The problem is, great games don't always sell well. Look at Team Ico games. Look at Beyond Good and Evil. Would you tell the creators of those games that they should make games that people want to buy?

I'd say his opinion matters because it's one of somebody who has been directly involved in developing and publishing games. He has had a view of the industry that no gamer will ever see. Or probably want to see.

I agree with you and CliffyB. We the console gamers, as a group, whine incessantly over paid DLC and microtransactions - perhaps rightfully so. The reason that PC gamers do not deal with those as much is because of DRM. They also get lower prices and frequent sales.

The engineer's point was that they designed the console to be different from previous generations. Sure, there were restrictions, but there were benefits too. The problem is that the faces of the company did little to nothing to explain those benefits and tell people why they would want to deal with the restrictions.

The problem is, people buy the used games that people trade in. Sure, some revenue goes towards new games, but the games sold back and forth have revenue generated for everybody but the developers and publishers.
For example, one copy of Battlefield 4 is bought at retail for 59.99. After trade ins and used sales, that same copy may end up generating 200 or 300 bucks, but the developers and publishers see none of that, despite the fact that 10 or so people have played the gam...
It just needs to be connected. Probably so people don't sell it separately.

You do realize that the One being 50% weaker is not the same as the PS4 being 50% more powerful, right?
Example 1 (X is 50% weaker than Y)
X is 50% of Y. Y = 2. Therefore, X = 1.
Example 2 (Y is 50% more powerful than X)
Y is 150% of X. X = 1. Therefore, Y = 1.5.
I only bring this up because according to raw numbers (which do not mean everything), the PS4 is 50% more powerful than the One.
