I have a Playstation 3 and I have no intention of ever buying Metal Gear Solid 4. I never followed the series. I don't know or care about the story. An Snake looks like an old fart in tights. I actually bought my Playstation 3 for WipeOut HD and Little Big Planet.
PSP has the new Slim model out, DS never fails to be in demand (no matter what time of the year it is), Wii will sell out of what ever Nintendo puts out on the market, Xbox 360 has a fantastic library of games from the course of the two years it's been out and in addition to being an affortable system with a 2 game pack in and Sony's Playstation 3 has just hit $399. Everything is going to do well this Christmas.

Both Blizzard and Activision in terms of 3rd parties and developers are large enough as it is. The last I heard, Activision had taken the crown as largest 3rd party from EA earlier this year. Blizzard is Mammoth in the PC world. The company formed by these two giants could possible rape all other 3rd parties and rule the world! Ha ha ha ha ha... UGH! This could be interesting and fun if not terrifying.
@harv052, The fact that Assassin's Creed was birthed on the Xbox 360 has been well documented. Most of the Media had seen early version running on Xbox 360 hardware well before its official announcement. That is pretty much why the media was dumbfounded when it was only announced as a Playstation 3 title (at the time). I don't think it's zaything fault that you were sick the 2 months that it was constantly talked about within the media.
Lets see, what are some of the games that Playstation 3 folks keep yapping about... Haze (FPS Halo wanna be), Killzone 2 (FPS Halo Wanna Be), Unreal III (FPS), Resistants Fall of Man (FPS Halo Wanna Be), Call of Duty 4 (FPS)... If I were correct, that amounts to a good number of FPS. Even titles such as Metal Gear and Uncharted and shooters be it 3rd person.
Development on Metal Gear Solid 4 started long before the Playstation 3 was ever released. It was natural to think that Playstation 3 would out perform its competition, the Wii and Xbox 360 (given Sony's Track Record). However the Playstation 3 failed to make the impact that Sony promised. Nope, I haven't played it but I don't place judgment on a game I haven't played as you have. Given Capcom's track record, it's sure to be a hit. If I were a gambling man, I'd say that Gamingshouldbefun and squallsan are the same person.
Although Play Magazine had the first Screen shots more than a month ago, there are a few new ones in this lot. The game looks fantastic. Hopefully Secret Level will capture the magic of the original Golden Axe series.

Hopefully that translates into an international demo as well. The game is due in February and therefore warrants a demo none the less.
This Christmas may have a large roll in the future of the Playstation 3. I'm sure many 3rd parties are watching PS3's Software sales. If it does well, we many see a port of BioShock 2 for Playstation 3. If software sales don't meet expectations, than you probably won't.
I did go to a number of retailers Black Friday and over the weekend. I witnessed the same thing. Xbox 360 Pro's and Elites sold out. Wii's Sold out and what looked like limitless mountains of Playstation 3 systems everywhere.
There's about 18 games on this system and they just repeat over and over. It's just a Famicom System. Different Chinese Piraters keep putting out the same hardware and rom in different cases to make them look more modern.

At the current rate that Wii's and Xbox 360's are selling, it's not possible for the Playstation 3 to catch up. It is doing better due to the recent price drop but the reality is that the Playstation 3 will remain 3rd place this Generation.
