Seriously - buy a PS4. You obviously have no interest in an Xbox One. Why bother yelling about it in a PS4 thread?
The biggest problem with mods (or any other user-generated content) is the potential for the new data to have malicious content unless there is a specific checking/approval system. And even that isn't foolproof.
Consoles have been closed to outside viruses and stuff in the past, both because of incoming data control and the architecture of the console itself. Over the generations, consoles have gotten more and more like PC's, which means they are getting more and more...
Speak for yourself. I've been waiting for a new Killer Instinct game for 15 years and OctoDad looks fun as hell.
It's not terrible, but I like it better than XMB. The new UI feels more alive and connected. Still needs a little work but there is time!
@Aery
You'd better make sure that every post you ever make on N4G that isn't an unequivocal fact is preceded by "in my opinion."
And the Wii ended up in 1st. Shall we deal with that also?
@Excalibur
"And please enlighten us on how the developer is ripped off?"
The first sale is fine. You pay money to play a game and the developer and publisher gets their cut.
The first resale gives nothing to the publisher and developer. Neither does the second. Nor the third. Nor the fourth. Nor the twentieth. The only people benefitting are the resellers and and used buyers.
The rip off comes because all of those...
@dedicatedtogamers
"I remember when Kinect came out and it was OMG the FASTEST SELLING (shipping) piece of electronics in the HISTORY OF MANKIND!! And it sold/shipped 10 million in two months...and then four months later Kinect sales were still at 10 million...because Microsoft channel-stuffed."
And now Kinect is at 25 million. Did they "stuff" an additional 15 million then?
@Colzer01
I dunno if it will be exclusive. L4D 1&2 were exclusive during a time when Gabe publicly stated he wasn't a fan of the PS3. Obviously that changed (see Portal 2's Steamworks integration).
I honestly don't care whether it comes to One, PS4, or both, as long as it isn't PC exclusive. I'm a console gamer :)
Oh, you know what will happen - people will camp until they get the Pterodactyl Gunner killstreak and then they'll get to 25 kills and set off Tactical Volcano.
@allformats
"He had nothing substantial to say at all. Just an article to stir controversy."
He's listing reasons why he wants an Xbox One instead of a PS4. He's not saying the PS4 sucks. I don't see how he us trying to do anything other than state his opinion.
Besides - I don't see you in any of the "PS4 is better" threads crying out against stirred controversy.
Article reeks of white knight. Only problem is that there are no princesses to rescue.
Probably if they prioritize the game engine and assets relative to the beginning of the game (or the part of the game your profile is currently in for remote downloads), it should be fine. Also, cutscenes and dialog take up a lot of storage. The most relative ones to the position of the game save data should be queued first.
You say that like it's a bad thing.
OMG it's Strider!!! Not some crappy 3rd person remake, but STRIDER!!!
Why did it take so long for Double Helix to start making good games?
Ghosts 'n Goblins. FOR THE LOVE OF GOD AND ALL THAT IS HOLY, GHOSTS 'N GOBLINS!!! Even an HD remaster.
"I mean, it is more reasonable to think the commenters on here praising the game are huge MS fanboys, as the negative comments are justified based on FUSE, & the last 2 Ratchets...."
Nobody is on here PRAISING the game. People are saying that they are INTERESTED in learning and seeing more and that they like the STYLE and what the developers are saying. That's not being a fanboy - that's anticipating a new game and wanting to know more about it.
...
Microsoft never said explicitly that graphics would be made better by the cloud - that's something the fans are trying to claim. Microsoft said bigger and more realistic and alive worlds that behave smarter. There is a major difference. I hope it pays off and works, but there is no reason to have too lofty or negative expectations from it.
@HammadTheBeast
"MS also invested $500 000 000 just for Kinect advertising, it only sold about 5-7 million more than the PS Move lol."
Kinect has cost between $100 and $150 over its lifecycle, which means that's anywhere between $500 million and $1.05 billion in additional sales.
I can has fun with numbers too!
@slimeybrainboy
Microsoft has NEVER stated that the cloud will make graphics better. Plenty of fans on both sides who are not Microsoft or developers have claimed that Microsoft says that though.
