That would be how to do it.

The real ignorance is that they would actually believe MS is watching them. If they were to put that in a user agreement it would be quickly noticed and they would lose most sales. If they were to do it without your permission they would be sued in civil court and the executives would go to jail. I doubt Steve Ballmer wants to go to jail.

Scary to think there are people ignorant enough to believe MS can just ignore that law.

It's gotten out of control because people are gullible and others are greedy. The greedy ones take advantage of the uninformed gullible ones. Here's some information for the uninformed, your cable box has been reporting your viewing habits for years. Everything you watch live, record, how long you watch or how many times. If you fast forward pass the commercials. But the gullible will read something and go into the end of the world mode because they are ignorant of the facts.

The author doesn't seem to get Sun Tzu's lessons himself.

Lesson one.

Consoles are used for far more than games. Surveys and studies have shown that they are more than gaming machines. PS3 users watch Netflix over 30% of the time. SO it could be said that Microsoft is the one attacking where the enemy is unprepared. The same as they did with Live this generation.

Lesson two.

Most of the information on the PS4 was leak...

Only a --ck disagrees with facts. Bubblez you assume it is taking away from gaming resources. NO one outside of MS knows what they had intended for games and what they intended for features. And for people to pretend that the PS4 won't have many, if not, all of the same features is a joke. But MS gets criticized for making those feature more convenient. I understand Sony remaining quiet since there is no attention on them right now. It's no different from the way things were on the PS...

GM makes a large profit on a car and a car degrades over time. A game doesn't so they are very different situations. That has never been a good comparison.

Whether or not there was a time when Gamestop didn't sell used games doesn't matter. Most of their profit is from used games and they are actually the largest seller of new games. Now if they feel they aren't making enough money on those new copies they should address that with the publishers. But to cheat...

If developers were wondering why the reveal was about what it was about then they are idiots since MS announced that that was what it would be about. It also makes you realize why gaming mechanics haven't moved passed exploding barrels and so many developers are going out of business. I can understand if they don't want to use Kinect and no one should be forced to add it. But i believe that smart developers will find uses for it. The idiotic notion that games will always be controlled...

I remember that. And then Nintendo dropped the ball on it. While they thought of exercise games that didn't fit their user base, I thought survival horror. Imagine a games where a enemy is coming after you and you have to pick a lock. As your heartbeat and pulse increase your hands within the game become shaky making it harder to pick the lock. Or when your character is running from an enemy. A higher heart-rate and pulse makes it harder to balance yourself. So sensing the heartbeat has g...

Relientk77 you may buy a console to play games. I'm sure everyone that buys a console bought it for that too. But the reality is that companies can measure what the machines are being used for. And the statistics show that consoles are being used for other things as much as they are being used for games. PS3 users use Netflix on their consoles more than Xbox gamers. So the idea that no one wants the other features is the mindset of a vocal minority of gamers. The statistical reality is th...

Arstechnica has a video on their site where Kinect hears a barely audible voice over loud gameplay noise. So it looks like Microsoft has already addressed your concerns there. I also find it funny that when people saw Minority Report the idea of using hand waves to navigate an virtual environment was considered cool. But now that we are moving toward that and Microsoft is the one doing it it suddenly makes you look like an idiot. Maybe you were against it from the start. But a lot of people a...

Until we really know what the new architectures bring and what the OS does with it we can't say the consoles are low-end or what end they are. I remember reading an interview with John Carmack where he talked about new techniques making older machine far more capable than when they were used. Until we actually get a breakdown of what these architectures can do and what the tools allow, we don't know.

Someone can have a souped up muscle car with a V-8 and it can get o...

I do see a difference in this guy and the Sony douche from Forbes. This is just a reporter that has next to no knowledge of gaming. He probably asked a few younger people he knew and they gave him a lot of information based on personal opinion. He then took a little information and ran with it.

The Forbes douche is different. The Huffington Post is a prospering website. Forbes is a failing magazine. Forbes is trying to go from one failing media form to the future of media and...

Timmy we do know Sony's stance. They said they wouldn't do it but they would leave it up to publishers to do it with their titles. With Sony tech BTW.

Or maybe it's the developers that want a piece of the action. Though there isn't a game develop out there that has half the talent of Gamestop. Who but Gamestop could have come up with a business model where you cheat people selling used games to you and then you turn around and sell them at nearly new prices for huge profits that you don't have to share with the developer. That is the work of true talent. Or are they real pimps? Whatever, it's all the same.
