Many PS3 fans say it's just an PSEye. The PSEye can be found for less than $40. Natal may have better firmware and have some added features, but the equipment is very similar. The ZCam, 3DV's camera was going to be sold two years ago for less than $100.

There's not much difference between the Z-Cam and Natal and Microsoft bought t...
@BWS
For years now PS3 owners have always added the price of the $100 Wi-Fi module to the cost of having a 360. I never needed one and many didn't so it didn't apply. Now 360 owners are adding the cost of having 4 sets of controllers to play Move. Many will never need more than one because Move has functionality geared toward the hardcore gamer that more often than not is playing other online instead of in the same room. So like Blu-ray and Wi-Fi, many will never have...
When PS3 owners tell you you have to have Blu-ray. Or Wi-fi. There is no proof you need either and Blu-ray was definitely overpriced at launch.
But the really sad thing about some of the responses is things like bringing up the cost of Live. Looking at you Chozen. While Move does include a lot of things geared toward the hardcore gamer, Natal seems to be geared strictly toward the casual gamer. Hardcore gaming is done on the internet and you would need Live for that. Casual ...
But we know the price for Move. It cost $40.00 for the PSEye, $50 for one part of the controller and $30 for the other part. So that's $120 for one person. If a second wants to play, add another $80. Natal is maybe $150 for two people. It might be cheaper. But we know Move is $200. Add batteries. Or if they are built-in re-chargeables then add $50 for a new controller in a few years.
If you don't like Natal, that's one thing. I don't own a Wii because I'm...
He knows the main reason is that Blu-ray doesn't sell disc. The number of Blu-ray disc sold is no more than 5% of the total disc sold. In revenue Blu-ray is 10-11% of total movie sales. It's been out four years and hasn't come close to what DVD did to VHS. Once studios start giving licenses for movies like you get on your downloaded games, disc will start to disappear.
First, the cost of the drive and the other components that make a difference are two different things. I'm sure Sony pays less than $60 for the drives themselves. If any of us can get one for $60, Sony can get(or make them) them much cheaper in bulk. The Cell and Reality Synthesizer play a huge role in the quality of the video. Most stand-alone units won't spend that type of money for the other parts inside.
It riles people up and gets them talking about Natal instead of Move. Then when Natal releases for $60-75 instead of the $50 that was originally talked about, the price will seem like people are getting a bargain. I also believe they will announce a 360 Slim w/Natal for around $219. The Arcade cost MS well under $200 to produce now with the Jasper chip and other cost reductions and adding Natal in the package at that price would probably allow them to still break even. At this point anything ...
He's so ignorant that not only does he kill the next modern warfare and cost his company around a billion doing so. But, he guts the company most likely less than two years before the release of the next generation of consoles. The new people will struggle for years to get up to speed on the next generation. The IW name will be mud by the time they do and they will never recover.
You do realize that there is a huge price difference in Bentleys and caviar compared to corrollas and hotdogs. Most people can't afford Bentleys and caviar, if they could more would buy then. Not sure why. But people can afford Blu-rays, they aren't that high. Most just don't believe the difference is warranted. And some know that the price is a scam. It doesn't cost that much more to make Blu-ray now. The studios just want to make themselves richer on us.
But the reality is that...
That is a good point. But as far as we have really seen, they are using Natal for simple games. The 360 processor should have move than enough power to run both.
@Qui-Gon Jim It may be true that MS is not using the ZCam. But while they say they had their equipment separate from 3DV, after buying the company it would be stupid not to take any useful components of their product and added it to your own. 3DV claimed their camera would cost no more than other computer cameras. If the...
It's the ZCam. The company MS bought.

Anyone with comprehension skills, eye sight, a memory and the ability to pay attention should have known that article was fake. The company that Microsoft bought, 3DV Systems, first showed the ZCam at CES in 2008. This is video from 2007 with figure gestures being used to work a computer.

Only a fanboy could believe that the camera could go from reading hand gestures...
They seem to have convinced people that the PS3 is the most powerful console that will ever be made. They've thrown logic out of the window and have forgotten that a console could be released next week that will be far more powerful than the PS3 could ever hope to be. With games that will match anything the PS3 has to offer day one. If MS releases a new console in 2011 that has five times the power of the PS3 and sells for $399, developers and buyers will be moving on. The delusion that PS3 w...
But the thing is, it is always smarter to let someone else take most of the risk. If you are taking all of the risk and lose a lot, it doesn't pay off. And while some will claim they don't care about sales, they just want great games. Sales lead to more games. It is still a business. So if you spend 30 million making a game, you spend 8 million advertising that game and spend 5 or 6 million or other cost(packaging, licenses, etc.) and it sells 300,000 copies. You lose. Because it's your compa...
but if I did I wouldn't buy this game because that nasty bastard didn't wash his hands before touching his razor and toothbrush.
Tell me the guns that use the same round, grain, and basically thew same powder that doesn't have similar damage. There may be slight differences, but they should be close unless one uses hot loads. If both a UMP and a Kriss use a FMJ 45cal round the damage on the Kriss shouldn't be half of the UMP. And the Kriss should be a lot more accurate than the UMP. And should absolutely be more powerful than the MP5. The damage is off on the weapons. By a lot on some.
And the shield shou...
People who need to be placed in games together. They ruin the game for skilled players. If you use it to attack a group of people it makes sense. But running around shooting people at point blank range with it is for boobs. And IW encourages it by not having the blast kill the person that shoots it. All of the other grenades affect the user. All except explosive grenades. It makes no sense.
IW also need to do a better job of balancing weapons and making them more like their real...
They announce a 200 GB disc and can't get it out the door two years ago. Now a 320. When does that come out? 2020. DD will have moved well past Blu-ray by the time this disc sees the light of day. And as long as they are taking to get large capacity disc out, HVD will have hit the street and made Blu-ray a non-factor for archiving. Big mistake Sony.
There's no way you can navigate inn an environment without an analog stick. Look at the Burnout demo. That was completely on rails. They had to use their foot to make the car go. Wait a minute, they used their foot like an analog stick. Moth you don't know what you're talking about.
Moth you and others will also notice that that little foot trick can't be done with a wand. Which is what makes Natal better than the other two. And since the company that made the Z-Cam(3DV Systems)...
The limits are based on Pachter's limited imagination. Natal can be used with the controller, so hardcore games can be made with Natal support. Plus people are basing everything on the power of the Natal now. I believe the CPU was removed not because of cost, but to extend the life of any Natal unit purchased. If the computing power comes from the console, as the console becomes more powerful, so does Natal. People won't have to update for years. Spend all of the money on the cameras ...
