People seem to be placing an awful lot of hope/cope on the shoulders of PSSR. Particularly since PS5 already has FSR2+ games. lots of them(most games for the last couple years I'd guess). If you don't like the soft blurry upscaled images from games using FSR2+ or UE5s own temporal upscaler you're going to be similarly disappointed by PSSR. There's not a massive difference between DLSS and FSR2+ as it stands. Most people are guessing it'll stand somewhere between those two...

I don't understand why people keep pointing to this poorly received limited edition 2TB sparkly Xbox as a comparison. "yeah but the Xbox series X, a console that's selling terribly, has an SKU that costs too much. So if they can fail to sell their console why can't we?! DOUBLE STANDARDS!". You gotta get out of your console war mindset guys and just look at it objectively instead of just trying to point score against Xbox. Pat yourself on the shoulder you won, time to put...

While I'd largely agree that you pay an extra couple hundred to put a better PC together, Thanks to the extra $200US premium you pay to buy it in Australia you can put together an RTX 4070 system for less that's absolutely going to be better for gaming performance than a PS5. RT will be better. An SSD matters for loads, not having the absolute fastest doesn't matter nearly as much as you think. It's great the PS5 has all but removed the HDD bottleneck for loading, this ends sh...

You can absolutely compare a 6 core desktop CPU to the PS5 CPU, especially one that outperforms a PS5 in both single AND multithreaded performance in spite of the core differential.

I don't think this guy is going to admit he's a bot.

Read my comments. It's pretty straightforward.

Why do you think it costs $260 dollars more to produce a PS5 Pro than a PS5? Legitimately curious how you go about performing this mental gymnastics

Could be into something there

When they say niche product they mean price

526d ago 0 agree0 disagreeView comment

If you say so. It looks like a normal PS5 with a mid/late gen refresh that puts it roughly in the zone of performance/expectation that the PS5 was 4 years ago. So you might think it could probably be sold for roughly the same price. Kind of like how they did for the PS4 Pro ...which was a bigger leap than this is. It uses a process node shrink that happened in the years since release to add a few more transistors into the same sized silicone.

People are ignoring that overpriced xbox because it's a terrible deal and no-one cares about it. The $600 sparkly Xbox won't sell well either. People do care about the PS4 Pro but think it costs too much. Pretty simple. No-one's saying it's okay for MS to charge that much, just no-one cares about Xbox anymore.

I was waiting and planning on getting one, (did the same thing last gen with the PS4 Pro and PSVR). I need the disk drive to play my PS4 games (my PS4 itself has shat itself), which comes up to a total official price of 1360 Australian dollars, which is just over $900 US. For context the PS4 Pro cost me $550 Australian dollars.

As a musician and someone who definitely suspicious of "exposure", I would still definitely take up any money to get music into GTA. I suspect he probs doesn't realise just how much of a game changer that would be, and understandably so. Hell, half my music knowledge and tastes at the time came from Vice City, particularly from V-Rock. Now I own physical copies of most of the albums those songs came from. He's right to be suspicious of "exposure" but in this case I...

I appreciate the enormous hardware improvements that are SSDs and actually semi-decent CPUs compared to last gen in the PS5/Series S/X. These things have enabled technical improvements over last gen (more complex simulations, higher frame rates, faster loads etc). In a lot of ways this gen was a much bigger jump than last (PS4 CPU performance actually went backwards compared to PS3).

...it's just a lot of this stuff is under the hood, behind limited GPUs. But I reckon t...

NFS: HP2 was great. Although I had an Xbox and remember feeling distinctly disappointed once I realised the PS2 store demo of it was a totally different game to the game I had purchased for Xbox.

Absolutely not a fact. *Some* devs complain because they have to do some optimisation. It's a fact it's less powerful, but there's no evidence Series S has negatively impacted any game you want to play on more powerful hardware. it's a great well rounded and perfectly capable device. I would even argue that it's benefited this gen by forcing Devs to account for hardware that mirrors a fairly average PC (8GB of VRAM, actually exceeds the average PC in terms of SSD, CPU thre...

Amen. I respect Peter as a dreamer of interesting and grand ideas. Those who remember the golden years of Bullfrog knows how interesting their games were (and still remain) and the glorious feel of manipulating all the little simulation mechanics. If you understand many of his promises were "wouldn't it be cool if" hypotheticals that were strived for but ultimately not achieved (ie the realities of game dev) it makes far more sense than him being deliberately misleading.

I don't know much about the hate for this game but it'll be a cold day in hell before I trust anything about a Ubisoft open world games based on pre-release media. Fooled me too many times before, never deliver.

No-one who has any attachment to Marathon wants an extraction shooter. So dumb. Would have been the easiest money they could make to make a modern Marathon game not jump on the oversaturated extraction shooter bandwagon

I don't get Marathon at all. They had a winner in the bag to bring back that IP good and proper and what do they do? a fuckin' extraction shooter that seems completely unrelated in both tone and concept.
