I picked up my PS4 last holiday season during the PS4/XB1 price war. Supposed to be £349.99 but mine cost £339.99 and came with copies of GTA5, The Last of Us Remastered & DriveClub. If you value each game at £40 I ended up getting my PS4 for £220 :D
I can't help but wonder if Microsoft would make more money if they just removed the free-to-play aspect entirely and released it worldwide for $20 or so? Surely that would make them considerably more money?
£220?! Gotta admit, kinda tempted at that price.
Edit: Okay I just looked and the cheapest Xbox One on Tesco is £299. The cheapest Xbox One on SimplyGames is £329.99 so uh, why lie imt558? I was excited about maybe snagging one for cheap.
Yeah, lying is okay as long as it's for profit.
I'd care about sports games if they went back to making fun arcadey ones like SSX and the old Tony Hawk games. Mario Strikers Charged on the Wii was really fun as well.
Realistic sports games, though? Way too boring.
This guy wrote an entire article about possible headlines he was going to use for it. Now that the initial confusion has wore off, I can't help but marvel at the fact that this Jon Blyth guy actually gets paid to write things like this.
I wish somebody would throw money my way for something similar, because I could crank out articles such as this in ten to fifteen minutes. Come on Eurogamer, pay me.
I think the most impressive aspect of GTA5 on PC from a technical standpoint is the ability to play the game at 60fps. I can't even begin to image how awesome that would be to experience and would easily trump running at 4k resolution off the mere fact that high framerates make a tremendously huge difference to actual gameplay, whereas resolution does not.
If you have a computer capable of running GTA5 at a decent framerate, I'd be more than happy with that. I'm s...
Well considering the game has such a gigantic open world with genuinely good AI and deep gameplay mechanics running at 1080p/60fps, I'd say it's one of the most next-gen games out there.
It's definitely more impressive than some sub-1080p, 30fps, five-hour, linear corridor walking simulator with abysmal gameplay and AI that just so happens to have nice textures.
Unreal Tournament's shock rifle was crazy. Loved firing shock balls and then detonating them to gib people. Very creative weapon that rewarded player skill.
The redeemer was also hilarious fun given that you could manually pilot it around levels and chase people down. I think some mods/mutators even let you ride that thing?!
The gravity hammer in Halo had me laughing to tears the first time I played Halo 3 multiplayer and whacked an enemy player riding th...
Considering what passes for 'megaton' and 'AAA' these days, I'll give 'em the label of killer feature for a video editor.
I agree that changing the core hardware components of consoles mid-cycle and pushing people into upgrades is anti-consumer, but at the same time, is it really any different from many other things consumers have to deal with in the industry?
We have to buy games a second time if we want to enjoy them at 1080p/60fps when remastered. We get day one DLC and season passes if we want to keep our games up to date. We have to pay yearly subscriptions to play games online.

I don't need to fool anyone? Everything I said is fact. You mention how I'm apparently constantly "stealth trolling" and how you've been digging through my comment history, which if anything paints you as the one who's pathetic, not me.
I don't troll. I have my opinions and that's that. If you get so upset by that you're left feeling that you need to follow me from article to article and stalk me, then I'...
"I can get a ps4 today and guarantee itll run all high end games for the next 5 years and theyll look and better than they do today."
I wish GTA5 and Bloodborne ran well, but those are two games that the PS4 already struggles to run at a measly 30fps. Sucks that driving fast in GTA gets the framerate down to the low 20s and Bloodborne stutters around, dropping into the teens at points when calling in a co-op partner or getting invaded.
I really envy...
Why would you trust what Konami has to say on the matter?
I dunno, it kinda looks like they're going really futuristic (moreso than Advanced Warfare) and having cyborg soldiers, which could be really cool.
I'd really love to see a Gears of War Collection come to PC as well. They put the first Gears of War on PC but it was ruined with Games for Windows Live. If they put out a collection on Steam it would probably be really successful, and I can't see a remastered collection of a few games from the last console generation hurting Xbox One sales if it came to PC. It would be a win/win for Microsoft.
Yeah. The more ridiculous and arcadey it is, the better. I loved stringing together the most absurdly long combos around levels. I really hope that a new SSX game gets made as well, which it should given that the last one in 2012 was apparently very successful for EA.
I'd love to see a resurgence in fun non-realistic games like this. Bring back Tony Hawk, SSX, Burnout etc.
I think in the case of people like Molyneux and CliffyB etc. they deliberately avoided signing with major new publishers after leaving their teams. CliffyB for example wanted to go make an old school twitch-based FPS, and he must feel really foolish for leaving Epic to do that now that they've started work on a new Unreal Tournament.
Some well-known developers do hop from one big publisher to another, though. I think the most obvious example is the Call of Duty guys, Jaso...
I hope that a lot of Kojima's staff follow him to wherever he goes next. He's a talented guy, but the MGS games would be nothing without the talented team that helps him to create them, and I'd like to see them working with him on future projects rather than being stuck at Konami releasing yearly MGS games.
This isn't unheard of either. I recall reading about Itagaki leaving Team Ninja and most of the staff there leaving with him to form a new studio. Hopefull...
Would be nice to see it return. I had a lot of fun with Guitar Hero 1 & 2 back in the day, before they started flooding the market. I tried to get into Rock Band but it just wasn't the same.
