Which will make them more money?:
PC gaming, in a slow decline;
Or console gaming, which is exploding in popularity?
I think they're evolving to meet current gaming needs, and focusing on where there's more money to make.
Should the PC again become the platform of choice for the majority of gamers, they'll switch back.
Madden 2009--360 exclusive!!!
(Just kidding, folks!)
Little bit of advice to MS:
Halo 3 will move systems. So will many of your other AAA games this holiday season. Christmas 07 could be the 360's shining hour. Almost all of the pieces are in place.
So then, might I suggest slaying two avians with a single igneous projectile:
Drop the price. That will do two things: Bring in even MORE gamers than just the games alone, AND, when coupled with the renewed warranty, will go a LONG way towards winning bac...
Then stop making them!
Well, at least he realizes that there is a problem.
No one tell Jack Thompson. That would be gasoline on a bonfire.
Working for a busy Best Buy that has sold a LOT of 360s, and has (unfortunately) seen more than a few of them returned/exchanged, I can say that no one has ever returned one due to scratched discs. Red ring or HD failure, yes, but never for scratched discs.
Now bear in mind that this is the experience of one person, at one store, in one city.
But since I'm the store's resident gaming expert, I'm frequently summoned to customer service to check out a returned sy...
GBA barely sells, and you can count the number of forthcoming releases on two hands. I suspect that the system will slowly fade away after Christmas, assuming Nintendo doesn't pull the plug on it before then.
It had a good run, and pioneered the expanding influence of handheld gaming. I still have my original GB, with Tetris, and it still works.
The DS is a worthy successor, well on its way to becoming the best-selling handheld of all time. But the GB paved the...
Look in the @%&$# mirror, idiots.
Wow. Best example of fanboyism I've seen in a while.
I'm assuming you're one of my disagrees?
Well, I'm one of yours.
If you can't make a coherent, intelligent post, don't expect people to give you anything resembling positive feedback.
BTW, before you accuse me of fanboyism, check my posts. I own a 360. I will soon own a Wii. I will consider a PS3 when it gets under $300. I've owned nearly every system, from nearly every company, ...
With probably a dozen major AAA games coming to the 360 just this fall, it would be hard to pick one as "the best." Three likely contenders for game of the year (Halo 3, Mass Effect, BioShock...and don't count out Assassin's Creed just yet), and many other high quality titles before year's end...wow.
Halo 3 will sell millions, and it will move systems, and it will be a fine conclusion to one of the greatest game sagas ever...and its online mode will pwn everything th...
Since I am now on my 4th 360 (w/receipts to prove it), I'm hoping that IF/WHEN my current system craps out (God forbid), the Falcon units will be available. Hopefully, they'll prove to be more reliable.
P.S. Official South Park avatar thread!
:)
Those titles look like the kind of innovative, first-rate games that gamers have been hungering for...and I think they'll move systems, which, in my opinion, is perhaps the best indicator of a game's impact on the market.
(Personally, I would also add BioShock to the list. But that's just me).
The same thing happened to a batch of 360s shipped to my store: All of them had defective HDs. We ended up using our next shipment as replacements, since we can't "recall" them. It left us with few units to sell.
My first 360 had a bad HD right out of the box.
Brilliant? (Recoup loss through HD-DVD sales, gain market share)
Or desperate? (Last gasp?)
We'll see.
P.S. How about dropping the 360 HD drive to $99? That would also impact sales.
Sweeeeeeet! Can't wait.
I'm getting damn sick and tired of negative feedback for simple, unbiased posts. Three disagrees? For what?!? Explain yourselves, fanboys. Grow some stones.
Super Mario Galaxy
Lair
Resistance
Metroid Prime 3: Corruption
Killzone 2
MGS4 (exclusive...for now)
Uncharted
Yeah, that's more than five. Oh well.
Well, it's only temporary since the price drop is on a model that won't exist in a few months. So, how long until the inventory of the 60GB model are exhausted?
Here's the question:
Will there be a price drop on the 80GB model before Christmas, following suit with this current cut? Cost-cutting measures on the system (BR diodes, lack of Emotion Engines, etc.) could indicate where they're going with this.
Or is this just a bait-and-switch? If so, th...
Left hand and right hand don't seem to know what the other is doing...but both had better get busy covering @ss, because this story isn't going away.
No more spin...be honest, Sony, and admit that you're either killing the 60GB SKU, or not.
They've started to win back some of the goodwill lost during the months after the launch fiasco...and now, they're blowing it.
Jack Tretton, Reggie Fils-Aime, and Peter Moore:
CAGE MATCH!!!
NO HOLDS BARRED, TEXAS STYLE!!!
THREE MEN ENTER!!!
ONE MAN LEAVES!!!
TAKING BETS NOW!!!
(Yes, I know that Moore is no longer with MS, but given the amount of smack-talking he's done, he's still relevant).
This, of course, is intended in good fun.
