About time.

But is it enough? $100 would have been MUCH more effective. Maybe they can implement another $50 cut early/mid 2008.

And what about the Falcon redesign? When is that going into effect?

Bad, evil, malicious thought: Is MS trying to clear out inventory of the non-Falcon units in order to make way for the new models?

I don't think this will be a case of dropping the price to clear a SKU, then raising it after they're gone (...

Very good points. Agreed.

Anyone ever wonder why Lara Croft sometimes wears a backpack?

Counterweights!

How some of the women in these games even stand up, much less perform feats of acrobatic daring, is a mystery to me.

BTW, anything more than a handful is wasted. Pamela Anderson may look good NOW, but just think of those jubblies when she's 45...gravity's a cast-iron b!tch, folks.

"The increase in traffic apparently is to due to a combination of hype for new games, rumors of a price drop, and queries about recent hardware problems."

Sounds about right to me. I think that consumers and gamers are starting to think about Christmas and are doing their research.

Halo speaks for itself. No need to hype it.

Dammit, this game can't get here fast enough. Two months seems like an eternity.

Racist, hateful filthmonger.

Reported.

Sorry, but a drop to $179 won't spur sales very much, even with the free movies. Drop it to $129, or even $99, and include 2-3 movies, and that may move things along.

...on the fates of ALL THREE systems until after this Christmas, and even then, we may not know. Folks, the PS3 and Wii are still less than a YEAR old, and the 360 less than two. A little early to judge long-term prospects, I think.

I call flame-bait!

(And after everyone gets their bubbles back, this comes along!)

Where did you get your avatar? That's a sweet pic.

I think this is the best thing that's happened to this site in a while. It's harder for the irrational fanboys to steal bubbles, and easier for people to post w/o constant fear of reprisal.

Only question is, how long will the peace and truces last? Can we, as gamers, finally be mature enough to make this work?

I think this is this site's equivalent of peace in the Middle East!

Jeez, didn't you learn anything when losing your bubbles last time?

This is coming from someone who doesn't give negative feedback very often. You, however, have more than earned it.

Okami on the Wii, using the Wiimote?

Match made in heaven.

Now, let's hope that a new iteration of the game leads to better sales, and more appreciation for how great Okami really is.

I've already saved enough for BioShock and Halo 3; next paycheck will cover Mass Effect.

Now I need money for Two Worlds, Blue Dragon, Lost Oddyssey, Assassins's Creed, DMC4, Army of Two, Too Human, Stranglehold...how much do blood banks pay these days? Or, I can make do with one kidney...

Wow, what a lineup. And as for my friend who owns ALL THREE systems...well, he's talking about maxing out his Visa card! Best gaming lineup EVER for multiple consoles!

Invest in Nintendo. They seem to have it down pat.

Look at who buys the Wii and the DS, versus who buys the 360, PSP, and PS3. Families, casual gamers, and older gamers (who, BTW, make up nearly 20% of all gamers) have flocked to Nintendo's products. The 360, PS3, and PSP have all skewed towards a more hardcore crowd of teens and young adults.

Need proof? Look at how hard MS and Sony are now working to capture the casual crowd: Beautiful Katamari. LittleBigPlan...

Wouldn't surprise me one bit. Makes the system fall closer to what the average consumer will pay, and allows Sony to make up costs through peripherals (wifi dongle, HD cables, etc). Two problems, however, w/that approach:

--Limited backwards compatibility. Yes, you can achieve it through emulation, but didn't Sony once criticize MS for doing just that w/the 360? There are a lot of PS2 owners out there who would love to continue to play God of War or Ratchet and Clank on their n...
