although I do lean more towards one side.
BD is by no means better or superior than HD DVD. The only ones preaching this is Sony and BDA (and we've already gotten how many lies form their side?) as well as the Sony fanboys who will believe anything Sony and the BDA says and/or make up their own crud.
Want to know more? Go to a high def forum and read read read. You'll see they both have the same PQ and AQ. It's been agreed upon by many of the brand loyalists who ...
we won't be using this for another few years.
that is if BD succeeds
How is NOT having PS2 BC a good thing? spin all you want homey, it's anti-consumer. Especially after bashing the competition for not having it in the first place
PS3 fans even attack each other.
Shame. Maybe he wants to convince his buddies to buy a PS3 and since they all said it's too expensive, now a price drop comes. That's just one of many scenarios on why a current PS3 owner doesn't like the 40gb specs
I'm still surprised he hasn't been banned yet as everything he posts goes against a ton of forum rules we all agree to abide by. But note the kid only preaches specs. He doesn't know sh*t about anything he's talking about other than what he reads at sony or bluray forums.
As for no PS2 BC being a 'good thing' I call MAJOR BS.
Some of us want to unclutter our media areas like me. I have an HD-A2 HD DVD player, 360, Wii, Cable DVR and AV reciever with space for 1 ...
Because Sony spoke, and the trolls followed.
HD DVD is pro-consumer, BD is not but regardless of that fact the fanboys from the Sony camp will debate it till their faces turn blue.
blockbuster stopped carrying HD DVD aside from 250 of it's 6000+ stores and mail in rentals?
then BD would be leading by 10:1 and not 1.5:1 as it stands now.
The mass PS3 owners aren't buying BD movies. Look at the attachment rates and sales figures. PS3s keeps shrinking where HD DVDs keeps growing.
No lie, look at the numbers. I bet you majority of PS3 owners here haven't even bought 5 BD movies with their own wallet and further proves this notion. Now watch how all the Sony fans go and disagree with me. Truth hurts don't it?
Studios just aren't seeing the need as most don't have the equipment or the ear to hear the difference.
DD+ is 'lossy' aka compressed audio but it is HD audio. It also leaps and bounds better than regular DD.
Note, BD only has 50+% of their titles in lossless format whereas HD DV has about 22+% of all titles. It costs more to encode everything and since HDM is expensive to write as it is now the norm might be no lossless since the advantage difference can't be he...
PS3s sell but unfortunately the owners aren't buying the BD movies.
Sales figures tells you this with what, projected 100k units sold per week and the attachment rate gets smaller and smaller. Last 5 weeks alone has shown roughly a 60/40 split in favor of BD and last week's sales numbers were 54/46 in favor of BD. With that many PS3s sold, you'ld expect an asswhooping but in fact, PS3 owners only care for the gaming side and the sales figures alone say this the loudest.
...
WRONG.
No BC.
That alone is a big loss for me. What happened to making fun of the competition (MS) for their system to not be 100% BC and now can't do any BC at all. Yes I still bargain bin shop for those must have classic PS2 titles
To below: Stop being a troll. God of War 2 is a PS2 game isn't it? So is ICO, Okami, Shadow of Colloseus, etc right? Plus all the other must own titles I have now can be revisted anytime. Classic PS2 titles that a tru...
These rumors I guess are true. Free games is always good especially when they are 2 quality titles like MarvelU and Forza 2. Hits 2 different market of gamers and neither is an FPS that all the trolls think XBOX is all about.
The 40gb PS3 isn't worth it in my book. No BC means no 40gb for me. Why no BC is beyond retarded ESPECIALLY after Sony went on bashing MS for not being 100% BC. It's obvious anything Sony says is A-OK to the fanboy, but to the other neutral masses like mys...
Blu-ray Disk is UMD 2.0? ;)
PS3 was is and most likely always will be the best BD player on the market. Take away the system and look at the BD stand alones like I mentioned; some Samsung and LG players don't play Fox's new BD movies. Why? Incompatibility issues with BD+ in an unfinished spec.
Being that PS3 isn't selling BD movies like it's supposed to (the sales figures say this the best) those truely interested in BD or HDM usually are the ones who fork $ for ...
but to be on topic PS3 isn't a failure. It just hasn't done what Sony wanted it to do yet and is why many look at it as a failure.
Sony relied on the Playstation brand to carry CELL and BD and although we can argue that this round of CELL is like last round of the emotion chip, the BD side of things has NOT worked out good for them. The BDA solely rode on the PS3's success to deliver a quick blow to it's main competitor HD DVD and thusfar has proven to be more of a nuisance tha...
You know, cuz MS is the only one with QA issues.
Just to note, last week Fox publicly blamed Samsung and LG for some of their new releases (i.e. 1st releases since april) having issues playing on some Samsung and LG standalone BD players.
where the DVD part would be region coded.
Not HD DVD.
Cats still in the bag.
Why?
Simple.
Sony paid money to get promotional support, like endcaps, at various stores. Hence why you'll see BD favored in these stores.
At least I'll vouch that this is smart marketing. Everything else they do, straight FUD
Let's look at ONLY news JUST for today shall we, mainly concentrated around BD?
1. Neilson's numbers, so coveted by the blu boys, revealed today that last weeks sales, the same as HALO 3 launch which was destined to drastically slow HD DVD sales, were BD 54:46 HD DVD. How is that bad news for HD DVD?
2. Fox studios today publicly thrashed Samsung and LG for having players that don't play some of Fox's own BD movies (i.e. FF2:SS). Has is this bad news for HD DVD?
...
I've heard both HD DVD and BD wait up to 8-10 weeks so expect yours to come soon.
either on purpose or you are all blind.
"only 9% stand alone lead" and then you factor in that BD stand alones make up less than 10% of all BD players on the market (90+% are PS3s) yet the software sales figures show 1.5:1 lead for BD. Do you see how majority PS3 owners are not buying BD for movies?!
It's clear and simple. I ask this, if you are proBD, you better be buying BD movies otherwise you just described yourself as a fanboyistic troll..
