Are you really this obtuse? If smartphones, tablets, the PS3 and 360 can all run those engines, then OF COURSE the Wii U can do it.
As of now, it won't, because of a lack of support, not because of hardware limitations.
That could change in the future, if the Wii U's install base grows to a size respectable enough to entice game publishers.
My only point here was that, if you are defining "next-gen" in terms of hardware, the...
Nope, the price is just fine. Neither expensive, nor cheap, just right.
Of course a price cut could help the console, but in the end it won't matter if it doesn't have the game library to back it up. So, games > cheap price.
My thoughts exactly. I love cute and quirky games, but I've never understood the appeal of this game, nor why people seem to be so excited over it. While it looks cute, there's something offputting about the animations, and... I don't know, maybe it looks too slow and easy for my tastes.
I could be wrong, of course. Let's wait for some more reviews to pop in. :)
Dear God, I always see you coming up with these claims and numbers and images, but you NEVER put a link to back up said claims.
Why do you try so hard to defend Nintendo here? What are you trying to achieve? Wouldn't your time be better spent... you know, playing the Wii U instead of trying to convince haters to love it with feeble, non credible arguments?
As a Nintendo fan, you embarrass me. Please start making more solid arguments, and back them up with...
You get a lot of disagrees, but you speak the truth. Nintendo's most important part of their business is the handheld market, and it's been like that pretty much always, ever since they released the first Gameboy.
Nintendo's handhelds, historically speaking, have always turned a much bigger profit per unit sold than their home consoles, and Nintendo's own handheld games have a much lower budget than their console counterparts, and generally sell much better. ...
You should take a look at the PS3's and 360's game lineup in their first year. Lots of PS2 / original Xbox ports there.
It's been confirmed that smartphones and tablets will be able to run Unreal Engine 4, and the Frostbite Engine 3 will run on Xbox 360 and PS3.
Does that make all of those machines next gen?
Seriously, inform yourself better before talking such nonsense.
Wait a second. Dylila talking positively about the Wii U? Not a single "rubbish" word usage to see on his comment?
The hell is going on?
Yup, and it's actually a superb game. In my opinion, it's up there with Super Mario World and Mario Bros 3. But still, it's one game, coming just a few months after the public saw the release of a New Super Mario game for 3DS, and it's not enough.
It needs more. And it will get more, over time. In the long run I suspect the Wii U will do just fine, but as of now, there's not much incentive to motivate consumers to get this new console.
This game is getting decent reviews so far, with a Metascore of 75 at the moment. Also, it's $18, not $40 like you said. $18 is still a bit expensive for a 3DS eShop title, but not as bad as you make it out to be.
Have you played the game? If not, then your criticism hold absolutely no value here.
Myself, I've only played the demo, and it was pretty damn good. It's a rythmical endless running game, very similar in many ways to Bit.Trip Runner, w...
-Sorry, accidental post-
Uh, no. What's holding the Wii U back is the lack of games compelling enough to convince the customers to take the plunge. All the marketing in the world won't do shit if a game console doesn't have the games to back it up.
Once Nintendo releases a few of their hot games, they will be fine.
The Wii U's online isn't crappy at all, dude, and it's not comparable to the Wii's at all. Zero.
That "crappy online" statement of yours only shows that you haven't played online with a Wii U. Hell, chances are, you don't even own one.
Your other points have more validity to them, but the online one is just a lie.
Torchic, it's basically Nintendo's own version of the blu ray format. Therefore, it's not called "blu ray", but propietary media, even though for all intents and purposes it's actually blu ray.
To give you another example, the Wii's discs are also called a propietary Nintendo format, but they happen to be actual DVDs. That's why the Wii can run games and movies off regular DVD discs on Wii's running homebrew.
:)
...
Well, then, yeah, I guess.
XD
"Nintendo has never been about graphical power, they are more about gameplay and fun."
Where were you when Nintendo released the NES, SNES, N64, and Gamecube?
Because on those consoles, Nintendo focused on gameplay and fun... AND power.
I love my Wii U, and I think it's a fine console, and I think it will do just fine in the long run... but come on, that statement of yours isn't really accurate.
OMG NO WAY!!!!
Mario 64 isn't the same as Mario Sunshine isn't the same as Mario Galaxy.
Zelda Ocarina isn't the same as Majora's Mask isn't the same as Wind Waker isn't the same as Twilight Princess (well, Twilight is similar in some things to Ocarina, I'll give you that)... isn't the same as Skyward Sword.
Metroid Prime 1, 2, and 3 are similar, of course. But they weren't released in a yearly basis. Also, Metroid Other M is VERY differe...
Except that it isn't... I think. I mean, Wigglytuff isn't the name of the pokémon per se, it's the name of the species. Wigglytuff is a wigglytuff, just as Pikachu is a Pikachu. Same goes for Yoshi, it's not really dinosaur nor a dragon, it's a Yoshi.
:P
Lol, what a pathetic excuse. If that were the case, then why did Sony DESTROY Nintendo when they entered the market with the PS1, being newbies at the industry facing a seasoned veteran that had been at that since the late 70's - early 80's?
I'll tell you why: GAMES. The PS1 had a much stronger third party support than the N64, and that was the reason behind its massive success, leaving the N64 in the dust.
And that's why the 3DS is destroying...
