Mine would have to be the first Mortal Kombat. Game is about a fighting tournament; movie is about a fighting tournament. Simple. Why Hollywood struggles with adapting games is beyond me.
Now that I think about it, I liked Silent Hill also.
Hopefully it's not the same approach Hollywood took with the Hitman movie...*shudder*
That would be a disaster of the highest magnitude. Imagine Sony trying to tell the developers that rely on PSN for income to wait another month to start making money again.
I think it has more to do with the fact that everytime Sony announces a time frame something unexpected comes up. Plus, they need to do everything they can to make sure none of this ever happens again. If it takes a month, so be it.
OK, how long should it take to rebuild and re-secure a global online network that over 50 million people use?
About a month sounds about right...
It's weird. If this game got a 5 or 6, I would definitely avoid it. But somehow, because it got a 3, part of me wants to play it. Not enough to buy, though...
I'll bet you will... ;)
Kinect has sold more but is costing Microsoft much more than Move cost Sony. $500 million on marketing alone? Plus Microsoft just spent billions buying Skype to give Kinect a little more functionality.
I think this game is going to be my "Heavy Rain" of 2011. By that I mean a game that I go in with no little to no expectations and wind up being blown away by the end.
Was there any confirmation to the rumor that Activision got Microsoft to raise the price of Live so they could get a piece of that fee? I remember Kotick was bitching about not getting any revenue from Live and then the price went up a few months later.
Maybe that was the price Microsoft paid to get the CoD maps first?
They did say they weren't involved but it doesn't help their credibility when a week before they were talking about performing their biggest attack ever on Sony. Then one of their own admitting that because of the (for lack of a better word) anonymous nature of Anonymous, someone from the group may have done this on their own and they would technically be credited to Anonymous. And also Sony saying they found a file in one of the hacked servers that points to Anonymous involvement. <...
You own the system but not the software. The same way that if you buy a pc, you don't own the operating system, you licensed it. If I tried to modify Windows so it could do what I want and then put the information online, I could expect a lawsuit from Microsoft. Especially if the information I put up could be used to get around Microsoft's security, which could be a violation of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act.
If it comes out (and it probably will) that the syst...
It's not so much about the service being down, it's about someone having a grudge with a company and taking it out on you by messing with something you paid for...
...and then lying about being involved even though they themselves admit they might be...
..and then when confronted with evidence that says they were involved, turning the blame on the company they attacked...
...and finally, it's about them just being consistently vai...
So Anonymous is deflecting the attention that Sony (rightfully) put their way by saying "Sony is bad. They do bad business things. Look at them. Leave us poor cyber-criminals alone".
Pathetic.
Love the last paragraph of the article:
"Alright, so Sony gets hacked and all user personal information gets stolen. Anonymous then proceeds to jump up and go “SUCK IT SONY WE OWNED YOU!” But the second Homeland Security gets involved, they’re saying 'W-w-well we didn’t mean we did it, when we said we did it… P-please dont tell my mommy.'"
Did I miss the point where Sony said that all personal data was stolen, though?
Rebug was custom firmware released on March 31 that gave people the ability to turn their system into a dev kit. From there, people learned it could be modified into giving access to the developer network. Days later, rumors were spreading about using Rebug to get free stuff from the PSN Store, since developers can choose what stuff is made free. PSN gets shut down a few days after that.
It's not strange to think that Sony knew about this exploit and was working to patch...
This again?
It can't be both?
I completely agree. I enjoy playing online but how many Team Deathmatches and Free for Alls across however many games is a person expected to play in a year without getting bored.
Multiplayer is supposed to be the icing on the cake. But this gen, people only want to eat the icing.
I also liked Anonymous at first (anyone who trolls Oprah on her show raises my interest). The things they did were funny and at least made sense (I also hate Westboro).
Now, I wouldn't piss on them if they were on fire. Starting with the Jessi Slaughter attack, they seemed to have somehow come unhinged. This Sony attack makes no sense especially because:
1. Geohot and graf were being tried in courts of law, not courts of Sony. And graf's case is a cri...
They said that before they found out that SOE was breached.
