I agree with mikeslemonade, the leaked screenshots of Dark Souls 3 look like a very noticeable downgrade from Bloodborne. Given that Dark Souls 3 will be releasing a year after Bloodborne and feature the same director, I'm getting the impression that this game is most definitely rushed. I'd love to be wrong of course but I think anyone who isn't wary is being a little foolish.
GT5 had really impressive damage modeling before the game launched. Cars could get completely and utterly mangled but for some reason they scaled the damage back significantly just before launch. It's frustrating because I saw the gameplay videos and screenshots of cars taking some serious damage in the demos in places like BestBuy and Walmart etc. that people shared, and I was really disappointed when I bought the game and all that impressive damage had been replaced with pathetic little...
Yeah, the worst part of the Move/Kinect fiasco last gen was how much it took away from the first party exclusives on each console. If Sony takes the stage at E3 to blabber on about Morpheus for most of the show with little to show for those of us who just want to play games with a controller, it's going to be really disappointing. God I hope we don't get a repeat of the Move era :(
@moldybread
Yeah, if there are still standard cars and tracks then the game will just be a mess. It was already jarring enough on PS3 to have such a huge difference in quality between PS2 & PS3 content. If they launch GT7 on PS4 and it's a mish-mash of PS2/PS3/PS4 content then I won't be touching it.
I think many people feel the same way that we do as well. GT6 sold very poorly, which was no doubt the result of how much damage GT5 did to the brand...
I would love to see a PS4 exclusive from Platinum Games. I really hope it's true and not just wishful thinking, they're the exact type of developer that Sony should be funding. I hope they announce a great technical action game along the lines of Bayonetta, Vanquish or Metal Gear Rising.
Neither were many of their customers. Hopefully Sony will be a lot smarter with their investments in the future and fund developers who actually want to make games instead. I can't believe Sony funded the development of that garbage for five whole years. What a disaster.
On the plus side, at least someone had the sense to commission From Software to make Bloodborne. Hopefully Sony gets From Software to make another PS4 exclusive in the future.
Excellent list Farsendor1. With great games such as Tottemo E Mahjong Plus and Dream C Club, PS4 owners are in for a real treat this year.
@kudostoyou
I'll do it if you give me the funding for a AAA game along with a development studio of appropriate size to make said game.
I agree with Foxtrot. If you're going to remaster something then remaster it. Don't remaster half the content and expect people to be happy.
Is the Gears of War remaster removing huge chunks of content? Is the Alan Wake remaster doing the same? If not, that's probably why nobody has any complaints.
The Uncharted Collection is the first time I've seen a remaster not only remove content, but actually remove a huge chunk of it. It's inexcusab...
I like how you imply that anyone who disagrees is a delusional fanboy, when there's plenty of PS4 owners who are thoroughly underwhelmed with the exclusive (and even then a lot of the games you listed aren't exclusive) lineup and want better.
Maybe you're happy with a bunch of ports and underwhelming shovelware, but I bought my PS4 because I want great exclusives like the PS3 had. I mean really, we're listing games like Onechanbara as examples of a great exclu...
If this game can truly accomplish 1080p 60fps with 24 cars on track and dynamic weather and time of day, then that is one hell of a technical achievement.
I wrote off the Xbox One after seeing the significant downgrade that Forza 5 received between its initial reveal and the actual launch of the game. I'd been toying with the idea of picking up an Xbox One for that game since it made such a good first impression, but seeing the finished version, lack of content and appall...
$60 for a beta? No thanks. I'd be all over this if it was a genuine remaster, rather than a partial remaster.
Honestly, I find the multiplayer components of Uncharted and The Last of Us to be far superior to the singleplayer portions. Sure the singleplayer modes have the story which is good, but from a pure gameplay perspective? All the gameplay mechanics that make these games so unique are given a chance to truly shine in multiplayer.
Be it the well-crafted traversal mechanics and vertical design that makes Uncharted stand out as being truly unique, or the tense 4v4 survival combat ...
And yet the most commercially successful franchises are the ones that run at 60fps. Call of Duty dominates shooter sales, and prioritizes 60fps gameplay over good graphics. The Gran Turismo, Forza Motorsport, Burnout etc. racing games are the best in the genre and prioritize 60fps gameplay. The same goes for the fighting genre and so on and so forth.
Judging by the strong link between high sales and high framerates, I think that console gamers care more about high framerates ...
I agree completely. I wanted to play Uncharted multiplayer again and would have happily played it for the 9 or so months until Uncharted 4 launches, but without it this collection is just worthless. I guess it's passable if you've never played the games before but either way you slice it this has got to be one of the most disappointing remasters ever made. First time I've seen a remaster actually offer considerably less content than the original game.
I honestly w...
They should have included the cooperative and competitive multiplayer as well. This is a joke of a collection to be honest, there's simply far too much content missing, even from the games that are included in the collection. It's nothing more than a greedy, rushed cash grab.
Look at Uncharted 3 for example, the multiplayer was two thirds of the game, and they've just stripped that out entirely? Utterly shameful, and a huge disappointment as well. This is what the...
They're not full games. All the co-operative and competitive multiplayer content is missing. In the case of Uncharted 3 and the way that the game was presented, I'd say a strong argument could be made for two thirds of that game being absent from the remaster.
@DayXyde
Agreed. I put a LOT of time into the Uncharted 2 and Uncharted 3 multiplayer modes, whereas I played the singleplayer for those games maybe two or three times. If there's no multiplayer I really don't see much reason to give Sony my money. Not much of a remaster if a huge chunk of content is missing, is it?
"This is how you remaster the GREATEST trilogy in gaming."
...by removing all the multiplayer content? I'm not sure removing huge chunks of co-operative and competitive multiplayer content is the correct way to remaster games. It seems more like an example of how to cobble together and rush the remastering process to be honest, if they can't even be bothered to give us all the content of the games that they're remastering.
Oh but of course,...
Done right, a third person Resistance game could be very similar to Gears of War, or at least what people thought Gears of War was aiming for before it went in a more absurd direction. They could go the survival horror route of course, but I'd much prefer some intense human vs. chimera firefights that make use of the crazy weaponry that the franchise is known for.
