The Crystal Tools engine, originally named the White Engine, is a game engine built by Square Enix to be used on all seventh generation game consoles; the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Microsoft Windows PCs, and some of its technology for Wii.[1]

Crystal Tools, as stated by Tetsuya Nomura, was created in the switch from the PlayStation 2 to the PlayStation 3 during the development of Final Fantasy XIII, Final Fantasy Versus XIII, and Final Fantasy XIV[2] with Nomura commenting that in...

FF13 was always from day one being made on the same multi plat engine that it is on today. Never was a PS3 exclusive engine. FFv13 is on the same engine. To say that FFv13 will be gimped because the engine is multi plat is just dumb. The engine is designed to allow ps3 and PC to be developed for at the same time. Everyone knows the PC still has the most potential for graphics. However because it's a pc engine also, it's extremely easy to port to 360. Take that however you will but that should...

I actually have played warhawk on a dedicated server. Plays like butter. Warhawk is a big game for Sony. I doubt they would let it run bad. I just find it hard to believe that anyone who has both systems really can say they have had worse lag issue with live then PSN. Look at MGO as a great example. Good luck downloading the patches and fixes for it and once you do, good luck even getting a match going. That is a type of situation that can happen on the PSN. Its not the most common but the PS...

But will it fix the resolution to something higher then the 360 version?

How did you go from hardcore sony fan boy to hard core 360 fan boy? What happened besides a possible new person using your account?

Sony exclusives....With Live every developer gets to use Microsoft's servers for free. Hell, if you think about it. Assuming that all multi plats sold half and half for both consoles, if Microsoft STOPPED charging and providing servers to all devs for free, than both systems would rely on developers having their own servers lessening the experience for both the PSN and Live users. Because we pay, PSN users have less traffic on their developer owned servers.

I do. I have a PS3 and 360 and Wii. The PS3 service is slower then live. No question. Free silver account allows you to get demos, watch trailers, have friends, send and receive mail. You pay for gold to get online play of games. Why pay? Well because Microsoft provides the servers for developers instead of forcing developers to pay for them. I pay so 6 years later I can pop in a xbox game and still play it online if I want. I pay for FASTER (yeah, it is and like I said, I DO know) server con...

Every game I've played online with my PS3 has been plagued with lag and or slow downloads. I tried to download the batman demo for my PS3 and it took 3x as long as it did when I got it for my 360.

When Microsoft first started live you payed because it was the only way to get more developers to give their games online content. Before then, hardly any games (on consoles) had this feature. Microsoft proved them with a already set up environment so the developers wouldn't have to pay...

"Control-wise, you're looking at a carbon-copy of Halo 3. There are no true tactical additions or attempts to make things go more smoothly. This is becoming a real sour-spot for the Halo series, considering the emergence of the FPS genre on the Wii. There's simply no going back once you experience the fluent targeting of IR aiming in The Conduit or Metroid Prime Trilogy. By comparison, Halo is starting to look like a dinosaur that's unable to evolve thanks to its analog controller."...

Well considering all the stuff you get with that version of the game. You are spending even less then 90. You get the hardened edition and all of its goodies which is 80$ by itself. A head bust and Night vision goggles. Assuming the bust is 10$ value (I have no clue), you are spending about 60$ on these things. According to Amazon, they are fully-functional, wearable, adjustable Night Vision Goggles with individually numbered and engraved Collector's Stand. Custom-designed and painted goggles...

I'm kinda disappointed in you for making this post. Please elaborate on your disappointment at least. Why do the people that bought this edition now looked down upon by you?

The pics are from an assembly plant. They receive the parts from parts manufacturers (not made by those people in the pics) and it is their job to just put the parts together on the items they receive. Yes they could be the people that make you silly dolls but that's like blaming Block Buster for having crappy movies available for rent.

Please explain what looks cheap about them? You didn't expect top of the line tech which how could you tell really from these pic how good that is, unless you know the components. But how can you tell how "cheap" they really are? You say they will last a week.... but what will you be doing with them for a week? Playing tennis with them (by that I mean using them as the ball)? What can you really tell from these pics?

Yeah and that dolor a day will buy food, pay rent, cell phone bill etc etc. The cost of living is low there. That is why we outsource to them and why they love taking work from us. To them, we pay good and offer lots of jobs. To us, we are getting the work done cheap and saving money for the same quality if not better (because we get more for our money).

On the topic of Half Life 2 having bad graphics, I would like to point out that the game came out nearly six years ago. As a comparison, the Unreal 3 engine came out in 2005 (when they started showing off the engine). Epic is hoping to have unreal 4 engine ready by at least 2012. That is a 7 year cycle. Of course they have released many games through this engine. None I think you would classify as mods.

If you think that Valve isn't working on a new engine to Power their next big...

Did you read the article?

Microsoft removed the requirement to produce all games at native 720P. Does Sony require all games to be made at a specific resolution? <--not trying to prove a point, seriously asking).

Just because they lifted the restriction doesn't mean that every game from now on will be low res. It just means the developers have a choice.

I assume this is the same with Sony.

I seriously doubt these are all made up. In case you haven't noticed, any die hardcore 360 fans that would do that have pretty much all been run out by all the hardcore PS3 crazy fan boys. In fact, when something bad is posted about the PS3, I tend to see people arguing with themselves because no one is arguing with them.

the Crazy PS3 fan boys are very paranoid. <---note: the crazy ones, not the non crazy ones.

I think what everyone is experiencing is due to multiple skus. PS3 has gone through MANY hardware revisions changing its actual hardware (not just hdd size) many times. Of course some people are going to have issues while some don't. You are essentially playing with different hardware.
