No matter what you have to say, linux IS a gaming platform as well as any console or windows pc. Just because you have no idea about it, doesn't mean it doesn't exists! Question for you.... what do you think the PS3's OS derived from? Not windoze thing again.
Just for your info there are linux distros dedicated just to gaming! Yes gaming, most of the games are more retro based games, but non the less it is still gaming. I don't know if you are aware this but all of id's games run...
FragMnTagM... first off, how old is your graphic card? If it's cutting edge brand new tech, you will definitely have issues until ATI or Nvidia release drivers for them (there are even issues with windows pc too). Second, what version of linux are you using?
For an average everyday user, their best bet would be to use a distro like Mint OS, it comes with everything but the kitchen sink, on the other hand ubuntu requires a bit more brain power and for a users to actually do a litt...
Activision doesn't own them, they just publish IW games. IW renewed their contract with Activision last year... I believe it was a 2 to 5 year deal. Sorry I can't seem to find the link now, but I'll get.
It's such a shame that there are so many people like you out there that are woefully ignorant when it comes to linux but yet still manage to post incorrect information and try to pass it off as fact.
GamerSciz is correct you can use Steam on linux and it works great! Also, you can connect to Windows servers without any issues... many games usually come with a linux server version. I have had actual faster gaming experiences on linux in some cases, than windows when gaming.

Anyone can use linux these days it's so easy to install (actually much easier than windows), there's no need to go searching for drivers and such, it's all included in the initial install!
I have a 62" LCD & so I can see enemies perfectly, even when their crawling behind trees & bushes. BTW I have the PS3 version of the game.
There is a memorable momment I have to share;
In one night map our team (the 4 of us playing co-op) had to sneak through enemy lines to get to our objective... no big deal right.
We approached a certain encampment from a high hill looking down, we fanned out alongside the hill (I gave the order). We then all pul...
This game is not for everyone, which is why the average gamer will hate it and come to the conclusion that "it's not fun". Most FPS gamers expect all games to be as easily accessible as the COD series... this game has quite the learning curve, IMO it's in a class all by itself!
But there are those of us out there that LOVE the game, even with all the bugs & server problems. Friday night I personally had the most fun I even had in my 30 years as a gamer, playing co-o...
Kudos to you sir... you're so right when you say that it's no for everyone! I'm not your typical average gamer and it's sounds like you aren't either!
there's more of us than you think there are, that were dying for a more realistic military sim shooter!! I have it for the PS3 and I love the game... it's hard as hell but well worth the money IMO!
Well done Codemasters, finally a developers with the balls to do a realistic shooter!!! Yaaahh!
It's funny how COD gets a pass on low end textures but other games get hammered for the same thing HAHA!
As for me I have it for the PS3 & I LOVE the game! Finally a console game for the mature military sim gamer! About time there's a game where players don't magically absorb bullets but have a mortal aspect where you actually fear for your ONE & ONLY life!
I love the fact that even when you get hit (not fatally) there are still consequences. If get hit in th...
I for one love the game, sure it has a few bugs but over all I love the tension it creates knowing that one bullet can take you down. It forces you to move very tactically and to use your squad mates to cover your a$$. This game reminds me of the original Rainbow 6 & Ghost Recon on PC, at that time where the majority of gamers were more open minded and accepted that fact that players don't magically absorb bullets.
This game is only for the hardcore military sim gamers (mostl...
I'm curious... when you say "the #1 selling console of this generation" do you mean the wii or xb360?
It just sounds like you're talking about the 360 in your statement.
Personally I have no problem with ubisoft making games for any system... it's just that (to me) they haven't made anything worth MY money! And, yes I too have GRAW2/Assassins Creed/Far Cry 2, also HAD (traded them in) R6V/R6V2. Like the posters above said, manyof ubi's games are way too rep...
You're kidding right?
there's no way I'm missing out on gameplay that I've been dying for (on consoles). Since I made the switch from pc gaming, there's no game (until now) I would have considered a "shooter sim". Finally we have one! Yaaah!
Reminds me of the early Ghost Recon games & of course the original OpFlsh on pc... which is not a bad thing, those games were a lot of fun to play!
So, this looks repetitive and COD games aren't? LOL!!!
it could take players away from most of those games. However the majority of MW2 crowd are (as I stated in my previous post) so use to playing for themselves, that I don't believe they can get over the hump of playing for the goal of the team! But who knows, maybe MAG can change them?
As for R2/Socom/Warhawk players... I believe more of those players would be more incline to make the change because those games are bit more teamwork orientated.
In the end, only time w...
my statement is not meant be offensive, it's just the facts I see in the XBL's top 10 most played games (overall annually). You can't argue the fact that shooters (FPS/TPS) have been dominating the XBL top 5 to 6 spots on that chart since it's inception. The only other games I see continuously in that top ten is a couple particular sports (Madden "foozball" - quote from "The Waterboy" and of course the FIFA series) and the last few spots are random games that come & go...
the first 5 to 10 times I played the MAG beta I too thought it sucked. No one was talking and everyone was playing it like it was COD... that's everyone's first mistake! BUT after a while once you played it for a week or so and finally figured out that it's very strategic as well as very dependant on teamwork & communication, also yes you do need individual skills as well.
The problem in most shooters is that the primary focus is mostly on the individual because of the need t...
It's not that people can't afford $2 per month, it's the simple fact that most gamers that work have a certain budget for gaming (just read any comment or forum posts on most games to see that). That $30 to $60 per year could be the difference of getting that last game you want... unless you live in your parents basement and spend all you money on video games have no other expenses in life. So for some that $2 per month can be a big deal.
Keep in mind a large majority (not all) o...
just not in this section. It should be put in the industry section.
