You need to be able to read a review and understand the point they're coming from and decide whether or not that would be a problem for you. YOU know what YOU like. If a review such as this lists being acceible and noob friendly as a positive and that's something you hate in rpg's, then you know right off the bat, to read the rest of the text of the review under that context. Knowing that it's noob friendly, I have no interest in this game so whether it scores a 9 or a 6 DOESN...
A 6/10 isn't a bad score. It's an average score. Also, something being addictive is purely subjective. What's addictive to one person is not addictive to someone else and reviews are supposed to be as objective as possible. You have to be subjective when reviewing a game obviously. 100% objectivity is impossible, but any good review should remain as objective as possible and the reviewer should separate personal preference and or bias from the objective analysis of the game. For a...
Ummmm you clearly started gaming last gen. Look at Sega Master System to Sega Genesis. Xbox to Xbox 360. Playstation to playstation 2. GAMECUBE to wii. The list goes one. The AVERAGE console cycle is 4-5 years before the successor is introduced. 6 years is when it starts getting long and last gen was like 8 years which is unprecedented for a console generation. You're probably spoiled by how long last gen lasted.
Final Fantasy 15 is the only one here I'm maybe picking up just because I so desperately want it to be amazing even if my actual expectations aren't very high considering I preferred what we would have gotten with controlling your party members directly in Final Fantasy Versus 13, but what's done is done. I can't dwell on that and just hope the incarnation we have now is good.
I wouldn't consider yakuza an RPG, but the others were added, which is odd that they weren't on here because the kingdom hearts 2.8 was in my mind while I was compiling the list and Project Setsuna is a game I personally was excited for when it got announced. This year has so many rpg's releasing. Republique on current gen consoles was considered for the list also, but got left out since it's ultimately just a late port of a mobile and pc game.
It has been updated. It will continue to be updated as more games for the year get announced and as we learn more of specific release dates.
Those completely slipped by. Will be updated
Depends on the game. In an RPG, traditional progression is absolutely needed. That's just part of the genre, for example. Other games that are extremely complicated and have a lot to them also need mechanics and abilities drip-fed, otherwise it becomes overwhelming and the player won't get a good enough grasp of what he/she can do.
Patiently awaiting a proper Battlefield 5
Well I never played Metal Gear Rising and I wouldn't consider that a "licensed" game in the same sense as legend of Korea, tmnt, or transformers because it metal gear began life as a video game franchise so it's not exactly the same thing.
What's with platinum doing so many licensed games nowadays? Is it because Their original IP's don't sell so much and they're hoping to recoup costs by drawing in fans of these licenses or what? It seems a little worrying to me that they're doing so many licensed games. We all know they work best with their original IP's. *cough* Bayonetta *cough*
I just read it. It was good. I wish I could have done a full blown review of it if I got to finish it in a more timely manner, but I've played enough at 75 hours to make an article like I did just highlighting it as a game to look into.
This may sound odd, but one of the reasons I'd aspire to be a video game journalist and work for a mainstream publication is to give games like this more attention. My taste in games is diverse. I'll enjoy anything that's good regardless of genre or cultural influences, but it always saddens me when a game like this doesn't get recognized. It easily has the quality to be nominated for best handheld game and best RPG of 2015, but these western journalists either haven't pla...
More accessible. I'm excited for Final.
Yeah. I wasn't going to get dead or alive extreme 3 at all, but the fact that it isn't releasing here just because the developers are afraid of dealing with criticism from people here about how women are portrayed makes me want to import it and give them money just based on principle. People are scaring off developers. It's not a game I was interested in the slightest in. I'd rather have a proper Dead or Alive 6, but because Extreme 3 isn't releasing in the west for fear o...
Sounds like you just hate the idea of sexy women in gaming which is quite absurd. Thinking completely logically, the target audience is still largely males(those statistics about half of women being gamers include mobile games and facebook games and all that junk none of us here would consider real games) and video games are entertainment.
As Tomonobu Itagaki, the Dead or Alive creator once said, and this is paraphrasing "this is entertainment and it's only natural t...
I played it on PS4 and its input delay was so bad that I dreaded every combat encounter. Every other Tales game I played was way more responsive. Even the Tales of Symphonia Chronicles collection on PS3 that ran at 30FPS instead of the GAMECUBE version's 60fps felt more responsive. Hell the 3DS version of Tales of The Abyss felt more responsive. That input delay is really bad in that game. For how fast paced Tales is, the delay made it a chore. It's a well documented issue that's ...
Yeah. I think Zestiria is one of the worst Tales games I've ever played. It's the only one I played that I didn't even bother to finish because it was that bad. The horrible characters and input delay in fights was torture. I couldn't do it.
*cough* nostalgia goggles *cough* take them off.
This is not one of those endlessly enduring classic games like Super Mario 64 or The original 2D Mario games or even the sonic the hedgehog games on genesis or half life. Turok is very easily dated. Hell, I played it as far back as 2008 and it already felt archaic and dated 7 years ago, so I can't imagine how much worse it would stuck up now, seven years later.
Some games are timeless, but not all games rem...
Ratchet and clank didn't need multiplayer, but the ps2 games had good multiplayer and then all of a sudden multiplayer is absent from the proper series on PS3??? It wasn't even bad to begin with so why remove it??? That's something that never made sense to me.
