PS3 was the only console I gamed on last gen and fully agree with everything mentioned in the other comments - even paid online gaming since it's becoming a console standard. Fortunately for me, I also game on PC.
Dx, I agree but would add the popularity growth of FPS's, dumbing down of games (i.e. regenerative health), and overabundance of sequelitis.
It was much more than just online related issues. And sadly, I don't expect this gen to fare any better.
I always thought that Frank Thomas Big Hurt was as close that you could get to a simulation bb game during its day. Nice list, though. The Show IMO is a definite #1.
Well said, TDM.
Coming from someone who's put a good majority of my MP gaming hours in Hustle Kings, I will be all over this.
"...or perhaps the dumber aspects of the human psyche of otherwise intelligent people..."
LMAO!

Yes, it's true. The game is programmed to penalize foul language, just as referees do in real life. After all, it is a sim.
OT, this is a shady move on 2K's part...especially for those of us who purchased the game early.
Good luck with that. Surprisingly, I managed to nab one during "restock Sunday" yesterday. All the reserve tickets had been issued out before they could even open the door.
....our time with him is broken up a lot by the game over screen. These enemies die quickly, but hit hard. And while Strider features many concessions to modern design conventions, a gentle difficulty curve isn’t one of them. In a project being made by both east and west – with Capcom Osaka the guiding hand and California’s Double Helix the heavy lifter – that seems like a decision that came from Japan.“It has more to do with heritage than anything,” says producer James Vance, an America...
Man, you are soooo right. I still play 007:EoN to this day, being greeted by that title screen precursor.
Same luck here...or I should say, lack thereof.
"I wonder how long this lasts."
Well, within 12 minutes of your posting it was already out of stock.
It shows "In Stock", but when you try to add it in your cart, it says the item is no longer in stock.
And that fast, it's no longer in stock :(

I have that same annoying bug on my GS4. And what's even more annoying is that it won't let me close out my open browser tabs.
Good interview. I hadn't had much interest in Live since Live 2004, but I am interested in seeing how this will turn out.
Totally agree. And it just seems to get worse with each piece of news that drops. But I've heard more than enough for me to pass on this one, with regenerating health and the see-through-walls thingy being the biggest offenders. Sadly, I saw signs of this coming a mile away when it became apparent in MGS4 that you practically had access to every weapon and every bit of ammo you would ever need early on in the game. That along with the "option" of going stealth or guns-blazing - ...
Just nabbed this off Steam with the preorder bonus. Curious as to why they aren't releasing a PS3 version.
@ Chapter
If that's true about the regenerating health then that makes this an automatic no buy for me. It's one thing that Kojima has been taking this "'steath' or guns-blazing" approach with the recent games, and now this?? And people wonder why the stealth genre is becoming a dying breed.
Although it's true that console ports of the arcade were vastly inferior, you have to consider the fact that the technology was not as advanced, even during those times, as it is today. But despite that, it's hard to dismiss the convenience the console ports offered. SF2 was amazing on the SNES. Now I can agree that the overall arcade experience (notably the social aspect) will never be replicated like it was.
And by the way, I STILL own my SNES version of KI. Had KI ...
