Well I don't keep track of the specific examples, but a title, previously released on disc, which later might appear on, say, PSN are generally priced HIGHER than their disc counterparts.
Additionally, "AAA retail launch games are typically $50 - $60 on Steam....same as console versions," games purchased digitally have almost no reason to NOT be cheaper considering there is no manufacture, transport, or storage cost on the part of the publisher so it would make ...
Only because they are being kept that way artificially. Steam is the prime example, but there are others, which blatantly show how, not only games don't need to be so expensive, but how they can be made available in a more convenient and more affordable package for the consumer.
It's win-win. The company keeps the customer locked in with their download service and there's no need to manufacture discs, shipping, all that, just servers.
But chargin...
Agreed, it's just a nice trump card to be able to boast about, but not at the cost of a belated launch window, or excessively high price tag to boot.
If you don't have that though, you can only succeed on your merits alone, meaning Sony must do everything else right, or else hope the competition does something monumentally wrong.
I might add, that this DOES succeed in a way that 3D couldn't, due to the glasses, cost, et cetera, but similarly achieves another level of immersion, if only a mostly passive way.
If priced correctly I would imagine this could bstt 3D tech in both cost feasibility and convenience (not to mention, I'd imagine, nowhere near the performance hit 3D has on games).
Way to innovate.
Now if it were built-in to a console and you placed the whole rig in one place that would be best. As of now though it's getting a bit, peripherally crowded device-wise I think... you'd have your console, then your Kinect (okay integrated in the future) then your Illumiwhatever.
I know it's sort of the only way to do it, but it really starts to gear your setup toward a more tech-savy crowd than the Kinect was intended for... IDK. ...
May be worth the dollar amount, but one of the main cruxes of the handheld/tablet gaming environment (or any gaming system console/PC/anything) is ease-of-use, comfortablity, et cetera.
All I can say is my arms get tired holding up my cell phone for too long, not to mention my original Ipad. There's too much, I think, working against this product, but I hope it can succeed :)
... returns from Project Glass wiki page...
Fu#$#$!!!
Well, at least someone's making it! :)
I just had the greatest idea in the history of the universe and it's all because of the first comment...
Not a mobile gaming device that makes it EASIER to be IMOBILE! yourself, but one that you can use WHILE moving!
Augmented reality overlays!!!
Go jogging and the lightweight lenses and head-mounted unit display an augmented overlay of "obstacles" in your environment, from traditional hurdles to a burning fiery ring, or a freak...
Prise-wise I don't reaaally get who these devices (Shield as well) are geared towards...
World of Starcraft... maybe?
Never played World of Warcraft games, but sound neat huh?
Don't really care much about either series, but speculation is mildly entertaining.
It's official... video games caused the Holocaust, yet... we still.. buy them.
Also, if nothing else, (without commenting on the ludicrous claims made by this study) it proves that WITHOUT video games, something like the Holocaust and all the other atrocities of this world have and still occur on a daily basis.
You can't behind that goatee and futuristic space armor Tom Selleck, we see you ;)
There's a method of doing this that's built into games... it's called "make your game better and people wont wanna sell it."
Create a 720 that, when you set a tablet or phone on it, they charge and sync game data.
There are so many options companies could choose... they just have to learn to innovate.
At least Nintendo TRIES to innovate (gimmicky implementation or not).
Linearity... with little shooting and at best probably an abysmal stealth system for slinking past walkers unseen...
The dev guy on IGN interview was so full of it, but he STILL couldn't make the game sound interesting.
Hope I'm wrong, for the fans' sake.
So we should all... petition Disney now?
DO IT!
Would be cool.
Maybe ancient China.. somewhere in the Orient definitely.
Hell, Japan 2133
A Wii-brator for my girlfriend?
or a Wiildo?
... ummmm, copyright infringe much? I kid, you said it first... sly devil you ;)
What do you mean function-wise?
If it's running Windows 8 what would be your concern??
I'm confused :)
Laptop replacement I can SEE!, but not portable gaming replacement, not by a long shot.
