There's only one real question:
Why?
Wait for official confirmation on the 65nm chips. This guy probably has a new heatsink or one of the new measures taken to secure the DVD drives.
Is there a way to tell w/o opening the unit?
Wow.
IF Sony "re-raises" their price with their SKU change (back to $600)...
And IF the Wii stays scarce, as is likely...
And IF the 360 gets a price cut across the board....
And IF MS is able to recoup some of the goodwill lost over defective systems, and bring consumers back...
(Lots of IFS there...)
Then MS will own Christmas 07, with plenty of momentum for 2008.
So much for the price cut. Now we're back to $600 for their basic SKU, although with a bigger HD and a free game.
But your average consumer isn't going to see 80GB or Blu-Ray or free game...they're going to see $600...and they're also going to see the Wii at $250, and maybe a lower price on the 360.
One thing to think about, however: What if the 80GB SKU gets a price drop before Christmas? There have been rumors that there were more price drops in store for the...
I have only two remaining games that need a BC update, and all my games will play on my 360: Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath (great game, BTW) and Dungeons and Dragons: Heroes.
This update puts them at about 60% BC, I think.
Question from my friend who just bought a PS3:
"Can I trade in my old Sixaxis towards a Touchsense?"
(He's pretty p!ssed about this)
Anybody know if there will be any kind of trade-in program, or is he just boned? (Should he start saving his money?)
EDIT: My God, how can you disagree with a simple question? My friend wants to know, and I ask nicely, and I get negative feedback. Jeez.
To ShiroRX:
Darn.
But as Darth said, maybe SOMETHING can be worked out. If not, I'm sure 360 fans can "work out" something of their own. ;)
I expressed disappointment in the fact that MGS4 probably won't come to my system, but I still have a lot to look forward to. So do Sony and Nintendo fans.
The titles I listed are among the AAA games coming to the 360 (and a few to the PS3), which would (in my opinion) put them on a par with another AAA title, MGS4.
In other words, I might not get one AAA game for my system...but I have plenty of others. (Again, so does the competition).
Peace! ...
Which is why I'm saying I hope it isn't true. That would be a major mistake.
We'll see.
Ooh. I like that...being able to import mods. Since this is a PS3 exclusive for the time being, that means that 360 will eventually get it...but will the mods happen on the 360? Hope so...REALLY hope so.
Better late than never. I can wait for it to come to the 360.
Fingers crossed on the modding possibilities.
Hope not...because that would kill any goodwill that Sony has built up in Europe...especially when Europeans have to watch their brothers across the pond enjoy a price cut.
Seriously, I may own a 360, but I'm not some heartless, ignorant fanboy. I think this would be a bad move by Sony. I would say the same if MS were to raise the price of the 360 anywhere to compensate for their recent 1 billion dollar repair bill.
Again, hope this isn't true.
Oh well. Guess I'll just have to console myself with Halo 3, Mass Effect, BioShock, Alan Wake, Assassins's Creed, Stranglehold, Halo Wars, Ace Combat 6, DMC4, etc.
In other words, I'm a little disappointed if this is true. But I think that 360 fans still have plenty to celebrate and look forward to.
EDIT: Just exactly what are you disagreeing with? MGS4 may not be coming to my system, but I'll have a great time with what IS coming to the 360. Tell me why you're ...
So PSP Slim instead of the total re-design that was rumored?
Will the Slim solve the issues of battery life, internal storage, etc. that sometimes plagued the system?
And, what about a second analog stick?
Sorry, but this is disappointing.
Timed.
So 360 will get it later, but that's still better than not getting it at all. I can wait.
Yet another reason why I'll stay broke over the next year or so.
So it looks like 360 fans will have to wait...but they'll eventually get to play it. Better late than never, I suppose.
It looks good...maybe as good as Gears, which is saying something. Gameplay also looks solid (so far).
Will it play as well as Halo 3? Can it compete? That remains to be seen, though it looks like it has potential.
But it definitely proves that the old trailer was CG.
One bubble just for your avatar. *droool*
In reply to both of you: Agreed. That would be sweet. Also imagine streaming content between the portable and the 360. Imagine it with Media Center compatibility and Live Anywhere.
The potential is unlimited, but will it sell?
And, I have to crack a little joke: This would be an MS gaming machine, with a screen. So...red screen of death? (Intended in good fun). :)
As of this post, I am preparing to go to Best Buy and trade in ANOTHER defective 360. That will make four--count 'em, FOUR--since October 2006.
And yes, I have the receipts to prove it, should anyone doubt the veracity of my claim.
ANYTHING they can do to extend the life of these systems will be welcomed.
I still love the experience the 360 brings me...when it works. But I shouldn't have to keep exchanging them.
