While I know I'm in the minority, I actually enjoy the Ys games quite a bit more than Zelda titles due to their faster pace and greater attention dedicated to weaving a compelling story.
The motion controls absolutely added to the game's charm, that's for sure. Hell, I'd go so far as to say they made a better case for the Kinect than anything else on the platform.
I agree, TFJWM. Thankfully, I think the PC market seems to have a better stomach for the likes of Swery65's quirkiness. I could see this game doing far better on Steam than it would on XBL or PSN.
With how crazy of a cliffhanger we were left with at the end of the first chapter, I need closure!
It's a fantastic game, and still one of the highlights in the Xbox One's library IMO. Here's hoping the next chapters actually see the light of day.
Three reports now . : /
Two duplication reports and it still goes through? Unreal. http://n4g.com/news/1718400...
I just hope a talented modder is able to use a resource like Beats of Rage to make this a reality. This is just too cool of an idea to pass up.
And while they're at it, why not do the same with Big Trouble in Little China?
A guy can dream....
@Fireseed, it has nothing to do with enjoying the game or not, and everything to do with the ridiculousness of the question at hand. It feels completely ludicrous in 2015 to see the OP opine whether a series that's built its legacy on mutilated corpses and wriggling spinal cords long before many N4G'ers were born deserves should be docked points for doing what it's done for decades.
I mean, yeah, I get it. This isn't much more than quickly churned out clickbai...
Really? I distinctly remember Polygon crapping on Dragon's Crown due to the pendulous female cast (though let's face it, even the male character's wangs probably had abs). Or how about Philipp Kollar's review of The Last of Us that couldn't help but hammer on about his dislike of guns and violence.
They review games not based on their merits, but on how much controversy the can stir up by politicizing video games. That place is a circus.
Mortal Kombat has reveled in grossing out gamers for over 20 years. That's kind of its thing. Anyone who thinks the over-the-top violence should negatively impact a Mortal Kombat game's score should be doomed to play Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe for all eternity.
While I'm a huge fan of the beat-'em-up genre, I have to say this looks pretty trashy. The janky animation and clay-like character models look completely soulless and lack that charm that Capcom, Konami, and Sega's brawlers had in spades.
The pre-order page on NISA's site! ;)
Sadly no, though that was my first hope when I saw the press release.
The game is a standard 3DS release.
Too early for April fools shenanigans at HPP. We're just as surprised as you are!
Yeah, that is a bit disappointing. It's a shame they weren't able to implement a system similar to with what Rockstar did with the updated ports of GTAV, simply allowing you to transfer saved data by synching your Gamertag/PSN ID.
Of course it matters. Would you not be irate if you bought a game as long as a chapter from a Telltale Games' title for 60 bucks? There's a reason those bite-sized experiences are priced accordingly. While I don't think there's a definitive sweet spot when it comes to the acceptable length of a game, I'd certainly argue 60 bucks for a game you can plow through in less time than it takes to power through a Lord of the Rings marathon is unacceptable.
Our $60...
Ah, gotcha! Yeah, but certainly to the point. Can't wait till March 10!
Well, the article itself is just an embed. Lots of effort there. :/
Neat.
