It doesn't really say anything. Sony's Trojan horse is the same horse Microsoft has been riding for a while now? Yes Netflix is the game changer in Sony's favor. No Hulu is because both will have it. Both companies are adding new services. No one has made any new gains on the other.
But the real gem in that article was the link at the bottom about digital downloads.

That's fine. But a lot of people on these forums play COD everyday. In multiplayer you are the terrorist sometimes. And according to the US media all terrorist are associated with Al Qaeda. Every attack in any country somehow comes back to Al Qaeda. So people have been playing as Al Qaeda for years now. Also Nazis. The Jews never complained that people were playing as Nazis. For the author it's very personal, but to most it should be just a game.
And as for the politi...
The PS3 should be just under $300. Add advertising and packaging and it's right there. They should get new contracts next month if they haven't in the last few weeks to bring the price down $30 or 40. Another $30-40 next year and they would still have to stay around $250 to break even. The 360 is around $200 for the Elite now. Next year it will be even cheaper. So MS can drop it down to $250 and make $50 profit on each sold.
Microsoft has been making a profit on each console sold for over a year now. They have made die shrinks and combined chips and redone deals every year. And the 250gb hard drive is cheaper than the original 20gig with today's HD prices. I noticed on the press release for the financials the other day that they spent 500 million for R % D in the Devices division last year. I know they're working on some technology and Kinect(which should have been split with other divisions since it will...
It's less than $200 now. Even with the bigger HD and Wi-Fi. They have brought cost down just like Sony. The PS3 went from $850 to just under $300. The 360 went from $526 down to around $190-200. The 360 has had several die shrinks and has re-negotiated cost each year. Moving to the Valhalla chip not only shrunk the die of the chips, it combined the GPU and CPU into one chip saving a ton of money for MS.
How can he claim the 360 is in trouble when the reason the division does make a profit is the 360. By his logic they should cut the most productive product. He's also not taking into account what that division gets charged with. It has webtv, Zune, advertising for MacOffice($400 million worth of advertising two years ago), Surface, Kinect, Xbox and several other things. Only two things actually make money in that division, Live and the 360 itself.
Also how would the Xbox...
But you more than handled it. Who has bought a single speed DVD disc or player in the last ten years? Good site to use though Roah. But Roah the reason PS3 games need the mandatory installs is because of the slow transfer rate of the 2x Blu-ray disc. Roah check out this link. It talks about the main two codecs used now on Blu-ray.

But I just laugh. Sony has so many fools heads spinning that they have begun to believe the most ridiculous things. I don't pay any attention to them. Instead of having enough sense to read about the technologies, they just believe whatever Sony tells them to. But hey, it's their money.
It may use less, but it uses it. Actually the movie is all compressed and the audio isn't sometimes. MPEG-4, VC-1 and MPEG-2 are all compression codecs. And all Blu-rays use some form of codec.
Also, DVD can do full 1080p. It just can't do much of it. Like others said, Blu-ray is just a storage media with more space. If a switch happens to holographic disc and they start making 4k videos, Blu-ray will still be able to do 4k. It just won't be able to do much of it...
Maybe a particular store sells more Blu-ray. Maybe they are trying to get a pack mentality going since most people will follow the crowd. But the link I provided is an industry magazine and they deal in real numbers. Blu-ray usually hovers around 10-12% of the total sales. And since Blu-ray averages around twenty dollars per disc and DVD averages less than ten, the actually disc sales for Blu-ray are far less than 10%. Check the link and look through the archives. I think the most I've se...
Some of you PS3 fans are delusional. Do you really believe a camera can be as accurate as a well powered camera with and IR camera combination. In your brain somehow more information is less valuable. You fail. And they can augment all they want. The ability to see the form of the human body as apposed to knowing where a controller is are two different things. And while the PSEye can sense head movements, cam it see hand gestures or skeletal structure.
Here's reality if y...
But the reality is the PS3 wasn't worth $600. Not to me. I didn't want Blu-ray forced on me. If they had gone with DVD I would have had a PS3 by now. I wanted one when it was announced. Blu-ray wasn't needed and according to disc sales, isn't really wanted.

Still just 10% of the sales. But these numbers don't tell the whole story. Microsoft uses sh...
MS is in an excellent position. They can launch a new console next year and bring Kinect to the hardcore player. They still have the 360 to tap the Wii non gamer market. The new console adds the power to make Kinect work with hardcore games and expands Kinect's market. They also force Sony to split the PS3 market before it ever becomes profitable. MS is competing with Sony. If they want to hurt them, make the business less profitable for them and limit their resources. The best way to do t...
There is nothing going on in most Kinect titles that can't be done with a controller. You can still play racing games or rafting games and bowling games.
But the main thing people are ignoring is that Kinect gets better with the next console. Which will be far more powerful. So Kinect and the 360 works fine for the audience it was made for. The next Xbox and Kinect will be fine for the hardcore player. But Kinect's ability to understand what the body is doing coupled ...
Move is all it will be now. It's 1:1 now but they would need to upgrade hardware for skeletal recognition. Also the more people the more controllers. Kinect becomes more powerful with every new console. It has the complete package as far as ability, it just needs a more powerful processor. The 360 is fine to bring in the Wii crowd and it's non gamers. But the next generation will bring the power for the hardcore player. And just like Kinect, Move will use PS3 resources to work too. Pl...
I'll get it when they bring out some games I'm interested in. I do think it will be much better next generation. Once they build a console with Kinect in mind, it will become far more powerful. More power will allow for more accuracy and creativity.
Microsoft hasn't said it will be $150. And no one has said the games will be $60. Especially since most games of this type from MS have eliminated the $10 license fee in the past. Think Kameo. All we have seen is what retailers think. There is no reason to believe a bunch of mini-games will be premium priced while there is every reason to believe that MS can bundle Kinect with an Arcade and a game for $230. The current Arcade is $150 with two games and the cost of the 360 alone has to be ...
New consoles don't have to be all new tech. While Sony seems to thinking about moving away from the Cell, Microsoft could bring out another Xenon with 8 cores. They could use an updated ATI GPU. The CPU would most likely be 32nm so it could be made cheap(probably less than the launch price of the original). The processor is the same tech so it wouldn't be harder or more expensive for devs. In fact it should be cheaper because the things they learned from the 360 could be moved over to...
I believe it is. His whole career is based on this same character from what I've seen. It's not a big deal.
I like Last FM. But I never use it. It's good for introducing you to new musicians. But when I start my 360 it's almost always for the games.
