REALLY?!
Cuz last I checked, I own a bunch that are exclusive and/or neutral to both formats like Transformers, Bourne series (3 due out soon), MI series, Planet Earth, Matrix trilogy, Blood Diamond, just to name a few...
And schmee, aka nasim, you must nut everytime you log into the fanboy site of the year (blu-ray.com). I ask, WHY did Transformers not bring HD DVD the weekly sales? Simple... The BDA secretly (and I applaud them for it) did a BOGO sale to the major reta...
Monday some CE makers will come out and publicly announce a price drop on current BD1.0 stand alone players. PS3 won't be dropped any further but since the new Panasonic model that is 1.1 compliant is due out to be $500 new, why would current 'obsolete' models still go for current list prices?
I see some $199 players. Competition is GREAT for the consumer. I applaud Toshiba for bringing the entry level HD-A3 to the $199 price point (with the HD-A2 being cleared out at $99). If ...
Roughly 70% of HDTVs in the market are 720p/1080i.
HD programming is done in 720p/1080i.
Most can't tell the difference between 720p/1080i/1080p.
This is an ENTRY LEVEL player, made to be affordable to the masses, not out-price themselves out the market, like the PS3 did in the gaming community.
Want all the bells and whistles? You got to pay more for it for the other players Toshiba offers (and soon to be Onkyo, Integra, etc).
and Madden Raiders, if...
After Friday's inventory clearance it'll go back to normal pricing but expect more of these $100 door buster deals. Toshiba is trying to get into people's homes and doing a damn good job at it! This is also what Warner wants to see, more HDM stand alones entering peoples' homes. Once the gen3 HD-A3 is in stock, it'll sell for $200 with the occasional dip in price for a sale, followed by the cheaper Venturer models ($150?) and Chinese off brand label ($99-125?) players. I least expected any br...
to make room for new gen3 models. This is also HD DVD forum making moves. They know to win Warner Bros over they must get more players (and an increase in disk sales) for this holiday season. This is how they start. This is also Walmart's 'secret sales' they usually do before Black Friday.
To add, shmee, or should I say nasim... You mentioned Spidey 3 right? Check it out...
Spidey BD box set being outsold by a comedians SD DVD
To be on topic, this is good news! Toshiba is trying to enter people's homes with HDM unlike what the B...
Don't take anything BDA says to the heart, ESPECIALLY at a Blu-ray festival...
For the record, Warner today has delayed Twister for both formats back to May '08. If that doesn't speak 'we're staying neutral', I don't know what does.
A good 1080p HDTV will take any 1080i signal and deinterlace it to 1080p. So everyone above, and below, who is preaching "no 1080p = fail" and whatnot just got served a platter of 'STFU, talk about something you know about, go troll elsewhere' salad
;)
A $200 entry level gen3 HD player, black friday sale for $170.. 2 movies packed in with every A3 player.. and the same 5 free mail in we've seen before.. and you want all the bells and whistles too? Toshiba's trying to put HDM into people's homes. Not everyone wants a PS3 as their BD player of choice.
720p/1080i is HD. Most have HDTVs that are of this resolutlion. HD programing is also of this resolution. Most won't be able to tell much of a difference between 720p/1080i/1080p....
there it is
Mine is. I have the HD-A2. People knew the HD-A2 is 720p/1080i. This has been known for a loooooooooooong time.
720p/1080i is HD video. What do you think HD channels broadcast at? That's right, 720p/1080i. Just like high quality lossy/compressed audio is an HD audio format, 720p/1080i video is HD video. I think BD needs to release a cheap player at this resolution to compete with the cheaper HD-A2.
Nothing new here people. Try not to spin things your way. The dif...
Profile 1.1 isn't just software. There are hardware features that must be there like a secondary decoder and 256 mb flash ram to name a few. If this player is being certified before the deadline dead it means it lacks something for 1.1 and CAN NOT be upgraded. Dropping the ball as usual
BD's a mess. PS3 still remains the cream of the crop for BD playback and another reason why I will only use a PS3 for BD and nothing else.
EDIT: to 2.2
yes for 1.1 profile ...
This game is GREAT. I downloaded the pack, it's pretty good. I just wished they had brought Le Mans, Road America, and local tracks to me like Poconos Raceway, Lime Rock, and Watkins Glen.
All in due time :)
why do I say this? Because after you whole heartedly defended the PS3, you admitted it publicly on here that you JUST got a PS3 some 6-9 months after launch.
But to add to your posts, I call massive and major taco bullshit about you claiming you work in the field. Let's not kid ourselves guys. At least I can attest, DJ you went from being borderline nasim to being much better but your fanboyism still shows through.
I think BD is great, it's just not as great as ...
this is for Circuit City
This is great news for HD DVD. I didn't think the HD-A2 would be the sub $200 that we were all waiting for. Maybe the Venturer or Chinese models will hit the sub $150 or, dare I say, $100 player?!
This is great for both those who want to enter HDM or want to embrace both and already have a BD player.
As for people like nasim reporting news as false, this shows EXACTLY how ass backwards this site is. He, along with others (and f...
those two easily account for the apparent 40% difference (ESPECIALLY Amazon as it is a big HD DVD hit).
Let's stop spinning sh*t guys. BD people took advantage with the BOGO sale and came out on top by 1% giving away disks. Those who took advantage of the freebies, I applaud you. I took advantage of the CC glitch by picking up 8 HD DVDs for the price of 4. If I had a PS3 (which I'm bound to get both for gaming and BD, waiting on the rumbled controllers to come as a standard ;) ...
Can't quite figure out if you are under 18 and had his mommy buy you a PS3 or just a dorky nerd supporting a brand as if it were your own.
I'm neutral.
As in NEUTRAL!
As in NOT A FANBOY of a format, just a FANBOY of movies in HIGH DEF. I point out facts wether good or bad from either side. Funny how you only point out whatever I mention negative for BD but never mention anything when I say positive about BD or negative for HD DVD.
Welcome to the...
I think Warner wanted from the get go to see how this Xmas pans out. PS3 should get a boost in sales with the 40gb model and HD DVD will get a boost in sales clearancing out HD-A2s and with sales on the HD-A3. That's just hardware.
They'll also look at software and the blu group, if they want their format of choice to succeed, needs to start buying BD movies. I'm not talking about 1 or 2, I'm talking about a decent amount like the HD DVD group will be doing. Look at the whole p...
