This is an excellent article and assessment of the situation. I loved TLOU and I'm still getting some great time in on multiplayer. But there is the big "what if?" hanging over it with the release of the PS4 in a few months.
Sure, there are pros and cons that go with the choice of having it on either console, but the author brought up a great point - the character acting and capture was wonderful, but the rest of the tech wasn't up to that high standard set...
@Hammad
uStream kinda sucks though. That's nothing against the PS4 - it's just that Twitch is way better.
@DayZ
"Seems greedy."
Should they just give the entire game away for free? That's a helluva business model.
@Qrphe
But his name is Riley! :D
That made no sense.
Sony had two winning things at their conference - the lack of DRM and the price point. The DRM issue is a moot point now, so they're left with the price (again, solely on E3-related issues). They didn't really show enough exclusive games, to be honest. Sure, indies are nice, but they're not selling points. I wish they would have shown the inFamous SS gameplay, which was incredible.
@InTheLab
Gamestop is the "face of evil" because they will give you ten bucks in store credit for a recently released game, turn around and sell it for 40 bucks, and the developers and publishers see none of that money.
Troy Baker is in every game ever lol
Well here comes the usual idiot squad with their talk of Microsoft payoffs, selling out and "Kojima's lost his touch."
Maybe he is excited about new technology and being able to reach a larger audience with his games? You know - the logical explanation?
Kojima has proven time and time again that he does not compromise his vision. Do you think that a blank check changes his mind now when he already has enough money to last him for a lifetime?
Why not? If it can make an experience better, I'm all for it. But if it is using the tech for the sole purpose of the tech, I do agree.
Well, to be fair, The Cell wasn't the most important thing in regards to PS3 exclusives - it was the actual first party studios working on the games and the Blu-ray storage advantage. Talent is greater than tech any day of the week.
You forgot white knights :D
@Grim
Women do like those diamonds lol.
I get what you're saying and all. I just was saying that Microsoft isn't the only "bad guy" out there. Basically I see corporations as trying to get dollars out of us by any means necessary - it's just some means are or appear to be more dastardly than others. But in the end, if we need or want something, we will still pay them.
But I get the luxury thing. We aren't forced, th...
The WiiU?
I like limited edition consoles - I have the Halo Reach 360 and it is very attractive.
That said, I don't think this is them saying a new limited edition is coming. I think.it's like one of those twitter hash tag question things based around a certain day.
I buy new games unless I can't find them new. I would rather support the people that produce and publish a game rather than a third party who only profits from somebody else's work.
I appreciate what you are saying, Grim, but the fact is that if we stopped supporting companies because of either shady, anti-consumer, or other nefarious practices, or even companies that INTENDED to do those things, we would never buy a good or service from anybody.
Oil companies are controlled by perhaps the most evil conglomerate ever assembled who gouge us on prices with collusion and no legitimate public explanations. Yet we still buy gas to fuel our cars.
@MariaHelFutura
"I would say ANYTHING associated w/ Microsoft that has to w/ spying is very very relevant to Xbox One considering the circumstances."
That's like saying that because one person is a rapist or murderer, then everybody in their whole family should be considered rapists or murderers.
A more accurate comment from you would have been:
"I would say ANYTHING associated w/ Microsoft is bad because ...
It's tactical, not dumb. It's way better than some guy camping like a punk to get a few kills, then call in a helicopter, an AC-130, and then a nuclear bomb to end a game. Just saying.
What Microsoft is doing right (or at least better than they could be doing) is that they're ironing all of this stuff out prelaunch. We could argue until the cows come home about why they've been having these sudden cases of "the mind-changing", but the good in it all is that they're handling it before The One is out in the wild. They're really trying to right the ship.
