I believe it is not an easy conudrum. Nintendo wants to strike a balance between power and battery life while maintaining modern features (such as 4k upscaling), portability factor and backward compatability.

With that in mind, I believe that the new switch will not be on the power level of Steam Deck (who has been surpassed power wise by other handhelds now), as it needs to retain decent battery life.

They will not approach the new iteration of switch ha...

"He shared a chart from Statista, showing their forecast that VR will achieve 1.7% global market penetration by 2027, compared to 51.3% penetration for video game hardware overall, and commented that until must-play experiences are available, the chart's title – asking if VR was destined to remain a niche – would be true."

One could argue that PSVR2 offers those experiences. It seems to be by far the best place to try VR and I envy all of those who have one an...

As always, you are missing the point. This is about whether a handheld can run a graphically impressive game with RT at an acceptable level.

It is by itself a feat to play on a small screen a game like Doom with RT. It is not ideal, but its not crap either.

Besides, I just finished Doom Eternal on switch which run at 30fps with crappy graphics and I had great fun as its gameplay is amazing.

Naturally most of the games supporting it, cant run well with RT enabled. However highly optimized games as such Doom Eternal can run at 30fps with RT enabled on SteamDeck which is mighty impressive.

My take on this is as follows:

I have Steamdeck since June 2022 and a switch since its release in 2017 (switched to OLED now).

Steamdeck has managed to be my handheld of preference for many third party games that I was planning to buy for Switch since they are of much better quality graphics wise and cheaper due to better and frequent steam sales (witcher 3, nier automata, dying light etc)

I also play all high profile games on Steam Dec...

No more ports please. Switch needs original games or sequels such as new Mario or Luigis Mansion or Kid Icarus etc.

The relied too heavily on ports this time around.

Besides their last Direct is a testament to that.

Ah yes, the evil soul harvesting Microsoft Corporation....

If only half the people in this site cared about gaming and not corporations and their plastic boxes.

What a sight would that be..

You see, we could create a hub for idea exchanges and we could criticise ALL companies for the mistakes and actually influence some of their decisions.

We could promote ideas that benefit gamers instead of defending anti consumer...

I can think 3 possible uses, although I could be wrong:

1. Dynamic weather and time of day depending on your region. For instance real-time weather and time-of-day information, which can be used to create dynamic environments that change depending on the weather and time of day. In addition various festivities (such as halloweed) can be tracked to add additional background features such as new times, layout and decorations.

2.Cloud-based servers can facil...

This looks amazing - I wish i could handle VR without the nausea effect. I would buy a PSV2 in a heartbeat

Two mistakes in your comment:

1. Many of those games are valued and successful IPs (starcraft, spyro, warcraft, guitar hero) so its highly probable that a greedy (like you like to say) company like MS will revive them in the future (even Phil Spencer spoke about wanting a Starcraft game)

The first game was a decent alternative to Resident Evil games (very similar elements) albeit with less complicated puzzles. It also place you in charge of different characters and the story is a bit of a mess.

The graphics were good (not top tier but nevertheless decent) and the game play is solid (the resources are a bit scarce mind you).

In addition there is a segment towards the end of the game which is highly fustrating and it took me many tries to ...

I find it funny that most ps fanboys suddenly accept DF as experts in the field of technical analysis when their games come on top then go on to accuse DF as microsoft shills whenever an Xbox game performs better.

I do understand that if you did not like the original game, there is almost zero incentive (bar new content) to revisit this.

However I do believe the criticism is not fair. The level design is not bad by any standard and this has been already mentioned in several reviews. It was far better than many platformers at the time of release and co op adds great value and entertainment.

The graphics have been overhauled, two mini games were added, new powers wer...

Fanboys always try to find some way to attack the the other console. This goes both ways.

Whenever something negative about Sony comes up, "concerned" xbox fans who have no intention of buying PS5, start posting disgruntled messages.

It just that at this point of time, Sony fanboys dominate the site (its natural though given that PS5 is a far superior in my opinion to Series X thus far)

@Orchard: I dont think that the consumers are going to be empowered by this acquisition in any way shape or form.

In the long run, if the deal goes through, MS will lock to is ecosystem Activision/Blizzard games thus blocking other console owners to play their games.

Bear in mind that these are games that were multiplatform.

And before you say that Nintendo will access Call of Duty games for 10 years, you have to take into account MS...

Have been waiting for this for too long, despite the fact that I found layers of fear 2 to be worse than the original (solid nintendo switch port though graphically speaking).
