Gotta use the good stuff when your life is on the line.
It comes from normal people who don't live on gamer sites and aren't infected with sheep's disease. It's based on the much larger world that also buys consoles.
People keep mentioning a fee to pay for used games. What fee are they talking about. I don't see what initially changes for the consumer. The change is Gamestop and others like them don't make huge profits. Is this really about people wanting to protect Gamestop. I doubt that. So developers and MS or Sony making Gamestop pay them to make the game usable doesn't hurt you. It makes Gamestop have to accept less in profit. If Gamestop then gives you less, then that is their greed. <...
@hiphopisdead
You and other are acting as if Microsoft lied to you. They told you before hand what they were going to do. You wanted more games so you should have waited for E3 to watch. But since they did do exactly what they said they would on the reveal, maybe expect them to actually do games at E3.
I think most people just want to be with the crowd and complain. But there is nothing MS has done that Sony will not do or do similar. And there is nothing MS ...
"As for the fantasy of cloud power, if it works at all it will be for a relatively small percentage of people who have a sufficient internet connection, and if it's successful Sony can do the same thing."
Business companies already use cloud compute. It isn't a fantasy. And since they have said it will be used for non-latency sensitive code, I don't understand why anyone would think it's impossible to do. Also, I'm betting there are design featur...
@Clarence
It doesn't strike you as odd that Comcast announced a set-top box with similar features, size and case design as the Xbox one on the same day MS released. I've never seen Comcast use anything but Motorola boxes. Suddenly this unmarked box comes out. It looks like A One before the disc slot is cut into it. At some point someone is going to open it and reveal an Xbox One motherboard.
When MS talks about a billion units, things like this are w...
GT is realistic. I use others cars as a guardrail all the time.
I would love to see Total War on consoles.
This works like the Xbox in some ways.
The CPU and GPU of the console is usually the two most expensive parts. I've been saying for over a year that these machines will be cheap to make because of the APU and die size. If those numbers are accurate, and I believe they should be, these consoles will be sold at a nice profit at $400. And could easily be sold for $300 and break even or take a slight loss. In the 360 the CPU and GPU accounted for over $230. Once combined and shrunk they are most likely less than $25 now.

Oh I'm sorry. You're right. Developers are going to hack the PS4 and block used games themselves.
But you admit they only get 30-35 dollars. If they started out with a credit it's not bad. But if you buy a $60 game and trade it in for $35 in two weeks, you lose $25. Gamefly is cheaper than that. If you got two games, Gamefly is far cheaper. You spend $23 and get both.
I know Gamefly isn't the most dependable company in the world, but they would have more copies if more would deal with them rather than dealing with Gamestop. Actually the publishers could workout a ...
I'm not sure where the MS rumored policy changes anything for the consumer. They can still sell their game. It's Gamestop that has to pay to get it activated. And that money would then go to the develop/publisher and the console maker. I don't necessarily see why the console maker gets anything but it's their console. Degrading means a lot when anyone can sell a non degraded copy and potential keeps the developer from selling anew one. Whether you think people won't buy or...
It's funny that so many think Sony would never block used games. But if publishers decide to block used games on the PS4, whose technology is it you think they will be using. Sony didn't file that patent for nothing. Sony may not be robbing the bank, but they are driving the getaway car.
@steven83r
Where are you going that gives you $50 on a used game. I've never seen anyone do that. $35 maybe, but never $50. And Gamestop, the one most seem intent on protecting, will only give you $25 for a two week old game. And they will then sell it for $55. Digital products are different because they don't degrade. Take a car to a dealer two weeks later and the value will have gone down $4,000. And will be resold for significantly less than it was bought for a few...
How many people do you think tweeted. A million. Two million. Five million. How many consoles get sold. All three combined this generation maybe sold to two hundred different households. So it would be a small number at 5 million. Really small if it's less than that. Hit 50 to 70 million legitimate individual users and maybe someone will listen. But for right now, they are listening to the wish list on Amazon.
I have to give it to the Playstation websites today. They still take their little shots at Microsoft, but overall they are giving a unbiased view of the situation. It's unfortunate that they might have come to late to stop the momentum of the uninformed. But since it's all directed toward MS I guess they don't really care. Sony didn't file their patent under pressure from Microsoft. They filed it under pressure from developers and publishers. Both companies are under the same ...
It was a pretty good assessment of the situation. But the question that has me stumped is why are people so angry? It seems to me that nothing really changes for the consumer. If Gamestop was online complaining I would get it. They would have to develop a real business plan. But the gamer would still walk into Gamestop and get next to nothing for their game and use it to buy another game or take the cash. All of that remains the same.
For Gamestop it is different. They will ...
Madden let me get this straight. You believe Sony might be forced to block used games because of pressure from devs, publishers and MS. And they will be able to do this by... I guess, re-designing their console. Or is it more likely the console was designed with the ability and they were on the fence as to whether or not to use it.
I'm betting they knew from day one they were going to use it since they said they were leaving it up to devs and publishers. Your list of thin...
Where have you seen anything that said Surface sales were good. Everything I've seen or heard says that sales of both Surface RT and Windows 8 missed expectations by a lot. Surface Pro was said to sell decent. I guess the bubble extents to all Microsoft products.
@nobiggy
You think MS might have taken all of the information available that says consoles are used for non-gaming features as much as gaming. With the PS3 being used more for other things than ...
