Didn't they do the same thing with Arkham City? I think the preorder bonus for that was Catwoman.
I don't think that this is any indication that Arkham Knight will have microtransactions to be honest, but that also doesn't excuse the fact that preorder bonuses are anti-consumer. The sooner stuff like this goes away the better. It probably never will though, since gamers really can't help themselves.
Well considering the most graphically impressive games as of late have all been the least fun to play, I couldn't care less if Mad Max "looks like butt". If Avalanche Studios put out an enjoyable game I'll be happy, they can leave the fancy graphics to lesser developers.
Yeah, honestly I'd rather hear about jaw-dropping gameplay than jaw-dropping visuals. Graphics alone just don't cut it.
Oh, so pre-order incentives are suddenly a good thing now?
"In fact why am I having more fun with this game then most AAA games I bought this year???"
Probably because the AAA games that everyone love to harp on about have had all development efforts put into graphics while the actual gameplay is an afterthought.
Just look at all the games and how they're praised for "stunning" and "gorgeous" graphics. You never see them praised for stunning gameplay do you? Always how many polygons ...
Sad to see Bayonetta 2 selling so poorly. Didn't the original Bayonetta sell well over a million? It's a shame Nintendo were the only company willing to fund a sequel because it probably would have sold really well if it was multiplatform. People clearly want to play the game, they just don't want to own a Nintendo console.
I don't agree with complaints about chromatic aberration. It looks excellent in Bloodborne, GTA5 and Alien Isolation in my opinion, and really does a lot to improve the image. I think the games would look noticeably worse if it was removed.
I'm just amazed that people will happily buy a game that they haven't even seen any gameplay footage of yet. I'll never understand why people preorder games, it's the stupidest thing throwing money at companies just because you like the look of their carefully crafted advertisements.
"This is what a leveled up Geralt looks like"
*goes and fights a bunch of level 1 enemies*
But how would they sell their DLC shark cards?!
I think that's more a case of favoritism from Shuhei Yoshida. He'll let their Japanese studios do whatever they want, which is why Team ICO is still on the payroll despite not releasing anything since the PS2 days, and why Polyphony Digital can take five years to release a game crammed full of recycled PS2 content.
Meanwhile, the moment a game from their European/American studios underperforms? Everyone gets fired.
I don't think there's any co...
Well given that the article mentions Uncharted 4 and Quantum Break, my personal opinions regarding these games being delayed are:
Uncharted 4. I honestly believe Sony wants to release an Uncharted trilogy collection on PS4 this holiday season since they love putting out remasters. They'd have a hard time selling something like that after Uncharted 4 has released so they're gonna try and do it beforehand. They probably pushed Uncharted 4 back because of this and told N...
It feels like the N4G comments section for a few articles have been overrun with EA shills. It's also bizarre seeing so many "articles" from gaming sites that read like PR blurbs and advertisements, all telling us how amazing this game looks while we all wonder when we'll actually see this mythical gameplay footage for ourselves.
Of course, preorders have gone live... How convenient.
I imagine there's a good reason they didn't want anyone to see gameplay footage, and instead pushed out "game engine footage" instead. The fact we're now getting a bunch of PR/marketing nonsense regurgitated by sites like IGN doesn't help, either.
I think he should go for the hat trick and oversee the disastrous launch of a console from Nintendo, given that he's already done so for Microsoft and Sony.
If it has so much detail and looks so great, why are they afraid to show us gameplay footage?
EA gives consumers "unprecedented DLC"
How do you know it looks incredible?
"Game engine footage"
Yeeeah... gonna be wary of that. I'll wait until we see some real gameplay. I don't trust EA.
Yeah it's weird to see him hype up specific battles like Endor & Hoth but how can you have a Star Wars game with X-Wings and Tie Fighters, and not have a Death Star level? Probably saving it for the huge amounts of DLC they have planned.
Yeah, what drew me to the PS3 was the exclusives and so far the PS4 has been disappointing except for Bloodborne. Last holiday season had nothing of worth and now that Uncharted 4 has been pushed back it looks like another year with a dry holiday lineup. Sure you can name games like Until Dawn and Tomorrow Children I guess, but they don't exactly look promising. The wait for Uncharted 4 is gonna be painful, and I hope Sony start funding more good exclusives in the future rather than wasti...
