Who cares about screenshot comparisons? The better question is, how do they play? Eye candy will only take you so far; great gameplay lasts.
Don't think it will happen, but if it does, I don't think it will hurt MS long-term. Why?
360 games are DVD based, and the HD drive will read them along with the HD movies (unless MS decides to go with HD-based games...very unlikely). So even if the HD format goes belly-up, the system will still play DVD-based games.
To some extent, the same is true of PS3 games: If the BR format dies, then Sony can still use it for games.
I REALLY don't think thi...
Very good list. The Resident Evil remake represents one of the rare cases of the remake far exceeding the original. An equally interesting list would be "Top Ten Worst Remakes."
I work for Best Buy, and after Christmas last year, all of those accessories listed changed in price to what is currently on the website. In other words, those prices are MONTHS old.
This is NOT an attempt at price gouging with the Halo 3 release, but they ARE charging more than suggested MSRP for some 360 (and other) accessories.
In light of the evidence, the title of this story is grossly misleading.
I'm starting to get tired of the constant BR Vs. HD articles. Part of me--and I'm sure that some consumers would agree--wants this whole format war to end, and soon. Beta Vs. VHS alienated many consumers...and it appears to be happening again.
Enough already. It's too bad the two camps couldn't come to some kind of compromise.
Besides, do we really need new formats when most people just switched over to standard DVD?
I do not need five "reasons" to play this game. Anyone who's not already hyped about this has been living in a cave.
I've said it before, and I guess I'll have to say it a hundred more times:
Halo has ALWAYS been about gameplay, and not graphics. Whatever the game gives us in terms of graphical quality will definitely take a backseat to the single and ESPECIALLY the multiplayer campaigns.
Eye candy will only take you so far. Great gameplay is eternal.
Win: Gives gamers something to look forward to in the usually dead-time of spring, and allows more attention to games that would have been overshadowed by the one-two punch of Halo 3 and GTA launching within a month of each other. Also, allows gamers to have another $60 to spend on another quality title this fall.
Lose: Takes one definite console mover away from Christmas 07, hurting Sony, MS, Rockstar, Take-Two, retailers...darn near everyone.
I think this hurt...
I call flamebait! (Ducks behind anti-fanboy shield, runs like hell for nearest bomb shelter).
BTW, it's Halo, and it's Bungie. Have a little faith.
Gay gamers...like my Geek Squad friend who likes to tell people, "Your @ss is mine...in Gears of War." LOL!
It's the same thing with female gamers...who cares where they put their hoohoo or haha (to quote Marge Simpson), as long as they can play!
It's either some immature, frat-boy minded prankster, or something more serious. Defacing a site is one thing...death threats are another thing entirely.
Let's hope it's a one-time thing, and they catch the individual(s) responsible for this attack. Hate crimes are loathsome.
I'd add one more to each:
360: RRoD is an issue, and they've addressed it with the new warranty , but their customer service still stinks.
Wii: DS compatibility? Both have wifi--why has this not happened yet?
PS3: For a HD console, they found no need to include at least a cheap set of component cables? Come on. The Sony brand PS3 component cables run about $20.
Now, how about a similar list of all the GREAT things about each console...
These will present a little more of a challenge than the first list. But I'm surprised that the online achievements aren't more challenging. Maybe Bungie will also release new maps and content, with new achievements, a la Gears. That will keep fresh challenges coming for Halo 3 players.
Very good points.
Shaved heads rock. I looooove my new Kojak look. Easy to maintain, too.
That's the one positive thing to come from the GTA delay: More money, better sales, and greater appreciation for some genuine AAA titles. Plus, GTA's delay gives gamers something to look forward to in the usually dead-time of late winter/early spring.
Fight Night Rd. 3
Viva Pinata (seriously, folks, give it a try)
Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter
Kameo (again, don't pre-judge. Give it a try)
Moto GP 06
Chromehounds (great game, but the achievements are a b!tch)
LOTR: Battle for Middle-Earth II (RTS that translated well to consoles)
Call of Duty 2
Condemned (sleeper hit for the system)
Burnout: Revenge
...
Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance III?
BD: DA II left us hanging. Will there ever be another game? That was one of my favorite RPGs.
Total gamergasm!
:)
Agreed.
Wait until they're released before comparing...but even then, why compare? It's essentially a p!ssing contest. Apples and oranges.
The better question is, how do they play? That's what matters.
As a 360 owner, I get to play both. Win/win.
