The current APUs aren't as good as the next will be when working with discrete GPUs. The APUs being released later this year and next year will be much better. There will also be adjustments made to the GPU architecture.
Actually the only word that sends a chill down my spine is Mufasa.
Ohhhhh. Say it again. "Mufassaaaa".
I believe the RAM is more about HSA than anything. Since the CPU and GPU will be writing to the same address it will need to be stored somewhere both can easily access it.
An 8800 should be more powerful. The Xbox had the more powerful GPU of the consoles and it's GPU was designed in 2004. A lot of changes came after 2004. Compare the Xenos to a card from 2004-05 and it competes pretty well.
I don't think they should tax the bible, I think they should ban it. Video games have a long, long way to go to catch the number of people killed by christians.
Right now the score is untold millions to none in favor of video games.
I think it uses 3gbs of the RAM because of the design of the APU architecture. Since the GPU and CPU are writing to the same memory more is pushed to the RAM where they can both use it as opposed to leaving things in the L1 or L2 for the CPU. I think it's something that will make the hardware better and better as devs get used to it.
Skype being a killer app may be going overboard but it would be another feature that pushes Xboxes. If you could call people on their phones, home and cell, through your gamertag and too their gamertag. Also if the new Xbox really can be a cablebox, having Skype video chat makes it far more likely Grandma orders a Xbox cablebox as opposed to a Motorola box. She may never play a game, but Grandmas are usually loose with the wallet when the kids come over and the kids might order games and movi...

Cliff Bleszinski is personally worth around 15 million. I doubt he has to beg for a job either. With the money he already has and his reputation he could fund his own development company. The guy must not be looking for work. I doubt if he isn't working though. I would bet he is quietly working on something.
Since games will be playable before the download is finished going to the store will not be close to being faster. Even a 25 gig game could be downloaded in 60 minutes or so so going to a store wouldn't much faster.
I don't think another game has to do it. Once the Internet turns against something it usually snowballs. And the Internet has been going against CoD lately. Whether or not something is good or there is a better option has never mattered before. The only thing needed is for the bad comments to keep coming.
Definitely still a huge seller. But over the next few years sales will fall more and more until it becomes a 5 million copy seller instead of a 25 million copy seller. Five is still great by most standards. But it will be a huge fall off.
I think Bobby is just trying to get ahead of diminishing CoD sales caused by higher BF4 sales. He can make all of the excuses he wants. The reality is many are getting tired of the annual re-hash CoD has become. Treyarch continues to try to innovate, but without Infinity Ward there to re-build the engines Bobby knows he has a problem.
Maybe Carmack hasn't been making as many games because he was busy teaching himself Aerospace Engineering and starting a company to make Lunar landers and space rockets. His company, Armadillo Aerospace, got a grant from NASA to continue their work on their prototype lander. So considering plans to return to the moon soon he is just a little bit busy right now.
Gamers aren't the ones buying the vast majority of guns. If there is never another video game with a gun in it, guns will continue to sell fine. Now if you said no one can ever bring up the second amendment again, that would hurt sales.
HDMI gives you the best picture. If the 720 is a DVR(rumors have said it is) it could easily replace Motorola DVRs. Plus would save so much money if the only thing needed is Gold.
If it's a threat depends on whether or not rumors of the HDMI in on the 720 are true. If it can replace a DVR, Motorola is in trouble. Their DVRs are terrible. If the 720 can replace it for a annual Live fee, I'll turn in my cable box. That saves me $16 per box per month. It's more than $16 for a multi-room DVR. Even at $15 a month for a subsidized 720, it's a good deal.
I don't believe there will be any budget console. I think there will be a subsidized and a un-subsidized way to buy the console. I also think there will be changes to Live and there will be additional tiers. I believe they will move to a Silver, Gold and Platinum tier.
Silver will now include MP.
Gold will include MP, some Apps and discounts.
Platinum will include MP, all Apps(including original content), bigger discounts and free games.

I'm not sure a price cut will do it. If the others subsidize their systems, they still undercut Nintendo with much better equipment. Nintendo needs to launch a new machine in the next three years or less. And they need to combine the chips in the Wii U to reduce cost. AMD has the tech to combine the chips and shrink them. They could then aggressively cut the price and wait until they can launch a new machine in 2016.
Nintendo's problem is a problem that happens in every industry. The doing business on the cheap issue. The Wii U was doing business on the cheap and that made Nintendo launch a current generation console 7 years into the generation. Someone should have had enough common sense to stop the top people from doing that. Gamers want better hardware, not new current hardware. They should have put more into R&D and launched a much better console two years ago. By this time they would have had...
Most of the work on the console releasing this year is most likely done. I doubt the new hires, except the hardware design verification engineer, will have much to do with the 2013 release. This is more likely about cost reduction and maybe Xbox Surface(as B1663 mentioned). Later re-designs for shrinking the console and the cost savings involved are a key to a generation where the two main competitors are more even in most other respects. Competition should be really good for gamers this gene...
