What are the odds that one person stole the credit card information of 10 million people?
Slim.
All in all, good news to hear. And he managed to throw Anonymous under the bus as well? Priceless.
I would've been happy if they shut down PSN for a few weeks when the root keys were put online to redo security. Well not happy, but I would've understood.
Anything you pay for when you have Plus membership, you get to keep if you let your membership lapse. If it's free, it gets disabled. Maybe they would find a way to change that in this case, but it would be misleading for anyone who doesn't know this and decides to enroll in the service.
It's like saying "Here, have these games and themes for a month and then we'll take them back. If you want the stuff back, you have so sign up for our service." Make...
I love ps+ but its kinda rough to give people free access to it and then have all the stuff you download disappear after a month. The only way this works is if you charge a penny for everything so you at least get to keep it.
Many sites are posting flamebait articles to get hits. The truth is irrelevant.
I was referring to the fact that Black Ops is the #1 selling game on PS3. God knows I don't like the game but a free map pack would make a lot of people happy.
If you use the same password for PSN that you use for email, then you allowed your email to get unnecessarily exposed. Everyone knows you aren't supposed to use the exact same password across multiple accounts for this exact reason.
Just finished it an hour ago. Single player campaign is awesome! Still waiting to try the co-op though...*sigh*
I guess we'll see.

Aftef the Infinity Ward blowup, I lost my respect for Activision last year but bought Black Ops reluctantly. Was disgusted with it inside a week. Sold it online and used the money for AC:B. And with Uncharted 3, Battlefield 3, and rumors of Assassin's Creed 3 coming this year? Please. Call of what?
A personal account hack is no big deal? The article I read made it seem like a big deal...

Microsoft really can't say anything. Especially when their head of Live security got HIS account hacked earlier this month.
This is only the beginning. Soon the media wil turn its attention to Microsoft and Nintendo and the security of their networks. And they are going to have to tread very carefully because the moment you say publicly "This could never happen to us; our system is secure", hackers all around the world will go "Oh, really...".
A problem for months? Try years. A friend of mine bought a 360 at launch and so far he's happily gone through at least six of them. And while each one was sent out for repairs, he would buy an Arcade to keep playing. To each his own.
I LOVE that Anonymous is catching the shrapnel from this. Their image is just as tarnished as Sony's at this point.
There's an old chinese proverb: "He who seeks vengeance must first dig two graves. One for his enemy and one for himself."
For someone possibly stealing their name, address, email address, and PSN username/password?
Free game or two. They could build some goodwill with the masses by giving away the next CoD map pack when PSN gets it.
Glad to know it's over...until the next system war which begins at e3. Hmmm, a "war" that is fought every 5 years over video game consoles. One might say it is sounds meaningless.
How do you know your information was stolen? Sony doesn't even know that...
