I think the screen size is a mistake. I believe it should be 7 feet, not inches. Surface is big, not a tablet. Four people using a 7 inch tablet? With 1440p? This is a big machine. This is for commercial use. Like restaurants. They have mentioned that type of use before.
@raytraceme
And Sony fans only buy a few exclusives. So big deal. Sony released LBP2, Resistance 3, Killzone 3 and InFamous 2 all last year. Plus a few others. Xbox 360 outsold the PS3 globally last year. So exclusives are meaningless. Twisted Metal and Starhawk released this year and no one is buying them. Microsoft makes games that people actually buy.
If SmartGlass is built on a similar software platform the way Kinect is, it will get support because most of the work is done for the developer. Games that support voice on the 360 with Kinect but not other consoles is because Kinect already understands language and not much extra is needed. SmartGlass should work the same. MS has been working on things that make communication between different types of machines lately. This is no different.
@gametillyoudrop
To say MS copied Nintendo is a reach. I'm sure they didn't just develop SmartGlass overnight. That leak from yesterday, that MS lawyers supposedly had retracted, listed SmartGlass like ability for last year. So maybe it's something they were working on for some time. Plus, the PS3 has used the PSP for years. So does that mean Nintendo is really copying Sony.
Me and some of my online friends had discussed a secondary screen for ce...
I'm sure her husband(there's even someone for the Crypt Keeper) is doing adult things like cheating on her, being an alcoholic and stealing money from his company. Spend more time helping your church molest children ditz.
There is no need for it to be $600. Notice the die sizes they are looking at. 28 and 22nm. Add that these are SoC designs. The smaller the die size the less expensive the chip. You get a lot more chips from a wafer at that size than you would from a 90nm like earlier machines. Plus since it is a SoC it has fewer parts which also cuts cost. $299 should be no problem.
It is supposed to be based on Windows 8. Not running a full version. Just like the 360 is running on a specialized version of Windows. So like mysterym said, you don't charge yourself. You have a small cost to make it specific to the machine. Which will be easy and cheap for them.
Another useless thing? Considering they seem to be planning their own world class entertainment(their words), it might come in handy. They also mention set-top box. I know I need a DVR on my Set-top box. They also mentioned a $299 price point. $100 less than last generation launch. Also weren't there rumors of a DVR function that also recorded gameplay? I would love that feature.
Could you explain the things making it more expensive?
And could someone exp...
VR used to be for hardcore gaming at places like Dave and Buster's. I'm not sure why it suddenly isn't. It makes it more hardcore to me. And having a Kinect with power again seems geared to HC.
I think too many people are stuck in a repeat others thoughts world. There will come a time when controllers aren't held in your hand. Kinect 1 may be relative to 8-bit gaming. But it is the right direction.
Ardivt is right about this next generation. ...
I think people are ready for new hardware. Sales will pick up when there is something new and powerful.
The cost of the download could be handled by the distributer since they no longer have shipping cost.
Not sure using Usher for a dancing game is a bad idea. I think all of the complaining about that is fanboy nonsense.
Syndicate sold over a million copies. Everyone knows that selling over a million means a game made a profit. If it doesn't what does that mean for a lot of other games that people think are successful.
If exclusives matter so much why hasn't Sony moved into second place by now. They have had six years and a bunch of exclusives. And tell Zippers former employees that sales don't matter.
And ignoring the business aspect is exactly why so many companies are going out of business. Sony fanboys are going to drive Sony into bankruptcy. Going on and on about exclusives and then ignoring them when Sony puts in the work. If you care so much, and fanboys don't, you'd be posting about what they really need to do to close the gap and be in a better position for next generation.
Every game I named was one they gave you in the last year. And you didn't buy t...
You have to acknowledge the business aspect as well. They are saving games for the next generation. Not losing money on the current. Twisted Metal, InFamous 2, SOCOM and Starhawk.
The Vita doesn't sell because Sony doean't have sense enough to price it to the market. No one is paying $300 for a handheld and additional cost to get a memory card. An overpriced card.
Sony did this to themselves. They made mistakes with the PS3 and it trickled down and hurt the rest of the business. No advertising, inability to make deals with other companies and it killed their credit.
Maybe they can't afford to cut the Vita. They will have ...
Microsoft also kinda pulled out of CES. You think maybe they feel they are a big enough company with enough things going on to have an event that deals strictly with their things. Since there have been rumors that the next Xbox may be called Xbox 8 and will be Windows 8 based, you think there might be the possibility that they could do a dual launch for both products. Add SmartGlass and Windows phone too. It's supposed to be an eco-system all it's own. Why not show it that way. That w...
Sly I'm black too. But it's over used when it isn't true and people are just using it to excuse their inability to do something. In this case, it's not a card. It's a fact.
And when it comes the the word nigger. No one can make you something by saying it. I'm not a nigger, so the word doesn't bother me. If you weighed 140lbs at 6 feet tall would it bother you if they called you fat. Don't let idiots make decisions for you. Like with finger poin...
Mass Effect does. Dragon shouts are pretty cool too.
But my comment was about having voice recognition built-in as opposed to a developer licensing a program or building their own engine. Which saves the developer time if they want to use that feature. It's the very reason developers have stated for doing some things on the 360 that they didn't do on the PS3.
Oh god. MS doesn't care about the core gamer. Parrot all of the popular fanboy crap you w...
