Shinmaster, but best open world game ever? Come now, it's not even the best in it's own series (Saints Row 2 FTW).

My favourite open world game is probably GTA San Andreas, just ahead of Vice City due to it's sheer scale and variety. Vice City had a better story, main character and theme (I'm very much an 80's kid), but San Andreas was more out and out fun.

I agree with this. People often mistake staleness of a series or lack of innovation for a game being bad. Games need to be reviewed on their own merits first, then with a mind to comparisons to other games in the genre/in the same series.

I think the best thing for reviews would be the elimination of scores altogether, with a thumbs up, down or in the middle as a quick guide for those who can't be bothered to read the review, while everyone else can make an informed dec...

Not in all cases. I'd argue that the majority of the time, it's the fragile egos of the gamers reading the review that are broken, their ability to provide counter argument to perceived criticism without resorting to insults or childish claims of "BIAS!" without knowing what the word actually means, their inability to handle opinions that don't match their own. That is what is more broken than ever. The review process has remained the same for decades, warts and all. ...

There's no such thing as objective when it comes to good or bad Hicken. How else can you call a game good when there's no objective standard for what constitutes a good game?

The only objective criteria would be does the game function as intended - as in you put the disc in the drive, the game loads up and you can play it. Everything else after that is ALL opinion. You can back that opinion up with solid reasons based on what you experience, to make it more solid a...

Just had a quick look at the review and they confused the bone charm perks with the abilities you unlock by finding runes throughout the game...not sure how they managed that as they talked about the runes and the abilities like Blink just before it.
All in all, it's a very positive review with a strangely low score. Presentation, graphics and sound scores are very low for some reason, despite them having no problems with the graphics. It's basically a 7/10 score they gave, ...

That little intro paragraph is enough to tell you that the writer of this article is a bit of a moron. Don't like wrestling all you like, but don't dismiss it in such a disrespectful fashion. It'd be like someone saying playing video games is the pastime of fat sweaty basement dwellers who like to play with their sticks (wink wink)...it completely invalidates your opinion.
And it's a shame, as the article raises a few decent points about the impact of certain moves b...

All reviews are subjective...there are no, and will never be any, purely objective reviews. The very notion is idiotic.

There would have to be some sort of standard game that all others could be measured against in order to come to an objective viewpoint on a game. With so many different genres, concepts, ideas, game styles, art styles, etc...there's ZERO possibility of there ever being an objective standard of what a game should be.

How can you possibly have a review without opinion? The only perspective a reviewer can have is their own, they can't possibly review it with a mind to what some imaginary other person might want...that's ludicrous.

Do you really think all Halo fans want exactly the same things? Which criteria should he judge on if not his own? What you've just outlined is such a bizarre notion, I'm surprised you actually typed it and that someone agreed.

I think it's time the games industry took a look at itself and really examine just how foolish they're being.
Make digital sales cheaper than RRP. High street sales are waning fast, with online shopping being the overwhelmingly preferred method of getting games because it's cheaper.
Stop trying to placate a market that's slowly dying and instead embrace where the majority want to do their shopping....online.
Make digital downloads cheaper than online r...

Taxes are involved in ALL sales, retail or digital in the EU. There is also a reduction in costs for the publisher as they don't have to reduce the price they charge to allow for stores to make money, no shipping costs etc. Digital sales should NEVER cost more than retail....fact.
They are trying to gouge customers in the name of convenience because they know there are people lazy and stupid enough to actually pay that amount.

Name a sequel that isn't. Huh, just thought of one myself...Super Mario Bros. 2.
Anyway, most sequels are 'more of the same, but bigger and better'.

Is it possible that you dressed up your opinion in as confrontational a headline as possible to bait for hits? If Arkham City is terrible, what's something like Amy or Hydrophobia? That's why your opinion is being disregarded offhand.

Really Memots, you couldn't put it better than THAT incomprehensible garbage above?
Terrible spelling, no capitalization, thinks the plural of sheep is sheeps (that's something 5 year old's say), putting out malformed brain farts and daring to call his rambling nonsense opinions truth.

Here's a hint Morkendo23, people are allowed to "bit;h and whin" as you put it, about games all they like. Just because other, more important things happen ev...

Uh huh. Look, MoH is trying so hard to be CoD that it hurts. With the real thing out in a few days, why in the hell should people take a risk on an inferior copy of a formula perfected by another company?

If you truly want to be an individual, buy something differe...

People that pay for those unbalancing items shouldn't be allowed to play with those who haven't paid. If it only affects the single player experience, that's fine, but if an advantage can be gained in multiplayer because of this, it's unfair.
Any idiot who would pay for the chance to get less reward from their gameplay frankly deserves to be ripped off.

And opinions like this are the reason you only have one bubble...what utter drivel.
The story of GTA 3 is very basic, but Vice City and San Andreas have great stories filled with funny and likeable characters...that's precisely what kept people playing the series.
That you were terrible at the games and couldn't get through the story does NOT mean that everyone else didn't.

PETA are scumbags who support terrorist behaviour from animal rights movements like the Animal Liberation Front and the like. They butcher the VAST majority of the animals they claim to save, are riddled with hypocrites from top to bottom and are essentially only in it for the celebrity endorsements and money.
They care nothing for animals, only their own carefully crafted publicity machine. Even IF Pokemon were a franchise where each fight ended in the death of an animal, the entir...

Then again, being called The Vixen Gamer doesn't help either. Could be worse though, could be another in the line of 'State emotional state here' Gamers that try to cash on on the AVGN's success.

Agreed 100%, don't know why they've added so many extra steps. And the lag is definitely there as it's constantly trying to load big images on the right of the screen rather than thumbnails.
Annoying, surely improvements are supposed to streamline the process rather than make it more clunky?

I don't like the new store at all. It takes several extra button presses to be able to download anything, the design ensures that less items are shown onscreen than were before, it is clunky when scrolling down the numerous departments as it's constantly trying to load stuff on the right side of the screen.

I'll eventually get used to it, but frankly I don't think it's an improvement at all...it was much smoother and intuitive before the change. Don'...
