Performances as in acting.
To answer the technical side, though. I remember very distinctly the PS3 version suffering from the most noticeable screen tearing I've seen in a game.
It didn't necessarily have filler. It just had problems with pacing.
YESSS! Thank you about that last point. I Remember commenting on here on a Heavy Rain remaster review and so many people were saying that this game has excellent performances which is a laughable statement.
The new 3DS just has a better CPU. No other hardware specs improved. Hardly capable of rendering much better visuals.
I don't think the 3DS has "so much more" to give. It's been out for 5 years. That is a typical generation. Sure, a little more levity can be had for handhelds because they don't need to be the most cutting edge all the time, but even so, I think we're approaching a new handheld and whether that turns out to be the NX or something else remains to be seen.
I'll give the 3DS another 1-2 years considering the New 3DS model only just came out last year ...
You don't have very developed reading comprehension skills, do you?
@NovaCorps
And??? I'm hyped as heck for Uncharted 4. It's one of my most anticipated of this year. It could end up being the best of the series with the better hardware allowing do much better set pieces and more of those wow moments that made the second game so mind blowing in 2009.
I can explain it easily. Standards change and what was at one point amazing is no longer amazing because you've seen the same thing so many times since or you've seen better implementations of mechanics and ideas that were once new. Uncharted 2 was a masterpiece in 2009 because of a lot of things. Excellent writing and characters that fit the game and in 2009, it basically "pioneered" set-pieces. It wasn't the first game to have set pieces, but it was the first to make t...
@EDMIX. I didn't say Beyond??? I said Beyond has better acting than Heavy Rain and that Mass Effect general has better acting than Heavy Rain. Nowhere in there did I imply Mass Effect's performances were better than Beyond: Two Souls, which if you want a David cage game to praise for its acting, BEYOND would definitely be it. Those performances are excellent. Not the ones in Heavy Rain.
I appreciate Heavy Rain and Beyond for being something different from the usual mainstream games. I appreciate that David Cage doesn't let criticism get to him and still sticks to his guns when making games. I appreciate a lot of the moments in both games, however there is a fine line between appreciating something and just downright bending over for it just because it's new or unconventional.
Heavy Rain has inconsistent performances. Some actors are good. Some are no...
And there are definitely plot holes. Those moments Ethan blacks out were supposed to be tied to some sort of super natural occurrence or something along those lines. It was going to play a huge part of the original release of the game, but that entire sub plot was cut out without ever removing any of the moments when he blocks out and appears in random places. It definitely has holes in it due to the cut elements that removed the legitimate purpose behind each of his black outs.
Performances were NOT excellent. European actors trying to fake American accents like Norman Jaden and Ethan and their accents constantly broke through. The kids especially in Heavy Rain are the worst child actors I've ever seen in anything. Not just video games.
Disagrees? Did any of you bother to look at the article and view the screenshots? Huge visual improvement. Way bigger improvement than the beyond: two souls remaster. A bunch of blind fools
Huge improvement. Yessss.
Now that I'm re-reading it, I understsnd. I don't know what I was thinking. Damn, I need to clear my head.
You can prefers art style all you want, but that doesn't mean it'll look good for every game. I prefer realistic visuals usually, but a game like Life Is Strange has a very stylized painted look to it and while not the perfect representation of that style what with the awkward hair, I could only see Life Is Strange with its indie aesthetic working well with its art style. Despite the fact that I prefer realism, a game like Life Is Strange works better with its look and Ni No Kuni and ...
It's not a matter of which you prefer. It's a matter of which fits a game more. Some games work best stylized. Some games work best realistic. That's just how it is. Can you imagine The Witcher 3 if it tried to be super stylized? It would not fit with the tone at all and just be jarring.
And I yawned at every time the first FEAR thought it was scary.
Hated the first project X zone so I find it hard to believe this second can be 10, considering I played the demo of this one and so I know the combat is still the same, which is to say basic and repetitive
Yes
