@Stoppokingme
Isn't that precisely how games are made? Throwing money at studios and expecting magic to happen?
I know this may come as a surprise, but Sony's studios need money thrown at them to develop games too. They don't just create games out of thin air for free.
See, this is what I don't understand about the fanboy mentality. The way most normal people justify their purchase of one product over another is by actively enjoying that product. But fanboys take it further and slam competition. I have never understood how hatred of one product justifies your love of another product and makes you enjoy it more.
I understand the money thing completely, but that's an excuse. If you buy a Ford, does hating a Chevy make that Ford drive ...
I don't know about a final boss, but there definitely needs to be a climax that tests all of the skills that you've learned throughout your playthrough of the game.
The Last of Us didn't have a final boss, but the hospital scene at the end was a fitting climax and final test.
@BattleTorn
Just because something is good doesn't mean that the polar opposite is inherently bad. It was a good move on Sony's part to omit the Eye and keep a 100 dollar price difference. However, it was also a good move for Microsoft to bundle Kinect because then everyone who has a One will have it as well.
@ThanatosDMC
Sony has the same provision. Every console does. It's nothing new.
The 100 dollar price difference is due to the addition of Kinect 2 rather than simply the omission of Eye. Say what you want about Kinect, but it's expensive tech.
No, it's not. Theory is a way of stating possible or even expected results based on known information. Time travel is as impossible-looking to us as storing the music contained on 1000's of foot-wide wax discs in a device that fits in the palm of your hand sounds to somebody from the 1960's. It's all relative.
@dedicatedtogamers
"But now, hardware doesn't matter, right? I wonder what sort of galaxy-sized moving of the goalposts is going to occur when Xbox fans (the same people who bragged about superior graphics) realize their next console is now inferior."
Goalpost moving is in no way a Microsoft fan exclusive. If I remember correctly:
Rumble didn't matter... until the Dualshock 3 was released.
Multiplatforms did...
Years ago, people said: "theoretically, you could store your entire music collection in your pocket".
Did that not come true?
Two tips that won't help you in the grand scheme of things, but are still worth mentioning.
1. It seems that you have to be crouched to heal your teammates and pick up items from toolboxes.
2. You still show up on your enemy's listen mode whether you are jogging (moving without L2 or while crouched) or crouch-walking (unless you have Covert Training 2 or 3 active). So in some situations, it may behoove you to not crouch-walk in order to get places mor...
I hate those people! I have seen people fend off 3-4 enemies (in fact, I've done it myself), but it's a rarity, even against inexperienced opponents.
You really should at least give it a look. It's not for everyone, but you might fall in love.
Sega Saturn tried something similar already and it didn't end well. Sony (and Microsoft, for that matter) needs a pre-Black Friday on-sale date so people don't go buying another big purchase that would decrease their cash or credit flow.
Hahahahaha so epic!
@MysticStrummer
Sony can HAVE cloud computing, but it doesn't mean that it's going to be as good as Microsoft's cloud. Microsoft has years of experience maintaining their own cloud, they have way more actual servers available, they will be owned and operated by MS as opposed to being leased from a third party, and the servers and code will be specifically tailored for gaming applications.
Basically it's like sex. You can hook up with somebody ...
@AutoCad
The silence is deafening :)
Haha Puppy_Farts - no-jerkoffery taken :)
Doesn't matter, to be honest. I play games, not ethics.
Also, my point was that Sony wasn't always a gaming company, so why should the finger be pointed at Microsoft exclusively?
Well, it's like they say:
You have a right to be a d-bag if you want...
...but you're still a d-bag.
The thing about The Last of Us is that it isn't genre-defining...it's genre-defying. Calling it simply a survival horror, stealth, shooter, drama, or any other descriptor of genre is not encompassing enough to describe it.
What makes the game so good is that it excels at dipping its toes into all of the different pools that it dips its toes into. Mashups and crossovers are nothing new, but few reach the lofty heights that TLOU does. Hell - few even work on the most b...
