Coincidence.
I hope.
If it's there on purpose, someone has a SICK sense of humor.
Bubble from me, too. It seems that contributors to this site get far more negative feedback than merited. Nothing about this comment deserves negative votes.
PS3 Elite?
Is 20GB really worth $100 more? Yes, there's a game included, but for how long? After the holidays, will a game still be in the bundle? If not, will there be a price break, or will it still be $600?
MS charges $80 more for their Elite than their Pro, with a much bigger hard drive and HDMI support, but no high-def DVD player.
Something to think about.
EDIT: What are you disagreeing with? These are legitimate questions.
Funny thing is, my first 360 was plugged into a wall outlet and died in less than four months. Its replacement has been plugged into a decent grade surge protector (not Monster calibre, but not bad) and has lasted longer, with none of the issues that plagued my first unit all the way up until its death.
Sorry, but this guy is rehashing the same tired excuse that some people with MS were making. Yes, power supplies can affect a system's performance--or the performance of any pi...
That WOULD explain why my store has seen fewer PSPs of late, even though sales have markedly improved since the price cut.
Assuming it's true, of course.
I've heard that the Elites are better-designed and have had fewer issues than the Pros--is that true? Anyone with evidence for/against, please provide links.
We had a girl in our Halo clan for a while. She was the girlfriend of another guy on the team, and folks, she kicked @ss ten ways from Sunday. One guy made fun of her, so she proceeded to lay a killtacular on him and his team. He shut up soon afterwards.
Unfortunately, with all the raw testosterone flying around Live, girl gamers are still a pretty rare thing.
Maybe--MAYBE--after their 1 billion dollar repair bill on the 360, MS can still afford to respond to a PS3 price drop with one of their own.
If not, they still have a killer lineup of games coming this fall, plus the best online service (w/IPTV also in the pipe).
How well those positives can compete with a PS3 price drop and the negative fallout of their much-publicized repair bill remains to be seen.
Unofficial confirmation:
Instead of the usual 8-10 PS3 units on order at my store for replenishment (sorry, we don't sell many), we have nearly 40. That's not coincidence.
What a bewildering mix of honesty and corporate double-talk. (He used the word "data" more often than Jean-Luc Picard!)
But it's good to FINALLY see them owning up to the problem, and working to fix it. First they need to fix existing defective consoles, then they need to make the necessary changes to production to prevent this from happening as much in the future. (What if they could eventually have that 5-7% failure rate that they were claiming for so long...maybe e...
Still $599 at my Best Buy store, and all the stores in the district. Probably will happen early/middle of next week. Curiously, no customers have asked about it yet.
It took them far too long, but they're finally acknowledging it, and it's going to cost them (to the tune of a cool billion). Better late than never, I suppose.
Next step: Rebuilding public trust and goodwill. That's going to take more than just money.
So there's no need to flame or start a p!ssing contest. Just late dev kits--not an issue of superiority/inferiority of one particular console over/under another.
We've had PLENTY to flame about lately---let's take a break.
Hopefully, the addition of motion controls can make this a decent platforming experience...because this franchise is becoming as tired as Sonic.

"Stop buying the same games"
I agreed with their other points, but this one really jumped out at me: Every friggin time I hear about gamers griping about the latest retread of Tony Hawk or Need for Speed, I want to scream at them: STOP BUYING THEM! Unending sequels/licenses would stop happening if people simply quit buying them.
I think it's a damn shame that quality games like Okami and Psychonauts see minimal sales while the latest dreck from some tir...
I'm honest, sincere, and fair, and I still get negative feedback and lose a bubble on this comment. That's 2 bubbles lost in less than a week.
Nothing satisfies fanboys except slavering devotion to their console of choice, I suppose.
Apparently, it's going to hit their bottom line to the tune of a billion dollars. Ouch. But they FINALLY admitted it.
P.S. I don't think that this being announced a few days before E3 is coincidence.
Retailers almost NEVER cut system prices in North America, since the prices are essentially fixed by the manufacturer, and the systems are being sold at cost, so NO retailer is going to take a $100 hit on the system just to bring in customers. This isn't a Circuit City sale; this is a price drop from Sony. Everyone will be selling it for $499 at that point.
Expect this to be made official at E3.
Hmm. Replying to this post has cost me a bubble.
Can't win for losing, eh?
