I mean, he can't be any worse than Paul W.S. Anderson...can he?

Castlevania and Ronin...if he screws up two beloved "geek" properties, I think he'll find himself with the same amount of respect that Anderson and Uwe Boll have...ZERO.

That's a mixed blessing. Being as powerful as the Xbox isn't a bad thing...it was capable of pushing some serious pixels...but when stacked up against the power of the 360 and the PS3, it comes up short. It's a new-gen system with last-gen technology.

And people don't seem to care.

Nintendo hit the gaming sweet spot for price and mass appeal, and though some think that its dated technology is laughable, it's Nintendo that's laughing...all the way to the bank. ...

Good point. Once you throw in the 64 MB card ($30) it's still cheaper than the Wii. And even if the kid eventually wants a hard drive, that's only $100 more, making it only slightly higher than the Wii. (And that's assuming MS doesn't drop the price on the HD, which they SHOULD.)

$199 is the magical price point in the gaming industry, and even if it's the "gimped" Core, it may still attract more people. Imagine if MS could say: "Xbox 360...now starting at $199.&q...

Someone with a sense of humor created a red ring on their controller's center. Same with the person who did the stoplight case mod. (Guess where the red light was positioned).

I've seen most of those case mods before, but some of the better ones are still cool. Loved the Half-Life 2 mod...very nice. Also liked the Union Jack mod. Looked good.

Cut the price of the Core? WHY?

It's gimped. By the time you buy everything that the Pro includes, you've spent $400 or so...and the Core barely sells anyway.

Everyone knows that the Pro is the best deal, unless you want an Elite.

Memo to MS: Cut the price of the Core to $199. Cut the Pro to $299. Cut the Elite to $399. Watch the market share come rolling in.

Missing two:

Aegis Wing (fun multiplayer)

I thought Eets was pretty good, as well.

"Shipped" does not equal "sold." PSP and PS3 are proof of that. So were the end-of-the-year 360 shipments. If Toshiba's price-drops are seen as "desperation," then what would you call flooding the market?

Doesn't mean it won't happen. There's money to be made there, and Take-Two needs plenty of that right now.

I'd be surprised if the PS3 doesn't get some kind of content at some point, even if it's just the same stuff the 360 gets.

$$$ talks.

Campers are the gaming equivalent of a boil on the butt.

I first experienced them playing Quake III, and that's where I also learned how to flush them out.

Good example of how to smoke out campers: Halo 2: Lockout: Room under the sniper rifle. I will not pass that area w/o throwing grenades in first, either from one of the doors or from the narrow slot in the ceiling. Sword whores love to camp there. If I'm with a friend on Slayer, we'll both toss grenades. Inst...

MS could buy them, if they wanted. Major asset for them against Nintendo and Sony. I can see some positives and some negatives from that kind of acquisition.

But an EA purchase of Take-Two = FULL THROTTLE DISASTER.

Programming directly for the Cell takes more time and effort (read: $$$) so that may scare off devs. Conversely, the 360 is much easier to program for, but ports from the 360 to the PS3 have to be altered for its unique architecture (at a slightly increased cost, if I understand correctly). But ports from 360-PS3 haven't turned out very well for the PS3 version, either.

No wonder devs seem unwilling to comment on this matter.

I do have one point to make, however...

Enter the Matrix sold millions of copies, yet I've never heard anyone actually say they liked it. Same with Jaws: I recently saw a copy of it at Wal-Mart with a "Greatest Hits" sticker on it...meaning that at least 400,000 people ponied up good money to buy it.

Enter the Matrix sold well enough to spawn an equally wretched sequel. How much you wanna bet we'll see another Jaws game?

Well, it's a blog. One man's opinion.

He makes some valid points, but as I've said for some time, it's too early to speculate.

But, to be honest, Halo 3 + Mass Effect + BioShock + Assassins's Creed + XBox Live + 360 price cut = big success for MS. Can Sony compete with that? We will see.

And me.

Your sources were pretty reliable, and the tone of your article didn't suggest fanboyism, but someone who wanted to throw legitimate info into the midst of a flame war.

You didn't say "PS3 is better" or "360 is better." Instead, you offered sources that ran against someone else's possibly invalid claim. You didn't scream or rant or call names, you just offered sources.

Hell hath no fury like a fanboy scorned, I suppose...
