The Nintendo stuff on the article, silly. There's quite a bit of that.
The games are tied to the account. The problem here is that, as of now, the account is permanently tied to the system, which is beyond stupid.
I hope Nintendo unties the account from the hardware sometime in the future, rather sooner than later. Miiverse is coming to 3DS, PC and smartphones, so here's hoping.
I'm pretty sure Pacman will be there. This new Smash game is being developed by Namco Bandai, and Pacman is Namco's oldest and most iconic character. Actually, Pacman is probably the second most iconic character in gaming history, right after Mario.
Add to that the fact that Namco has already worked with Nintendo on two Mario Kart games for arcade machines, and Pacman was in both games... so, yes, I'm 99% sure Pacman will be in the next Smash Bros. Right now, he...
Yeah, the difference here is that the first 2 Yoshi games you mentioned were the first to use those respective art styles for Nintendo. This Yarn Yoshi game, though, is only recycling the exact same art style introduced in Kirby's Epic Yarn.
Is it an awesome art style? Yes, it is. Will it look awesome? Very likely. That doesn't change the fact that it feels like Nintendo was being a bit lazy here and reusing the style from another different IP instead of making a new ...
4 months into the 3DS's lifecycle, its game gallery was as barren as the Wii U's is now, if not more. So, I'll give Nintendo the benefit of the doubt here, maybe they were too busy catching up with the 3DS to give the Wii U more attention.
:P
War? Against what? The Vita hasn't been much of a threat for the 3DS, like... ever.
I find your comment to be dramatically accurate.
While I can agree to all of the suggestions on this article, there's a blatant oversight, the most important update that Nintendo SHOULD apply to the Wii U (and the 3DS too, at that):
Unlink the Nintendo Network ID from the console.
Seriously, it's stupid. The way things are now, if your Wii U breaks or gets stolen, or if you lose it somehow, you also lose your Nintendo Network ID, and subsequently, ALL the digital content you downloaded from the eSho...
"Instead, the average gamer has to make a choice between Nintendo games and everything else. Just like the Cube."
The Cube was technologically superior to the PS2, so I don't see your point here. It was capable of running the same games as PS2 and Xbox 360.
And there were, in fact, Wii U shortages at launch, but that was over soon.
You just grow one extra hand, of course. Silly you.
Oh... just one week. No biggie.
Zelda Wind Waker HD is slated to come out before this year's end.
And both Mario Kart and a new 3D Mario game will be shwon in playable form at this year's E3 according to Nintendo, so there's a chance one of these games could come out this year, if not both of them.
If that happened, it would be pretty similar to Nintendo's strategy for the 3DS towards the end of its first year (a Zelda remake, and a new Mario Kart and 3D Mario).

There's no such thing as a third console curse. The N64 wasn't Nintendo's third console, the SNES was. I forgot how it was called, but Nintendo's first home console actually came out before the NES, and it had games preinstalled on it, akin to Pong and the like.
Look it up. :)
There's arab characters all over the page... so maybe it was their own attempt at translating it at english or something.
Yup, I didn't understand jackshit either. XD
As far as I know, Nintendo has supported Capcom with the Monster Hunter series far more than Sony ever did when it was on the PSP... maybe that's why it's getting more traction now.
Either that, or simply a case of the series gaining more recognition over time. It's hard for a very japanese-y (made up word) game to penetrate a market heavily dominated by western games.
Personally, I think it's probably a bit of both.
While I think that Pachter usually makes a fool of himself, what was quoted in this article, for once, makes sense. He is, for the most part, stating the obvious (Wii U needs moar games to sell better herp derp), but that doesn't make it any less true.
Mario Bros U is, in my opinion, the best of the "New" Mario series, by a long shot. And that's coming from someone that's played all four, and I found NSMB2 (the 3DS one) extremely boring.
But the Wii U version is amazing. It has superb level design, it's equally as fun solo or multiplayer (the Wii version was fun only in multiplayer), it's quite challenging and offers a ton of content. I honestly consider it among the best 2D Mario games ever made, ...

@Realplaya: I know, man, I read a couple articles about people getting eShop credit from Nintendo so they could re-purchase their stuff on new Wii U units.
Actually, I'm in the process of doing exactly that, myself. My Wii U got stolen a couple weeks ago, and I knew my digital stuff was gone for good with the console, so I contacted Nintendo's customer service and they told me they would help me somehow as soon as I get a replacement unit. They weren't more specif...
