Because as thetruthinator mentioned, the "fun factor" aspect of just a limited beta/demo out weighs that of others full game!
You're so right, it's not fair that so many people had to purchase a broken game to realize that!
you guys keep forgetting that BFBC2 also has small infantry only maps/gamplay (squad team deathmatch & squad gold rush). So to me they are comparable... it's just that BFBC2 has a whole lot more variety!
that they are very comparable because the BFBC2 DOES have small maps & infantry only gameplay (squad team deathmatch & squad goldrush) just like MW2, we just haven't played those modes yet. So they are comparable so to speak. The biggest difference that BFBC2 also has the traditional big BF maps with vehicles as well. I'm sure DICE will probably add some new infantry only modes in the future (to keep things fresh), they're pretty good for supporting their games.

Mind was changed from the first hour of playing both (PS3). I rented MW2 and I was in the PS3 beta. I played the game everyday of the beta and had a tear in my eye when it ended.
I remember being so frustrated playing MW2 for that week I had it and feeling so much joy when play BFBC2 because of how much fun I was actually having.
Put it this way... the last time I played MW2 multiplayer, I died 14 times in a row because of spawning with my back to the opponent, I did...
back then it was was awesome! The missions, the AI, the tense feeling I use to get playing those first 2 GH games. It wasn't about gadgets & weaponry, it was about going into enemy territory with a small team of ghost operatives to search & destroy or rescue hostages!
Now it's all about gadgets & weaponry... the game seems way too easy especially with the UAV that points out enemy target for you with big red boxes... you don't have to do any work at all!
I for one saw the signs and I was smart enough to just rent it.... best $8 I ever spent, because it saved me from dropping almost $80 CAD on this so call game!
In the 7 days I had the game... I finished the campaign 4 times, the spec ops co-op once and leveled up to 29 (no prestiege). The funny thing is that the day I brought it back the BFBC2 beta was released and I had more FUN playing that one map over & over as opposed to the entire game of MW2!
to me it seems that Ubisoft does favour the 360 over the other 2 platforms (when it comes to their high quality next-gen games, not the wii exclusives). I guess most of their studios prefer the 360.
I've been in the IT industry since 1988 and I can tell you that 95% of all M$ products are someone else's idea, since the inception of the company. Starting with the first version of DOS (which was purchased from a programmer in Texas for $50,000), Windows was another rip from Apple, parts of Office were bought out from other companies to create the suite to compete with Lotus and even Hotmail was purchased from another company that created it... I could go on for quite some time.
if you had the $$$ to purchase the PS3 when it was considered expensive (with the 20gb,40gb,60gb or 80gb drives)... an additional $40-$100 shouldn't be too much for a 160gb-500gb hdd upgrade! Now is a good time to take the plunge!
Edit: @SilentNegotiator why not double your space for the same price (it's the exact same drive I have in all 3 of my ps3's). WD is a better hdd than Seagate, I just sent back 5 Seagate drives for my customers (they tend to have more bad batches than WD...

and I didn't buy the game because of;
a) the balance issues... we would always have less players in most of our matches (valor).
b) the sver acquisition map was the hardest map to attack in the entire game, out of about 75 times playing it, we won maybe 20 times, if that, the sections in front of the sver bunkers were more wide open & had better lighting to see enemies than the other 2 factions.
c) I love teamwork but having to depend on more than the eight players in my...
you're expecting everyone to jump for joy thanking IW for making such a great game? Sure, according to you we should be praising them and their game for giving most of us, the most frustration in a game we've experienced in a long time, while they took our (the gaming consumer in general) hard earned money.

It because M$ want it's larger user base to purchase new 360 with game+250gb bundles to keep their sales of the console up. 360 sales will not increase if they just sell the drive separately or at a reasonable price... there's just no $$$ in that logic
If you're a hardcore 360 fan you will fork over the cash for the latest & greatest bundle with the largest hard drive (MW2 bundle anyone?)... next fall it will be the Halo:Reach bundle and so on, and so on.
It's reasons like this that keep me from purchasing a 360... nickel & diming the consumer is a M$ past time I just can't deal with! $172 for 250gb??? I got a 500gb Western Digital laptop hdd for $100 CAD (that's in Canadian dollars to boot!).

Why don't you pick it up first day and play the single player while they workout the kinks? If you're a trophy whore you can play the game a few times to obtain your single player trophies. Just a thought.

These comparisons are ridiculous... if you're a 360 owner & all your friends are on XBL, you'll get it for the 360. However, if you're a PS3 owner & your my friends are on PSN, you'll get it for the PS3. If you own both consoles, you'll get it for the console you have the best/most friends on or buy it for both.... it's as simple as that!
I only have a PS3 so guess which console I'm getting it for?
