worse than Duke turned out to be...and that game had some of the worst animation, AI, hit detection and graphics I've seen in quite some time this generation.
The IGN reviewer hasn't judged the ...
You apparently get a licence to use the data on the disc based distribution medium. On disc DLC data is on the disc....surely it is covered in the agreement?
Yes, it's pointless to voice displeasure at business practices you find objectionable, of course. We should just sit quietly like good little sheep while they gradually erode our rights as consumers.
How long before the multiplayer component of a game becomes chargable? Or entire missions of the single player component? How long before they lock half the game off and claim the second half was always intended to be DLC? Should we all keep quiet then?

Just because Konami called that abortion a collection doesn't mean they're right.
The Resident Evil collection they're releasing for the PS3 is a genuine collection as it includes Resi 5&6 and download codes for Resident Evil 1-4....THAT'S a collection, Silent Hill, God of War and this are pairs. Don't let BS marketing change the basic meaning of words. If there were only 2 games in a series, you could call a pair a collection, but in all cases so far, that...
