Maybe it's the live execution of the hackers responsible for the outage...
*fingers crossed*
*sigh*
Modern Warfare 3 without the writers, director, and most of the crew that worked in the previous two.
That worked out great for the X-Men movies, right?
The only thing these hackers said is that if whoever did this was part of Anonymous, even if they did it without the consent of the group, then Anonymous did it. One of the sucky parts of being "Legion ", I guess.
PS3 is released with OtherOS in 2006. The slim PS3s which came out in 2009 never had OtherOS. And only a small fraction of people who ever had OtherOS actually used it.
So the entire PS3 community should pay the price because a tiny portion of users (10% is being too generous) are having a hissy fit?
Do these hackers not realize they are dooming their cause with this crap? Right now, they have put so much heat on themselves it is ridiculous. Global heat. Now you can forget about ANY company EVER allowing ANYONE the slightest bit of access to their systems. Sony has a history of allowing people in but that all ends because people couldn't play nice with OtherOS.
This is a biblical shitstorm that they have called down on themselves. Publicly committing cyber-terrorism ...
So they did it and then left evidence that they did it so they could then deny that they did it? You just blew my mind.
The key word was "possible". When it comes to an "organization" with no actual structure or leadership, anything is possible. They might be lying, a rogue Anon might have done this alone, or the person who did this might have no connection to them and is using Anonymous as a scapegoat. Which wouldn't be hard to do when you look at all the time and effort Anonymous has spent attacking and threatening Sony. But either way...
Delicious.
$21 billion compared to the $14 trillion we're at now? That's a drop in the bucket. Nevermind the fact that we spend trillions on tax breaks...
http://www.tax.com/taxcom/t...
So it's possible that Anonymous is being framed for something they didn't do and their reputation could be forever tarnished as a result?
Delicious.
The US spent a decade and over a trillion dollars on 2 wars to kill one person. We can afford this.
Dammed if you do, dammed if you don't.
How long did the US goverment wait to tell people that the Gulf of Tonkin incident was a lie? The one that got the US involved in Vietnam and resulted in the death of millions. Like, thirty years?
If only they could join forces somehow...
Does every room in your house have the same locks as your front door?
Sony didn't know. They had to hire outside firms to assess the intrusion who then told them what happened. They found out Monday and told consumers Tuesday. And its still unknown as to what was stolen, if anything.
@halochampian
The system was secure for almost five years. That's five years of people chipping away at Sony's defenses before someone got in. Five years of security firmware updates to keep the hackers at bay. Anyone will tell you that PS3 security was top notch until someone found a way in. Nothing is uncrackable but Sony held up longer than the other systems this gen.
You can't just change the keys. They're embedded in the hardware and on the game discs so they can be verified as legit. Sony would've had to replace every existing ps3 with a new key AND somehow find a way to put that same code on the discs.
But this is assuming that the system was where the breach came from and not from another source. What if the hack wasn't through the ps3 at all?
Let's say you bought a safe and put all your valuables in it. Years later, someone breaks into your house, cracks open the safe, and steals everything inside.
Now, who's to blame:
You, for putting all your stuff in the safe?
The people who made the safe, for making a safe that could one day be cracked?
or
The person who broke into your house and stole your stuff?
GT5: Massive success
Socom4: It's been out less than 2 weeks
DC Online: Success

KZ3: Selling on par with Killzone 2
LBP2: GOTY contender
..and a bunch more exclusives to come.
Haters gonna hate.
This is the treatment these hackers deserve...
