"53 Mhz, which is next to nothing. Takes it up to a 1.3 TF machine (from 1.24) compared to 1.8 on the PS4."

His first two sentences. Come on!

*SPOILER*

I think that Joel was humanity's last hope at saving itself - and he succeeded.

To allow a little girl to die, even at the expense of finding a cure or vaccine or whatever would be to cast away the last threads humanity had left. Look at the society they lived in. Murder was accepted as a means of survival. Stealing and shady business dealings were the norm. Segregation and rampant isolationism had taken over. Basically, everything the human ra...

Speaking of curiosity, D4 is at the top of my list for games I want to know more about. I loved Deadly Premonition.

As for best Xbox One game in its first year, I'm going to have to say Watch_Dogs, based on what we've seen so far and despite the fact it's a multiplat. Exclusives, I'd go with Dead Rising 3.

I use a PC-out connection and it works just fine for me.

I've got Dead Rising 3, Battlefield 4, and Watch_Dogs preordered. I'm debating Ryse VS Forza at the moment to round it out. Also waiting to see price details on the Killer Instinct fight stick.

That's what I meant. If they said that the One would be digital download only, yet still had a Blu-ray drive, people would say "why can't that be used for games?" And rightfully so. By including a drive and doing their focus testing, they probably saw that people still wanted discs, at least as a delivery method due to large download sizes, even if they'd only use discs once.

Is Don Mattrick working for Nintendo now?

No, he has 1GB of DDR3 in his video card. He probably has 4-8GB general memory.

It's more of a question if the HDMI output will be blocked by copyright protection (HDCP) on the console end. I guarantee that companies want the PS4 to be able to output to their devices because they want to sell them!

Well, you can use extremely powerful video editing software on PC and MAC. I'm not saying that the console editing software will be bad, but there is no way that it's going to touch FinalCut or others like it. I mean, for straight up gameplay, I'm sure the console software is fine, but for making Machinima and other artistic endeavors that rise above that, you need good options, which only come with good software. I use filters, frame rate modifications, sound effects, music, cust...

Microsoft has a disc drive on the One because they didn't have the balls for their true vision - a digital download only console. However, they also chose to make it an "all in one" machine, so you need a drive for Blu-ray and DVD playback The two philosophies clash because one is solely digital but the other is rooted in physical media.

The drive was their escape plan - if they announced a solely digital download console, they would in effect be all in. Then ev...

I honestly don't want a non-Kinect Xbox One. The Kinect, love it or hate it, is part of the One's identity. Making it an option will mean less integration and advancement. I don't care about saving money on it - I want the full experience that they are going for with it.

@Chaostar

"Wait, people are "ignorant rednecks" because they have privacy concerns?"

There is a very big difference between "privacy concerns" and "continuing to claim that Kinect will monitor you 24/7, report to the government every detail of your life, and never turn off," even though Microsoft has stated many times that none of those are the case.

Edit: and if you're afraid of Kinect, you should...

It reminded me of those GameStop preorder ads for games like Splinter Cell and Halo and Prototype that had custom dialogue and character movements, but had noticeably worse graphics than the actual game, like they were from a very early build or even a mockup of the actual game.

I've never agreed with "cheaper is better" argument. A lot of college students have iPhones, which are $100 (or more) expensive than some more powerful and/or capable Android models.

People (college students included) will buy things that they feel suit their wants and needs. Some will look at the price, but others will overlook the price. It all depends on the user.

The complexity of programming in PS3 was caused in part by the non-unified memory pool. A huge part of programming is managing resources. However, the nonsensical dev kits didn't help.

People who say that MS will flip the DRM switch again are foolish. Once released, any changes on that level would be illegal, due to breach of contract and bait and switch laws.

Even if for some bizarre reason they turned DRM back on, they would literally be committing market suicide. Besides users are not required to connect to the internet anymore, so any patch that would turn DRM back on would be not compulsory.

There is absolutely no benefit to MS to rein...

"I guess what I'm trying to say is that there are some people who still don't believe Microsoft's messaging? Perhaps that's another point altogether, or maybe another way to say it is that I'm hearing the messaging, but it still isn't presenting a convincing, cohesive vision of what the Xbox One represents. And when I mean "vision" I mean "this is what the system will look like in 3 years"."

Ellie was the only thing that broke immersion for me. However, making her visible when I'm in stealth could have made this the most frustrating game in ages. I'm glad they made it the way that they did, even at the cost of making it slightly less realistic.
